Genesis’s finest hour…

Drumming in the latter half of this track is outstanding, real “kick ass” stuff. I base most of my assessment of Mr Collins drumming mainly on this, I really don’t think it could be bettered. Bravo, the rest of the band are pretty monumental also.

Terrific sound quality. Brilliant musicianship. Phil's drumming is ... leaves me speechless. The young man was certainly in his prime.

A long since dumped girlfriend of mine used to tell me (in `77) that this was dated. I wonder what she has to say about it now? I play it even more now than I did then.

Collins really had a beautiful voice. Such a glaring realization when he enters midsection. Then his time to shine on the drum at the end, he's soaring with Banks.

I love it when a band plays a variety of different meters. Some bands don't even play anything in 3/4 time, or 6/8 time. Brubeck launched the odd meter trend with the album Time Out in '59. You can really hear the influence of that album in Jesus Christ Superstar released in 1970. The Temple Song is in seven time. Tarkus in '71 from ELP opens in 5/4. Lark's Tongue in Aspic Part 2 has a great 5/4 theme. Debussey usded 9/8 for Clare de Lune. The Mission Impossible theme is in 5/4. Back then, jazz was often a huge component of pop and especially progressive pop./rock.
