Yes, the Fuel EX line-up for Trek is like the Toyota Tacoma line-up. You really can't go wrong. Thanks for watching and adding to the conversation, my friend.

Nice Comparisson. I just want to ask if the Gen 3 top fuel still had the curve on the top tube on small size frame?

Can you please talk about the Mino link adjustment on the Top fuel, what is your preferred position?

Adam, I am so sorry it took so long to reply. Brandon wanted to craft an effective response, and we have been ridiculously busy. Thanks for watching and asking your question. MinoLink can be set in either a HIGH or LOW positions by reversing the MinoLink nut. Switching from HIGH to LOW will: 1) slacken head tube angle by .5 degrees therefore adding stability in high speed technical situations. 2) drops bottom bracket height by nearly 7mm for lower center of gravity. Again, for better stability on fast technical terrain. LOW position will slow down steering and increase the possibility of pedal strike. I’ve always kept my Top Fuel in HIGH position because that’s how I like the bike to handle. Also, I rarely ride in conditions that warrant the flip. The swap is easy enough and I recommend anyone to try both positions for fun to experience both options and select the mode that best suits riding style and conditions.

Ive been looking at high end spec top fuel and fuel ex and it seems like trek is really pushing these bikes to the next level as they keep adding travel. the new top fuel is 130mm/120mm travel which seems more like all mountain and the new fuel ex is 150mm/140mm travel which seems like more enduro level. Am I wrong?

You are not far off the mark, my friend. The boundaries have definitely been blurred between the disciplines. With the new Slash being 170mm, it's hard to pick a bike that doesn't do it all. Personally, it doesn't matter what bike I am on, I ride it like I stole it, lol. I appreciate you asking your question my friend as well as watching our video. Adventure safely.

Id add that the Fuel is way more versatile, being able to run from 65.5°-63.5° HTA, and Mullet with a 160 front fork. And while the Top Fuel is probably really nice to pedal uphill, it might get a little sketchy when it gets steep at 66°. Ive just ordered a Fuel ex Gen 6 to run as my middle travel "enduro" vs my Slash 9.8. I think if someone was looking for 1 bike (not the N+1 crowd like us), the Fuel Gen 6 is almost perfect.

I agree, my friend. I often refer to the Fuel EX as the Toyota Tacoma of Trek's lineup. Of all the bikes I own, my Fuel 9.9 is my favorite. Thank you for taking the time to watch as well as leaving your input. Both are appreciated.

Hey Richard. Thank you for taking the time to watch and ask your question. The answer is yes, they are having a huge sale starting tomorrow. I love my Gen 5 Fuel EX and would almost say grab one of those to save even more. Let us know which route you take. Thanks again for your support and adventure safely.

I'm 50, Mike, and when I ride my Timberjack, I definitely feel it the next day. However, both bikes are tons of fun and offer a different experience on the trail. Thanks for watching, my friend, and for taking the time to comment. Keep us posted on which route you take and adventure safely.
