Greetings and Happy New Year from Vivekananda Samiti,
To commemorate the 153rd birth anniversary of revered Swami Vivekananda,
the Vivekananda Samiti, a student body under Students' Gymkhana, IIT
Kanpur is organizing Vivekananda Youth Leadership Convention, during
11-12th January, 2016.
The Convention aims to spread Swami Vivekananda’s inspirational message of
inner awakening, human excellence and the spirit of serving the mankind,
among the youth of India. With the focus on leadership, social awareness,
and youth empowerment, the Convention features two inspirational talks,

Event: Talk By General J.J. Singh (Ex-Army Chief)
Topic: 'Leadership - As I practiced it'
Time: 5:30 PM
Venue: L-7
NOTE: The talk will focus on strategies of Indian Army and insights of
1971 Indo-Pak War through his experience.
About the speaker:
General J.J. Singh was the Ex. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS)during
2005-2007 of Indian Army and Ex. Governor of Arunachal Pradesh during
2008-2013. He was decorated with the Ati Vishisht Medal in recognition of
his services in the planning and execution of the Kargil conflict and the
Param Vishisht Seva Medal(PVSM) for his distinguished services of the
highest order. He was awarded by several other prestigious medals like
Operation Parakram Medal, Raksha Medal, Samanya Seva Medal, Saina Seva
Medal, Operation Vijay Star, Sangram Medal, Wound Medal and many more.
