2:25 - You're making a lot of false assumptions. For example the more good looking baby could end up getting raped more, getting ostracised by less good looking people, end up with more social problems, say if they just aren't very good at communicating with people as they lose their looks with age, end up with more stress then the ugly child, which from a young age ends up with a close nit bunch of friends, which don't care about looks, support each other and generally do better. Simply being good looking doesn't lead to a better life, it really depends on the community you live in and how people think in those areas... this example depends too much on instinct, but this only really works with animals that don't think as much as humans do.

@TheAnax 11 Only if people don't think and only act on instincts.

lol, he just gave an analogy to explain the concept of how the environment can affect gene which is the same thing you just said about " being good looking doesn't necessarily lead to a good life". If you take a less superficial understanding to his teaching, you would see that you both are describing the same phenomenon. But if you still think he is making false assumption about the baby who isnt all good looking, then you are also making a false assumption abt the baby who is good looking

@@ifeatuobasi8941 - It's kind of implied in society that being good looking will lead to an easier life. But I don't think it's true, I think learning skills and being smart will lead to a better life long term. :) You would have to first define what good looking is, and then measure what a good life is, and then ask people if they think they have a good life. So there is always going to be assumptions here. I think the aim should be to get skills you can practically use to make life better for yourself, over worrying about looks. Also creating a look you like to me is more aligned with a skill, since you're changing how you look.

@@TheaDragonSpirit but aren't most people thriving mainly on instincts? We go for the apparent without considering the reality of it

@@oldlahore1857 I don't understand what you mean? Are you saying that people don't think things through a lot?
