Brings back memories of me Riding to work with my daddy when I was 18yrs. Work started at 7:00 a.m. we got there at 6:15 a.m.🤬🤬🤬🤬 Boy do I miss him and getting to work at 6:15 a.m.😢😢😢
Brings back so many good memories of my childhood! I've been a "classic" country junkie all my life. It never gets old! Wish we had real country singers like this on the radio today!
I really like Gene Watson and especially this song. The part about laying by the railroad tracks in Denver has special meaning for me. Denver's my hometown!!! Plus it's just a great song. Also like "Sometimes I Get Lucky And Forget"! Thank you for uploading and sharing!!
One of the Greatest... EVER!!! Such a humble man, talked to me for awhile backstage at the fair. Down to earth, and genuine. He deserves to be inducted into The Hall Of Fame....This is an injustice to such a wonderful entertainer

I still recall the morning that I met you Standing out in front of Wilson's Five and Dime Staring through the window at the jewelry Hungry for the things you couldn't buy Just like a fool I thought that I could please you I saw you had an eye for things that shine I paid seven saw mill dollars for a bracelet Just to satisfy your fourteen carat mind Laying by these railroad tracks in Denver With a hurting head and a half a pint of wine Everything except my soul has been surrendered Just to satisfy your fourteen carat mind ********** The cabin that I built in West Virginia Was not enough to keep you satisfied 'Cause a man that's got a saw mill occupation Can't afford to feed a rich girls' appetite I wonder if you're still with Willie Jackson Sometimes I wonder if he's still alive Old Willie he gave up his wife and children Just to satisfy your fourteen carat mind Laying by these railroad tracks in Denver With a hurting head and a half a pint of wine Everything except my soul has been surrendered Just to satisfy your fourteen carat mind ********** Just to satisfy your fourteen carat mind.....
I traded seven sawmill dollars for a bracelet, man I know about sawmill dollars. He means he worked real hard at the sawmill for those dollars. This song and Farewell Party are my favorites by Gene.
@@genewatson8720 thank you for taking the time to stop here! Every fan deserves a chance to interact with their favorite celebrity once in their lives. This is a beautiful song, and wouldn’t have sounded right without your skilled voice!
+Daniel Burns I was a young lad back then. I grew up hearing Gene & many of his contemporaries on the radio. I'm glad this song did as well as it did. :)
Nicest country singer I have ever met. Family friend use to manage him. Met him one night in Bran, Texas. Sat on his bus and enjoyed some country music history.
A #1 hit for Gene Watson on the Country & Western charts. It was the 588th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It was also the first new #1 C&W song of 1982, knocking off Alabama's Love in the First Degree. What will the C&W scene be like in the new year? Stay tuned.
Love this song…reminds me of my step dads story….. wife took everything, house he built by hand in West Virginia, kids and all. He went down a whiskey hole, but kept working hard. He’s remarried and a millionaire now 🤣😎😎😎😎😎😎😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I went with my mother to see him in concert last night. Turns out that it's his 75th birthday. 10/11/2018. It was a good show. I mostly enjoyed the time with my mom!

They don’t make music like this anymore, it’s sad that as we move forward in life how everything changes as we age this kind of music touches my heart ❤

I remember when this came out, and I spun it on the old Gates Turntables at KNIX. This is when country was country. Gone are those days, but glad we have the memories to play.

Been there too, pal. Country music is a great healer because it's real, and because a good artist (like Gene) can hit you where it's hurting. After a few months alone and finding out what was going on, my healing song became "Thank God and Greyhound She's GONE!" LOL Thank you Mr. Clark!!
I saw him at the SEMO river campus here in Cape Girardeau MO with my dad. August 2018. We knew what expect. He did not disappoint, put his heart and soul into the show. I was 35, and one just a few under 60. Wouldn’t trade that day for anything
