Again, as a 68 yr old white guy, this is not something I would have normally listened to. The first song was interesting and I liked his testimony at the end. The second song I liked even more as it reminded me of being on a cruise or sittin on a beach in the Bahamas listening to good tunes. Appreciate y'all. Now I'm going to go check out Troy.
I hear 4 voices. The first two are the two parts of Ren, the self critic and the him that hopes and perseveres. Then, it's the next two, the demon and the angel, who exist within us both. Without both within us, we wouldn't be human, so Ren reminds us to embrace humanity even if/when it's a struggle to balance the light and dark.
Definitely get this guy back on and throw him some of the lyrical miracle stuff. I think the new track "Troubles" is also a perfect crash course into his story which would be a great addition to the Ren Rollercoaster for the newbies
I always took the last verse as that's HIM. It's the good and bad combined to make up who we are. He's talking as him there though....at least that's my interpretation of it.
The first voice is his doubt, his critisism, his hesitation....the second is his artist's heart, his hope...the third, both of them; together now. Now...he sings more STRONGLY. The lights are going crazy, but he is creating....both sides finally working together instead of against each other. That is a serious damn dance, to be sure. It is clear by his music that he has studied a LOT OF THEM. The gentleman has a background! There are pieces, parts, phrases...not stolen, but taken and woven together in ways we have not seen them before. Like a tapestry.
I hear it as 3 people, the first part of the song is Ren vs "evil Ren" for a lack of a better term and the last one who stands is Ren as well but one that has grown and learned from the "battle" with evil Ren. That evil is the same evil that resides in ALL of us.
LD50 means "Lethal Dose 50% " - used when experimenting on animals, where 50% of the animals died after taking a given dose of the experimental drug (poison). On the more cheerful side of the fence, 50% of the animals survived.
