South Korea's President Yoon has been in power for one year. When he was campaigning for the Presidency, to court the conservative votes, he had blamed feminism for the country's low birth-rates, and proposed to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
Since his election, the feminist movement has protested his administration’s attempts to roll back women's rights. At the recent March 8th Women's Day rally, calls were made to protect the Ministry.
This episode of Insight looks at the rise of the feminist movement in South Korea, and the many issues that affect women in the country - from having the biggest gender pay gap among OECD countries to high rates of sexual assault and harassment. At the same time, there is a growing men's rights movement, who are pushing back against the feminist wave. These groups claim that feminism has gone too far, verging on men-hating.

I can't believe how these people don't see where the gender inequality comes from. Up until recently, all children were raised by their mother, grandmother or other female relatives who does not work. It was these women who favored and valued their sons more than their daughters. Daughters were treated like extra mouths to feed and when they are old enough, they were force to work as free cooker, house keeper and baby sitters of their siblings. Boys were raised seeing their older and younger sisters as they are not equal. In this 21 Century, I still see Koreans who still says sons are more important than their daughters. Gender inequality started within your family and moved out to the society. If you really want to make a change for the better future, please start from your home. Treat your sons and daughters equally at home!

Feminism will eventually destroy a nation. The core tenet of feminism is freedom from traditional gender roles. In the west, women are encouraged to get educated, get a career, compete with men, meanwhile despising motherhood and nuclear families. The result, falling marriage and birthrates. If S. Korea keeps this path, their falling birthrates will weaken their country, inviting a more patriarchal state like N. Korea to conquer them.

Korean society is also extremely judgmental towards single mothers, older mothers, mothers who had babies out of wedlock, etc. So women would rather not have children unless they find partners. And even then, they're expected to do all the child rearing on their own with minimum help from the husband. The husband gets a working wife, maid, baby machine all in one. But women suffer a lot.

When I say equality, it means equal opportunities, being respected as both are human beings, that includes equal access to safety, health, social support, job opportunities and pay, equal distribution of labour in child rearing, equal access to education, being treated like the way you, as a human being, want to be treated. You want respect from women, treat women with respect, not as someone who is subordinate to men. That's what I mean by gender equality. There are certain things that only men can do better and women can only do due to biology. No one is arguing that men and women are the same. Confucian teachings, while good as a family teaching in terms of filial piety, places women below men in terms of positions of respect. Most religions do so too. In part because men is physically stronger. And by physically stronger, in the past, had enabled men to create societies that subjugate women. Nowadays, physical strength is no longer as important. We can be aided by machines physically much stronger than any man. Heck, even modern warfare is fought by drones and machines now, which means, women can be trained to operate these machines too. So, no, I'm not giving it a rest. Do some self reflection. I don't ask for more rights than what is given to men. Just equality

Furthermore on the explanation, I read that those same men wouldn't want a relationship with the western woman they perceived as promiscuous and cheap: only a sexual experience. Unless, of course, you actually can't work and only depend on your sexual appeal and want to have the easy way. Do you yourself have any standard, if any? Just reject him, and done. Something important to consider, Co-ed universities for women were founded during a time where women weren't accepted in today's mix-gendered universities in Korea, since it was seen as undesirable or a waste of resources for women to obtain any form of education in a developing traditional Korean society. Today both mixed and women-dedicated universities cater to higher education (HE) needs of women, which may seem like overkill to those who think equality in HE accessibility has been achieved for Korean women. In reality, these universities aren't quite as prestigious as the main three mixed-gendered universities in Korea (a very important factor to consider when you want a job as a young Korean). Women in Korea also tend to need a higher degree than their male counterparts to be perceived as equally competent when looking for employment (observation explained in the lecture Gender Equity in Higher Education: Korea's Experience in Global Context). Looking at it purely from a HE accessibility standpoint, equating the feminist movement to a movement for equality between men and women is misleading and causes most people to fall into the trap of oversimplifying women rights issues, or worse, leading some to inaccurately believe feminism is incompatible with men's rights. The latter belief stems from confusing the patriarchal system as being a system solely dedicated to advocating for men's rights. In reality, the purpose of a patriarchy is not to protect the rights of men, and that is even more true for the rights of women. The main purpose of a patriarchy is that the select few who can make important societal, economical and political decisions are men, because this system views women as being incapable of making such decisions for themselves, let alone for society: that is what feminism disagrees with and seeks equal opportunity for women. In reality, a mix of equal opportunity and equitable rights for all genders may be the preferred type feminism to go for in the future, not equality outright. Currently, the goal of feminism cannot be equality of opportunity, it needs to compensate for the historical accumulation of limitations and loss of accumulated wealth, power and self-emancipation women had to go through under a patriarchal system. Consequently, we need to modulate women's and men's rights by considering an equitable approach (equity being more complex to achieve than equality). Both women and men have their rights and freedoms limited according to very specific gender rolls doled out under the patriarchal system: it is an efficient system for a developing country, but in exchange it has a blatant disregard for the safety, enrichment and health of its women. These limitations historically have limited women's choices in their lives disproportionately more than men and feminism is a reaction to these disproportionate sets of limitations. If everyone commented like this on RU-vid, no one would ever read the comments lol And yet, complex issues require a lot of thinking and research. So, if you take this issue at heart, go look for answers in more credible sources if you can and don't assume the worst of others, including people you disagree with. Actually, we learn more from those we disagree with if a conversation can be had.

@waiwai5233
@waiwai5233 Год назад
The one thing that makes 50/50 in the traditional sense impossible is our mating strategy and motivation dynamics. There is a reason why in the US 60% of men in the dating age are single while only 30% with the same criteria are. Hypergamy is entrenched since the dawn of civilization. Woman almost always see themselves in most time and culture as the value added gender. They are innately more valuable than men. That is why 'Women and children first' or why men to to bring so much extra resources to even begin courtship, let alone marriage. The birth rate issue is fundamentally women priced themselves out of being a possible prospect by the average men (Hypergamy, men not as motivated to strive for higher status and also the adversarial divorce laws). Which was not an issue during war torn times. So while adding laws to promote equality of opportunities while also removing laws that were created where men and women were assigned traditional roles should be reversed so that no gender is the favored group under the law. Birthrate will still continue to fall regardless. Feminism or better described as egocentrism is bad news for men, children and eventually women post wall.

It's because most women in developing countries are still battling for education. Which isn't bad.. Personally I think it's good. It's only with the third wave of feminism that things get really bad. The second wave already caused the divorce Olympics. Pun intended. That's where things got tricky, but still more than enough good women to go around. With the third wave things just accelerated. Every form of entertainment needed to be censored or deconstructed, all women are victims (metoo), and women having careers means they don't really need men anymore. Hence some women are perpetually looking for a literally fantastic man that they'll never find. The problems are numerous, and the birth rates are lower than ever. I don't think the world needs more people. But we certainly don't need luxury powered population collapse either.

Blaming low birth rate on feminism versus socioeconomic conditions such as wealth distribution and NIMBY housing laws is the most pathetic and ridiculous take I’ve seen. Feminism and is movement in South Korea is fairly new, the unequal wealth distribution, increase power that the Chaebol and owner class have garnered has much more history and correlation with the declining birth rate. Good luck though South Korea, demographic time bombs are extremely destructive, and I’m glad the USA gets to learn from other nations on how to deal with this crisis. If it’s any consolation, I think in 5-10 years, AI will supersede any issues we have as a human species and there will be some unity in determining why we should exist in the first place. Until then have fun with these second and third derivative issues as they will become non issues extremely fast due to AI and famine from the lack of fertilizer coming from Ukraine and Russia.

Even in extremely wealthy 'First World' nations everybody needs to work. There are leeches with (immense) generational wealth to fall back on to, might be an exception, but those numbers are so irrelevant, nobody cares. 'Let your money work for you' is a lie those Wallstreet psychos tell the world to keep their casinos open. But in reality, only real people and real assets create real returns - otherwise you just have another bubble waiting to burst. People treat the stock market as a fun place to make some quick bucks, but at the end it is actual people that suffer either way. Workers lose their jobs all the time, they don't generate enough revenue or the market crashed once more. Women don't refuse to have children, because they are evil witches hating men. And elderly people don't starve to death in their tiny apartments, because their ungrateful children won't look after them. New technological advantages created a lot of changes all around the world, especially social patterns and structures that would evolve over decades, if not centuries, are practically changing over night. It's impossible to keep up, when you are young and healthy, you might be able to keep yourself afloat, but most people are one accident or one hospital visit away from total financial & social ruin.

@@Pj-mj7wi but tbh the fault comes from many korean feminist women themselves. This documentary doesn’t show it, but most feminists (especially those of the younger generations) are anti-men. This is coming from a fellow Korean-American female feminist: This feminist movement will never blossom if feminist women keep doing what they’re doing. They are literally making men from neutral -> to anti-feminists. Majority of feminists in Korea are radical. Women Feminists would make comments like “🤏” to degrade , humiliate, and anger Korean men (there is a stereotype that Korean men have small penises). Or, they call men “한남” (Han-nam or ko-man) which is a derogatory term for korean men (has a connotation that they are hypersexual, rude, selfish). And with this, they call it “women empowerment.” If women feminists really care about women’s rights (instead of just arguing with men and making unecessary comments just to “win” the argument), they need to start working WITH not against non-feminist men.

But true equality means that we need people are human being as a number 10 of you to be employed and I'm going to employ you based on statistics on paper based on education and your extra-curricular activities. So that its fair it is going to be based on how hard you worked, on equality, but for the sake of equal numbers of men and women, I only have 5 slots for these 100 men and 5 slots for 5 women. Sorry individual human beings who excel better and worked harder than all these lazy, C grade losers, but they are women and I need 5 for quota so let's slot in these lazy, worthless, low value Indvidual because they have a quality called women that I need to look for. Shouldn't true equality mean that in this situation, you look for the best person, not the best person in ratio with gender? Like do you need your doctors to be half women and half men teams? I want the best team, doesn't matter their gender to do my surgeries. It may happen that women are the most hard working in certain field of work and industries, dominating even, that doesn't it make it gender unequal. That has nothing to do with specifically women, but the case can apply to both genders. you also mention what about household unequal income? Let me ask you what about it? What is your suggestion toward unequal household income and what is the problem in having unequal household income? Do people have the same pay? Do people have the same skills? What are you talking about? We all unequal household income is NOT the result of GENDER and its employment. Women with careers of any kind, what about them? They ALREADY HAVE CAREERS and are WORKING, they don't argue on the internet for mor female rights because they are already making money and earning privilege? I am surrounded by such women from my mom to my aunts, friends and relatives all business owners. I don't know what you mean by what about women's Careers, they have the right to work for them and when they do they excel according to their efforts if you live in a good country. What is your point? Misogyny exist so we must tackle that but so does poverty? Why are you not tackling poverty first, you don't care about starving children? How are you tackling misogyny by creating stupid ideas that doesn't do its purpose? The 2016 murder of a woman in a public bathroom near Gangnam Station triggered a wave of feminist activism and protests. - Women began publicly sharing their experiences of feeling unsafe and facing discrimination, highlighting the need for action to address gender-based violence. 07:32 *✊ The Rise of the Feminist Movement* - The #MeToo movement in 2018 was a significant milestone for the feminist movement in South Korea. - Feminists organized mass rallies, such as the "Pussycat March," to demand justice and an end to sexual harassment and discrimination. 09:26 *🌊 Conflicting Currents of Feminism and Anti-Feminism* - Alongside the growing feminist movement, there has been a concurrent rise of anti-feminist and regressive sentiments in South Korean society. - Some political actors have exploited the tensions between feminists and anti-feminists for their own political gain, contributing to the polarization of the debate. 10:05 *🔍 Critiques of Feminist Policies* - Some argue that the government's gender equality policies have been more about political strategy than effective implementation. - Concerns have been raised about the limitations and gaps in the policies, and the need for more proactive measures to address women's safety and empowerment. 11:07 *🚫 Denial of Structural Gender Discrimination* - Feminist writers and commentators often face a barrage of misogynistic online harassment and abuse. - Feminist social media pages and online communities are targeted with hate speech and sexist attacks, reflecting the virulent anti-feminist sentiment. 16:38 *🤝 Gender Roles and Inequalities* - South Korea's rapid economic development has contributed to the entrenchment of patriarchal structures and gender norms, including the breadwinner-homemaker model. - Mandatory military service for men, but not women, is seen as a significant source of gender inequality, especially in terms of career progression. 19:16 *💼 Economic Challenges and Anti-Feminist Narratives* - The current economic difficulties, including high inflation and low employment, are disproportionately affecting young men in South Korea. - Some individuals have attempted to frame these economic struggles as a consequence of women's empowerment and feminist policies, rather than addressing the broader structural issues. 21:32 *🤱 Fertility Decline and Gender Inequality* - South Korean women are delaying or forgoing having children due to ongoing issues with career interruptions and gender-based economic disadvantages. - Despite women facing persistent economic inequalities, some have attempted to blame feminism and women's choices for the declining birth rate, further fueling anti-feminist sentiments. 22:45 *🔍 Critiques of the Ministry of Gender Equality* - The current government's policies regarding the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family are seen as undermining the advancement of women's rights. - Feminists argue that the ministry's approach treats women as a group that requires constant support and protection, rather than recognizing them as equal citizens. 22:59 *🤔 Critiques of the Gender Equality Ministry's Approach* - Feminists argue that the government's gender equality policies treat women as inherently needing constant support and protection, rather than recognizing them as equal citizens. - There are concerns that the proposed changes to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will further marginalize women's issues and reduce the government's commitment to addressing gender-based discrimination. 26:28 *🎶 Objectification in K-pop and Media* - There have been critiques of the sexualized concepts and imagery used in some K-pop groups, raising concerns about the objectification of women. - Feminists argue that content creators, including in the K-pop industry, need to be more aware of the impact and implications of their work, especially when it comes to the portrayal of women. 28:11 *🚨 Persistent Gender-based Violence* - Feminists in South Korea have highlighted the prevalence of various forms of gender-based violence, including domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault. - Many of these acts of violence are not adequately addressed or punished, leading to a lack of justice and safety for victims. 30:41 *🤨 Women's Reluctance Towards Relationships and Childbearing* - Many South Korean women perceive intimate relationships, marriage, and childbearing as high-risk endeavors that could potentially compromise their dignity and autonomy. - This has led to a growing trend of women choosing to forgo or delay these traditionally expected life events, contributing to the declining birth rate. 31:57 *🧑‍⚖️ Concerns about Gender-biased Justice System* - Feminist groups have criticized instances where men have been falsely accused of sexual crimes without sufficient evidence, leading to concerns about the fairness of the justice system. - The groups advocate for true gender equality, where neither men nor women are presumed guilty or treated unfairly due to their gender. 34:22 *🤐 Barriers to Reporting Gender-based Violence* - Victims of gender-based violence often face significant societal pressures and stigma that discourage them from reporting their experiences. - Victim-blaming attitudes, such as questioning the victim's actions or behavior, contribute to the reluctance to come forward and seek justice. 35:19 *🎤 Evolving Representation of Women in K-pop* - Recent K-pop groups have featured more confident and empowered portrayals of women, moving away from overtly sexualized concepts. - The increased involvement of female artists in creative roles, such as producing, songwriting, and shaping the group's image, is seen as a positive step towards greater representation and agency. 37:03 *📱 Online Harassment of Feminist Figures* - Prominent feminists and women in the public eye, such as the K-pop idol Irene, have faced intense online harassment and backlash for expressing feminist views or ideas. - The harassment ranges from personal attacks to attempts to "cancel" or punish the individuals for their perceived feminist stances. 38:46 *🤝 Responsibility of Political Leaders in Addressing Gender Conflicts* - The current president's campaign promises and policies regarding the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family have contributed to the ongoing gender conflicts in South Korean society. - Feminists argue that political leaders have a responsibility to facilitate dialogue, find compromises, and propose reasonable solutions to address the deep-seated gender-based tensions. 40:11 *🔍 The Path Forward: Increased Women's Participation and Representation* - Feminists emphasize the need for greater women's participation in politics and leadership roles across various sectors to drive meaningful change. - Seeing more women in positions of power and influence can help challenge the perception that gender equality efforts are a threat to men. 41:40 *🚀 Increasing Women's Representation in Politics* 43:10 *🔍 Framing the Feminist Backlash* - The government and political establishment have tended to frame the conflict between the feminist movement and the anti-feminist backlash as a simple "battle of the sexes." 43:51 *🌍 Societal Transformation and Evolving Gender Roles* - I'm resting in bed because of a broken leg right now. I had a VICE marathon yesterday. One video upset me more than all the others I watched so far. It was about human trafficking in Kuwait, in particular the illegal trafficking of maids. They showed a clip of a young and apparently wealthy young woman who said ... letting them own a cellphone!? ... letting them have their own passport!? ... to give them a day off!? She acted like treating those women with basic decency and respect was simply impossible. What a lot of people don't understand is, slavery is pretty much ingrained in that culture. There are of course good people in that country, too, but for most of them owning another human being is nothing unusual. A lot of the issues in this world aren't just creations of globalization and consumerism. Human trafficking didn't began with our modern capitalism, the same way misogyny and rape weren't created by entitled feminists. There is something utterly wrong with our species and the cultures we created. It's not just a few of us, there is something wrong with all of us. And we can't change things for the better when we refuse to see things as what they truly are. Deflecting by pointing fingers at others isn't an option.

Feminism has been getting bad names because a lot of women have being using it maliciously to aim to gain advantage over others or to spread unrelated personal beliefs instead of the original intention which is voicing out immoral encounters and behaviors, to get justice for them. For example, this has been used a lot, there are feminists complaining there are too little women in technology sector and demand equal distribution of it. Statistically, there isn't much women taking up technology courses so how the hell you can get equal distribution? I don't see feminists demanding equal distribution in nursing sector. 24:10, K-Pop also has BTS and other boy bands, male and female are equally sexual objectified. You get what I mean how feminism are getting bad names for themselves? 40:36, same logic as t he technology sector. If there aren't that many female interested in politics, you not gonna get a lot of female politicians. AFAIK, korea did have female president.

I know a family that emigrated from S. Korea to the US and the specific reason was they had two daughters, who they did not want to grow up in S. Korea. They viewed S. Korea as hostile for women. Interestingly, despite moving to the US they wanted their daughters to marry Koreans, but *not* Koreans from S. Korea. Given the super low birthrates in Korea, it is apparent that Korea needs to provide families, and specifically women, with a lot more support if S. Korea is to continue to thrive as a nation.

check out internalized sexism, its something very real and happens everywhere including Asian societies. Sexism isn't something that is only perpetuated by men, women can be perpetuators too after growing up in a patriarchal society. Heck, the most patriarchal book (女戒) that restricted chinese women for centuries is written by a female. However, your personal experience of men encouraging you/women discouraging you isn't representative of society at large. Just looking at global statistics, men on women crimes happens way more frequently than women on men crimes (both exists and are bad, just clarifying. Just that the former happens way more.), men are still paid more than their female counterparts etc. You are lucky that the men in your life are supportive, but we aren't playing a game of how women more bad than men or men more bad than women. Sexism itself needs to be eradicated.

If you are treated as a suspect in sexual harassment and sexual crimes, you are basically treated as guilty, and you lose everything, even based on a mere accusation. Women who make these kinds of false accusations usually get light punishment, with only a fine for ruining someone else's life. To prevent this, men like me started to get the 'Pence Rule', but women criticized this as 'discrimination.' I saw so many women treating men like us like potential sex offenders, especially on the Internet. Some women on the Internet making fun of military soldiers made me move against Feminism. All Korean men must go on mandatory military duty, but women don't. Some women made insulting words like 'military + cance (vacation)', in Korean meaning '군캉스'. They thought men are having a vacation in the military, in truth, we are forced into military duty against our will. They even stated disagreement about increasing benefits to military soldiers, which added to my frustration.

We don't live in a world where women were expropriated and downgraded to livestock. All those pesky history books are lying to us. I agree and so does every feminist that ever existed, but nobody listens to them. You will always find deranged people spewing nonsense, hating other people because deep down they hate their own miserable existence. Most of my male friends are gay and many have adopted children. All of them are highly educated people and socially very engaged. They don't spend their free time pickling their braincells with beer or staring on some screen. All of them agree on one thing, without girls around school would have been hell for them. Now that they are adults nothing has changed, even though they are homosexual men, they still prefer the companionship of women. What I'm trying to say is, it's not us women stopping men from living a more balanced and healthy life. They are the once making fun of each other or 'solving' problems with their fists. Yes, women can be nasty and and abigger yes for the whole passive aggressive thing women do - but in a civilized world we have rules and actions have consequences. Girls simply learn that way earlier than boys do. Nobody is saying boys and men can't be victims, too, but parents on this planet tend to care more about their daughters genitals and responsibilities in life. I was still a kid, still unaware of my own existence and thoughts, when my mother talked to me about rape and unwanted pregnancy. The emphasis being, how both those things would bring huge shame over our family. There are pictures of me as a toddler, I'm trying to fold laundry or clean the floor on those pictures - they thought that was something worth capturing. I was extremely smart and capable, but nobody in my own family saw any value in that ... and I grew up in a f*cking 'First World' nation.

One thing to add, under the so called 'Patriarchy' authority and responsibility goes hand in hand. No men would reasonably expect any kind of authority given without a string of responsibilities. That is why most men would not respect any policies that attempts to separate authority with responsibility.
@AW-uv3cb
@AW-uv3cb Год назад
Under patriarchy, women are also given responsibilities (bearing children, taking care of home, managing men's emotional well-being, and these days, in most cases, ALSO having a paid job, since one wage is not enough to keep a family. Oh, and of course keeping themselves safe from violence, because if they're abused, they're often the ones blamed for it, not the abusers). Yet they're are not given equal authority and are still expected to defer to men. Meanwhile fulfilling all the duties that society expects from them, especially bearing and rising children, usually comes at the price of their financial independence, which makes them even more financially reliant on their male partners and often prevents them from leaving if the man turns out to be abusive. So the more they try to fulfil their societal responsibilities, the LESS authority and independence they have. How is that fair? Women as a whole do not and have never shirked from responsibilities. What they want is access to the same authority and financial independence that you say comes hand in hand with responsibility - and of course, they want to feel physically safe as they pursue their responsibilities and ambitions. What's so difficult to understand about it?

@waiwai5233 Год назад
@@AW-uv3cb Thanks for the constructive feedback here are some discussion points: - The example you provided above sounds like an abusive men with low financial and even emotional competence. Only a small fraction of forced relationships back in the 1920s would possibly fall within that description not to mention why family laws are so skewed against men exactly for such concerns. Most modern women are way too informed (only date top 10%), way too educated(Masters average), way too socially informed (social media) to even pay attention to such men, let alone to be their willing wives... except women who fell for his charms willingly because of his looks or success. Either way poor partner choice of the modern women is likely a separate topic or to highlight that instincts such as hypergamy will only be amplified as women get more privileges. - To reiterate no one would argue that equality of opportunities are bad, just not outcomes. Also if authority and responsibility goes hand in hand then there would be more in agreement regardless of the likely even further negative impact on nuclear families but it is expected that independent women most would not have traditional families and children will suffer. - Raising a children, having a family will have financial challenges for all adults involved, again that is why women under hypergamy will never date down or someone without financial competency unless she is infatuated by his looks/bad boy etc. Again that is why divorce laws are so skewed to ensure the children and the women are provided for upon a family breakdown under the patriarchy system where men have been designated to protect, provide and sacrifice. - Again if S. Korean women truly want to to imitate the west where relationships rarely last more than a decade, 80% divorce rate initiated by women, 80% of women only chase 20% of men. Majority of children are under single mother parents ...etc. Majority of men would not agree but fair is fair if all the current privileges afforded by the patriarchy are reversed and then Feminism can have the independence to compete with men and be subservient to their employer which seemingly is what you/they seek. Naturally nuclear families and children be damned. - "Women as a whole do not and have never shirked from responsibilities", this changes drastically depending on time and culture,but in general in the modern context: - Majority of women of legal child bearing age enjoy their freedom by having multiple partners early, numbing their ability to pair bond. They have higher education than men, chase the top 10% only and financially still expect the man to be the main source of income while hers is likely for her own discretionary reasons. Again instincts like hypergamy will unlikely change regardless of the laws and privileges. - Modern women/feminists seek equality of outcome in high paying high prestige jobs but actively avoid less glamours but still fundamental jobs such as construction, sanitation, defense, primary industries. The only jump in profession that young women unfortunately seems to be jobs that pay quick money (OF) which are unfortunately supported by all the correlating 60% of undesirable men forgotten by women and by society. If there is one thing that Feminism could do to rally the majority of men is to convince women to date, marry and look after these forgotten men, collectively known as 'simps/incels'. - In all honesty, most men are happy to sacrifice everything, to endure everything for just respect from his family. Patriarchal divorce laws in a way are actively disrespecting men by taking away their agency and resources which in turn make women disrespect their husband and respect the only true alpha male - government. Feminism that continues to promote unbalanced privileges funded by men's efforts will result in two outcomes: - The percentage of men seen as 'undesirable' by women will continue to rise. - Undesirable men will either disengage, cause problems or leave their country to seek respect elsewhere. This is already happening in America, my question is can S. Korea afford to lose these men? To conclude I appreciate your view points and only wish to highlight that what you seek may not be all positive or be 'fair' without fundamental changes and unexpected consequences.

BhavyaSingh You know that is utter nonsense. Peope are either socialized to prefer certain things or are literally shoved into certain choices. My parents were never at home, I had to practically raise my younger brothers on my own, even though we were just a few years apart and I was a kid myself. Everybody would tell me what a good teacher I would be, I was very good at understanding things very quickly and even better at explaining it to others. It was a public school, they didn't had enough math and science teachers, so some dumb and lazy teacher was supposed to teach us math. The other students started ignoring her completely and started asking me for help instead, that's how I graduated from school. But uni was the bomb, I had the best time of my life, because I was surrounded by very smart and engaged people all the time. I chose the army to prove to my father that I was once again better than him, no matter what, my baby apparatus never stopped me from being smarter or more successful. These days, I work for the government. Nothing I ever did or chose was typical 'woman', whenever people tried to force their expectations on me or insulted me for my choices in life, I showed them that they were actually the mentally challenged ones and should know their place in the food chain.

To everyone saying equality should mean mandatory military service for women, please go read up on Lee Yeram. There are women in the military by choice and this is how they are treated. Once a big dog was talking to a bull about how all animals should be equal and should consider themselves "brothers". A little dog heard his speech and called the big dog and the bull his "brothers". When the big dog heard him he got angry at him and said that he indeed wanted equality, but not for little dogs. If, like the little dog, some weak men, who fear they will not survive 18 months of mandatory military service (not sure how hard it is in S.K., but in my country before conscription was dropped, conscripts were committing suicide every year), ask to be allowed to stay home, like the women, will the feminist support them in fighting for their equal rights or will act just like the big dog (we want equal right, but not for male conscripts)?

A side-note on NewJeans and the excuse that K-Pop is only following commercial considerations. I was as appalled as many when I first heard their song "Cookie", particularly given the age of the group members. What also stands out is the contrast to another single from the same album, "Hype Boy". In the set of music videos released for this last song, 3 of the 5 group members have crushes on either other women or a non-binary person. A fourth ends up rejecting the guy she was crushing on for being a jerk. Could it be a coincidence that "Cookie" was their least successful single, while "Hype Boy" was a huge hit that broke records? Perhaps the industry can take some lessons from this, particularly once you add in the huge success that (G)-IDLE has had with their female empowerment songs and the success other newer girl groups have achieved by projecting more of a self-confident rather than suggestive image.

Whoever you are, your sexuality is your own, nobody has the right to tell who to love or share your bed with - as long as it's mutual and age appropriate of course. So many 'religious' leaders condemn two adult men or women having consenting s*x, but don't mind it when grown ass men are marrying 9 year old girls. Yes, I'm sure we just misunderstood your Sky Fairy once again. Unfortunately SEX SELLS works too well, because deep down we are still the same savage animals. Women watch for strangers drugging them but not employees. They drugged water it seemed. Many women were drugged so it's a business model for that nightclub. No man helped the drugged women. Many many women were victims only because many many men allowed it. Also, Men in South Korea just drag women at clubs and they think it's okay. Crime is only low because they get away with it.. These men deserve applause for not letting gender activists do what they want. The consequences I'm seeing in Brazil are horrific. Men who are victims of domestic or psychological violence have no space because all the resources are invested in women, even though they make up around 30% of the victims. In education, even though women are the majority in universities, the government spends even more on increasing the number of women. It's the same in health. With men accounting for 91% of homicide victims, we only hear about women being victims. Even though men account for 80-90% of homeless people, women also receive more investment. When feminism monopolizes the gender debate, men are treated as second-class citizens.

These are what feminism has created at the top of my mind: Different punishment, treatment, and lower standards of punishment/accountabilities/consequences on women offenders on false rape allegations, no equal punishment for women on committing the same crimes of a man, having more access to free scholarship (there is a special scholarship for women, not for men), there are much more funding and access from the world government and even the UN funds many feminist organizations, or any organization that "supports" women, military drafts (compulsory vs. free choice), etc. Many billionaires also secretly funds these organizations to control society and keep up the gender war and smokescreen the real problems. These problems, for example: 1. Men are assumed guilty until proven innocent. Women are assumed innocent until proven guilty under the laws. This is the most evil and twisted form of how feminism influence society to frame men are evil and women are all angels.As a woman, you can ruin a man's life just by saying that he sexually assault you (even if you're lying) and without any evidence. On the other hand, as a man, if you're sexually assaulted by a woman or a group of women, no one will believe you and you'll be told to man up, while as a woman, even if you're not a real victim, you'll be supported, believed without question. That's how western feminists dominate men especially in public discourse and can twist the truth. - Many new laws and regulations in the west were made based on this proposition. (especially laws regulating relationship between men and women) Proof: Metoo movement, believe all women movement that already cost many innocent men go into jails without due diligence. And even until much later the innocent men are found innocent, the women perpetrators do not receive any punishment, teaching more women to act whatever they like (women predators, for example). 2. Women have all the access to help when they are distressed, helpless, homeless, etc, especially in many developed western countries. They have even their own budget, sponsored by their government to help these "women". Men, on the other hand, have no access at all or very limited. For example, men's safe shelter were shutdown, protested by many feminists in the west by boycotting the funding while building many women's safe shelters. 3. Women can cancel anyone who oppose the feminism using whatever they want, supported by many organizations behind them. Universities (educational institutions), government, etc. Women who are anti-feminist are called "internalized misogynists", while men are "misogynists". Anyone who disagrees with them. Is there even any equal movement that help men? nope. 4. Gender quota and different HR treatment on men/women when they report on sexual harrassment. You can literally "fire" a man indirectly just by reporting a sexual harassment without proof. As a man, you can't do that. Literally, if any female coworker dislike a man, this female coworker can ruin the man's job and career by slandering and lying that the man made "sexual advance". In the newer regulation, even just talking about a woman negatively, can trigger HR's response for "making uncomfortable environment" for women. That is why many western men *actively* avoid any interaction with any female coworkers, unless there are other witnesses etc, refusing to mentor any women, etc. 5.Scholarship quota for women, CEO quota, and any position quota imposed by laws to "accommodate" women, regardless of competence and job markets/conditions and demographics. Many feminists especially work hard in many "strategic" and easy-cushioned jobs that net them the most, while ignoring other "inequality" in low-level jobs like garbage collecting, bricklaying, frontline soldiers, etc. In sum, the equality proposed by feminism is actually equality for me, but not equality for you, which is a form of injustice or equity. This is understandable because feminism is rooted from past grievance, envy, and actually does not support real equality at all, and only centered on women's needs and wants. The proponents of feminism have become the oppressor and men-haters but they, of course, crying victims and never look at the other side and many have twisted the truth to support their own agenda/narratives making everyone miserable. Thus, I can safely say, the root cause of the gender war is feminism, making women insufferable and always antagonistic or passive-aggressive, while making men actively avoiding women or being indifferent to evade the unjust, misandrist, gynocentric laws and regulations. At least, there is one positive side, though, Men have learned from this and now know the real nature of toxic women, which boils down to toxic femininity. Thanks to feminism.

@Seto Kaiba Your answer proves feminism supports sexism against men and misandrists without equal punishment. I understand your stance, though. Because without feminism, women will be left behind and it will anger the simps and whiteknights who have been helping you folks in destroying the healthy relationship between men and women in the west. And the laws and government fully support these "empowerment". Good luck for the future implosion, hopefully! I could care less for the destruction they made themselves.

@Seto Kaiba Here is my response: 1. Reality says otherwise. There is a social experiment that what you say is totally incorrect. The social experiment shows a man and a woman, both are actor and actress for the sake of experiment. They act as if they are fighting. a. When the woman hit the man in the public, the public just not bat even an eye, and even some women that were interviewed said that "Oh, that must be the man's fault that the woman was angry" and many similar comments along the line when the video was published. b. However, when the man hit the woman in the public, many came to the rescue, especially some women even call the police. You see the difference here? JD/AH case proves that your point is FALSE. And there ARE MANY OTHER BURIED/HIDDEN CASES where men are unjustly portrayed as potential sex offender WHILE WOMEN ARE NOT. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE! WOMEN CAN ALSO BE A SEX OFFENDER, USING DIFFERENT METHOD. DO YOU THINK WOMEN DON'T HAVE ANY AGGRESSION? DIFFERENT METHOD, BUT EVEN MORE DESTRUCTION, MORE LIES. 2. A policy is a policy/laws NO MATTER AND HOWEVER YOU SPIN IT and once it enforces, it has the POWER TO BE ENFORCED. Anytime, it can used or implemented AT WHIMS. The problem is that these laws are obscure UNTIL IT NEEDS TO BE USED AND IMPLEMENTED BY THE GOVERNMENT. The point is: - A woman can potentially destroy a man's life, reputation, family, job, career. - A man will not be believed unless he's not an average joe, even then, the case of JD AND AH proves it otherwise. 3. YOU THINK CANCELLING IS NOT A POWER?? IF YOU HAVE A COMPANY AND THEN A WOMAN LIES THAT THE OWNER (A MAN) that he sexually harrases her then charged and have his registry as sexual offender for something that HE DOES NOT DO, AND EVEN IF HE CAN PROVES THAT HE IS INNOCENT, HOW DO YOU PAY THE REPUTATION, TIME, RELATIONSHIP, ETC. that have been ruined? If you think this is not power, this is the epitome of evil and inequality, i.e., feminism. 4. If you say that, women can also be potential false accusers, potential domestic violence abusers, potential fakers. But, there is NO LAWS YET THAT PUNISHES THESE FALSE ACCUSERS!!! 5.At the expense of men that are more competent and should have the access, but denied just because he has something between his crotch and replaced by a woman JUST BECAUSE she is a woman. Good luck with the hypocrisy.

They cherry pick the sexy jobs and don't want equality in the real* jobs, women take less risks in general in life and so they don't make it to the top. Reaching the top requires take risk, compromising on work-life balance, becoming obsessed about the work - thou these many seem life toxic choice to many, the very few who make it choose it willingly majority of whom happen to be men. Then they say why is the board of directors 80-90 % men.

I am glad my woman is Indonesian. Her country goes with women emancipation not feminism 😂 they still do their destiny as a woman. 😊 And she is happy to be woman, and I am happy to have her and spoil her. She is good at cooking, caring etc. 😊 Perhaps, Indonesian women is one of option to find a girl as a wife. They're not contaminated with those crackheads. Thanks to their government. 😊
