Well in this round I wrapped up the removal of the old greaseball 350. After that I did a pretty extensive degrease of the engine bay. Then a quick rattle can refinish of the engine bay (off camera).
Lastly I sort out some incompatibility issues and cram that LS into the van.......
Please stay tuned for the next round and please like ,share ,comment and subscribe if you haven't already......I would appreciate it very much.
I appreciate you all.

I know it's a year late but always set these G vans on ramps on the front. Makes removal much easier because it raises the firewall opening relative to the engine hoist mast. The arm then easily clears the opening as you lift it up.

Owns a Chevy Van G20 myself. 10 years ago I unfortunately had a crank bearing failure. I lifted the engine out through thel right door............it's much easier. Of course, so you must remove the dashboard and the console that sits at the front of the engine where the AC compressor, servo and generator are mounted.

Yea, the headers probably wont fit, i do have 3 or 4 sets of factory LS manifolds and im sure at least 1 set will work. I will be providing a complete list of every major component used at the end of the series to make it easy for people to do the same swap.

@@BrokenWrenches that's good 👍, I just picked my van today and got it home. Going to start inspecting it more thoroughly and start documentation on it than tear it down and rebuild. The current 5.7l engine is really in decent shape which I was happy about so I do plan on just working with that motor for the meantime until I find and afford a suitable swap out. But I will be watching your build vigorously. 👍

You made a good comment when you said the English language is something else. I believe we have 48 sounds or perhaps it's 46 or 44 I forget. ____ sound being expressed by 26 letters. It's no wonder so many people have trouble spelling. That wasn't insightful of you, that you brought that up. _____I use a lot of tricks to help me with spelling for example a word like guarantee, I will lock it in with united airlines! I am a van man too. In fact I used to own 2 of them. My next car most likely will be a minivan. ______I just stumbled a # your channel tonight. Interesting build. I normally watch a lot of automotive electrical diagnostics, so I assume that's why your channel came through my news feed. Good video footage and good communication skills I learned a few things.

@@johneric3886 ha, no worries. I dont take myself to seriously, life is to short. Everytime i hear some guy make a comment along the lines of “if your gonna live here learn english” i think about how challenging that must actually be……I’ve been trying to pick it up my entire life, 38 years now. Some languages do seem much simpler. I appreciate you watching. I was a commercial electrician for almost 10 years, i guess i still am in the automotive world now. Its one area that 97% of people don’t understand and that rarely deters them from working on an automotive electrical system. When you overlayed the flex plates, how is a sharpie marking accurate enough?
@BrokenWrenches
@BrokenWrenches 2 месяца назад
both parts are super rigid, you can spin the the torque converter up against the flexplate and it will usually make little scuff marks to help center the drilled holes. you drill the holes a little oversized just like the factory holes and when your putting it together permanently you just gradually snug each bolt a little at a time while rotating the engine and wiggling the converter a little… as long as the bolts draw down equally and your drill holes are reasonably close your good to go.

@BrokenWrenches Год назад
Thanks for watching. These van dont have a removable frame. They do have big frame rails and crossmembers that run front to back but its all fully welded together, much like a modern car. You can remove the center crossmember under the engine, the lower control arms and engine mounts to it, its about 18” long by 36” wide or close to that. It really wouldn’t help much as far as wiring and all the systems are concerned.

I was thinking [a dangerous habit I don't usually endorse]. Anyway, a lot of modern GM service vans in junkyards have floors and doghouses that fit these LS motors... with a sawzall and a small bag of tools... you could get that doghouse and section of flooring [possibly a 4L80E transmission with overdrive as well... not to mention another LS for another project] pretty affordably :-)) Like I said though... I try not to think but was looking ahead to that larger looking motor and that old tranny that may work better on a classic car along with the small block [facebook market place those two to finance the motor tranny from the junkyard... or from facebook marketplace in a swap?... no doubt you have a plan that blows this idea out of the water so ... anyway... most folks ask for comments lol Thought I'd share my bad idea [it does sound like work and not all work is an adventure unless friends want to help... [ maybe bribe them with a case of beer? Works here in Canada] lol
