Crazy to see Rosolino sooo young and without his mustache

My first love of jazz started around 1950 when I heard B Bop. I didn't really understand what it was about, I just liked the sound. It was so different from what I'd heard, up till then. "Lemon Drop" became a great favourite when I heard Gene's version. I had no idea till recently that the scat bop was by Frank Rosolino. Later on Woody made a version and I think Frank was in his trombone section at the time, but I'm not sure about that. All I know is that "Lemon Drop" and Stan Kenton's "Peanut Vendor started me on a musical journey that I'm lucky enough to still be on.

This is a wonderful clip of the genius of drumming man Gene Krupa. Rare Footage of that ace drumming man. I find this to be a superlative way of watching and hearing a magic drummer man and his fantastic big band. I know Gene also used Gerry Mulligan for the modern bop arrangements. I want to thank you very very much for giving us the thrill of hearing and seeing Gene and Buddy and Louie in their element. once again very grateful for all of your efforts.

I love the absurdist humor of Frank suddenly appearing as a waiter in the crowd and then being on the bandstand again. Its a laugh out loud moment for me.

I wich i cant' buy this movies, on dvd, Universal, hade so maney jazz short films from 40s and 50s Frank Rosolino is my favorite on trombone and Bob Brokmeyer.

Genius showman & drummer. Loved his ensemble work as well. 1959 album, Krupa at the London House ,was a masterpiece. Loved his ride cymbal on "Take the A Train"- really locked in with the bass player.

Crazy, man! Who was on bongos? Were the vocals by Dolores Hawkins? This is sublime! I know that eventually Max Roach and Buddy Rich could outplay him, but there's a warmth, a depth, to the Krupa sound that no other drummer could match. Honestly, the only other drummer who moves me this much is Tony Williams. Ray Baduc wasn't bad, either!
