comparison between ghosthunter 2x24 generation 1 monocular and an/pvs-14 generation 3 monocular. * note that i didn't have the phone as close to the ocular lens on the ghosthunter so in reality the picture would be somewhat larger.
gen 1's are much more affordable. case and point, the average person or airsoft player, wouldn't want to spend the same amount of a cheap car on a pair of nods. I purhcased mine on amazon for $86 a month. Thats a steal and something i wouldn't let pass even if i was forced to.
Jackal 1 i recently purchased a gen2 + for 1500 Euros. As an airsoft player and former military, i can tell you that a gen 1 is an infrared flashlight. You will be a sitting duck using a gen 1. Good luck.
@@AR-ib8bb Which country in Europe are you from? I'm from France and it's pretty hard finding affordable and practical products. Any site to recommend ?
@@AR-ib8bb supongo que eres español, donde coño encuentras un Gen 2 por 1500?? Llevo meses buscando algo barato de gen 2 y todo lo que encuentro es casi tan caro como gen 3
Gen 1 doesn't look as bad as the video shows. It's better than no nightvision. In most urban area, there is already light, to help out the Gen 1. If you are in zero light , or very low light conditions Gen 3 will really shine over the Gen 1 . Although, your video looks like Gen 1 with the IR light off.
Gen 1 is much cheaper than Gen 3. Though the image quality of Gen 3 is better then Gen 1, the image quality of Gen 1 is not as bad as video made it seem. I repair Night vision devices for the military and law enforcement.
Yes the IR light was off until 0:51 it seems, but that is kind of the point. Gen 3 you do not need an IR light in most situations which allows you to stay passive and not draw attention from other users of NV.
I played at milsim west strikes on the steppes last summer, let me tell you one of my Buddies made me use his Pvs 14 gen 3 night vision, it literally felt like I was looking with my own eyes. I definetly recommend this product.
*Thank you for this video....* been watch videos for the past hour, trying to see the VISUAL DIFFERENCE between; Gen1... with and without IR & Gen3.... with and without IR *FINALLY I FOUND ONE!*
IMAMPOJMA question how much do you know about night vision models and companies? I'm sure I have a military grade night vision monocular but who knows. Its a litton, Made in Tempe Arizona. What I'm trying to find out is the exact model name and also a manual if there was ever one made for it Lol. I've seen one that says it's an M911 on eBay but there's an m911 a and I'm confused. I don't want to make a RU-vid video of it untill I have the facts. I don't Wana provide false info. Love this thing man!
I don't think there is any question gen 3 will outperform gen 1 by a long shot. That being said you can pick up a gen 1 monocular for $180 on Amazon and for most people thats all they (we) can afford. I for one can't in any way afford a $3000+ set of goggles. If I couod there is no question I would. But when people say "save up to buy gen 3" you have to keep in mind for many that may take years to save up. Might as well But then gen 1 then start saving to upgrade later. Also if you do go gen 1 make sure you get a good external IR flashlight to go with it. The difference is (pun intended) night and day.
Cough try $5000; the price is EXTREMELY hard to fork over but if you have some serious disposable income like someone who lives with their parents. you can just barely take it.
I would only drop that much amount of money only if I had to own one for let's say my own safety. But, I don't, so I much rather buy gen 1 and use that.
The main diff between Gen2 and gen3 is tube life. Yes, Gen3 does amplify the light more than gen2. But a 2 will have a tube life around 1,000 hrs and a gen3 10,000 hrs. A 3 is a better buy if using a lot. A 2 is awesome compared to nothing. I’d save up and buy a 3 then sell the 2.
If you buy a "higher end" gen2+ from Photonis there won't be much of a difference in either picture or tubelife. Photonis ECHO tubes are comparable to omni 6-7 tubes. And a fullspec INTENS 4G is like a L3 filmless.
Just tested back to back an Ekran EPM223G-11-26B gen2 vs a litton made Omni7 tube, Main difference in heavy dark: less brightness but not by alot.. Mainly resolution, the g2 tube struggled with keeping a decent resolution and produced quite lot of noise trying to resolve details in the vegetation, whilst the omni7 tube had no issues, i could count individual leaves on the bushes and veg, and spot small pebbles at 20m distance.. With a super clear image and little to no noise, just a small amount of scintillation, due to max gain
I would love to know the brand of your PVS-14. Thank you for making this eye-opening video of the great difference between the generations 1 and generation 3.👍🏻🍻
Is this what it really looks like between both generations? I read that depending on your digital camera that most of the time what is recorded is less bright than what is really seen by the naked eye. I use the latest PVS14s in my line of work and even for a Gen 3 shown in the video looks really dark.
No I have gen 1 doesn't look that bad. However, in really low light conditions. Forget Gen 1 for further than 100 yards or so. His location is perfect to show the advantages of Gen 3 over Gen 1.
I have the 3 stage cascade mil nv from 1980s sat next to me- P8079HP, another project when I get around to it. I think UFO Lou has one, amazing whats up there if you are in the rght place at the right time, think he caught the TR6Telos ( as in Pheonix lights) with it or was that someone else, my mobile phone is blurring my mind.
That's both false and false. I live in the EU and have a device from all 3 generations. gen2 cost me EUR500, gen3 was 800 (not 100% perfect, some darker areas on the image, but still very usable and way better than the spotless gen2). But you're right about gen1, it only provides marginal benefits compared to the newer ones. At least the image is crystal clear :)
@@belakiss7492 In the US, gen II is available for around $1400 at the cheapest and gen III is available for around $2500. There isn’t really any company releasing gen I devices anymore which sucks.
It's amazing for night walks, the most amazing part is the sky. You see stars you can't even see with the naked eye because small amounts of light is amplified. So the entire sky is just vivid with stars. Would recommend.
That's a dim Gen-3... I got a PS7-3 with a military MX-10130D/UV OMNI-V tube that will best that on a moonless night, during a rain, and under tree cover... It's a just lot more grainy is all being from the 1990s...
I need a set for my rock climbing partner everywhere seems to be either too expensive or sold out, I have 500$ would anyone happen to have a pair for sale? (Helment and Mount not needed but would still buy)
I have to say, with a good bit of moonlight, gen1 (in my experience) can be better than natural nightvision, but only barely. I want to invest into a gen2 monocular, buuuut thats very, VERY expensive.
Video is great but showing an IR NV against a Starlight pvs-14 is wrong. IR scopes are only relative to other IR scopes. This is apples to lemons match up.
Funny how ace3 (arma mod) makes nightvision look so shitty compared to actual nvgs, its supposed to be realistic but it makes every nvg look like shitty gen1 on default settings
Mint Rose Well there is nothing fake about the ATPIAL or DBAL as you put it. Not sure why you would even want a mil grade Peq 15 as they are not even eye safe.
roy e Yes there is nothing fake, perhaps i should have rephrased my question to better suit, by differentiating if it were a real L3 mil-spec PEQ-15 or the civilian ATPIAL. Hence the use of things like ATPIAL and DBAL as they are for civilian consumer grade with less powerful lasers, as the real mil-spec grade PEQ-15's should not be in hands who are irresponsible with it and alike.
Mint Rose I totally agree with that. We ran the Peq 15 while I was on active duty in the Army. I think they should be banned for civilian purchase. Not to say that all civilians are not responsible but it can still get in the hands of someone that does not put safety first.
Depends on the model some of the later Gen1+ Russian weapons optics approach gen 2 quality because they have a really large objective lens which gathers more light.
He is right. Pvs-2 starlight scopes with tripple stage cascade systems are really making a comeback within the special operations community. System gains of 30,000 found in the latest thin film and filmless systems have been found to be too bright and decreases situational awareness. S distortion, excessive blooming and dark streaking in dynamic lighting environments are a breath of fresh air to our war fighters who have become used to those crappy high FOM auto gated gen 3's. Seal team six found gen 3 night vision to be so sub par they had to use four tubes to make up for it. It's true. Look it up.
Robert Talkington yeah the biggest problem with most PVS-14's is their small FOV which results in lack of depth perception hence why they made the quad eye models for SOCOM.
I dont get why you feel the need to lie about gen 1 lmfao what do you get from pretending its worse than it is? I actually want an answer as to what you are gaining from lying about it.
