Hey just did the tablet mod and pioneer radio like you did the issue I have is my car is not my daily driver I only drive it on the weekends so from Sunday to Saturday my tablet battery is dead and it charges while I am in the car but it has to be turned back on the problem is I have to pull the tablet out to do that and my bezel is painted and I don’t want to be chipping it up. So my question is do you know of a way that I don’t have to do this every Saturday when I get in the car. My tablet is a Nexus 7. Maybe an app that I could load onto the tablet? Love the channel keep up the good work.
i know this video is old and i'm sure maybe you've answered this before but to your knowledge could I (with the premium nav screen) simply replace the stock nav screen head unit with an apple carplay head unit without going double din? I wouldn't need the tablet and just want a more modern screen with apple carplay really. A response would be hugely appreciated thank you!!
You can. Wiring the harness for the new radio is different since your factory radio has an amp mounted behind the back seat. You speaker wire hookups have to go to the amp and then back to the car harness otherwise you won’t have any sound.

That’s one of the problems I was having you’d have to take off the bezel and pull it out to turn it back on. Check out my last video I posted. I go over some of the issues I was having with the tablet setup.

Hey for your climate control problems, Buy A product called maestro RR (its a universal car radio display) itll connect to the radio and it has everything that the old radio had! It connects to the av ports
What happens with the steering wheel buttons, handsfree bluetooth, and climate controls?? Do the still work? functionality on the tablet or what? Thanks!
for the bk1 2010 do you know if a tablet could be installed. Mines already has navigation system but I'm also going to be upgrading that soon. Also great videos very informative.
Thanks! There are a bunch of videos out there on the BK1 tablet installation. I did the one on the bk2 because when I searched for a Bk2 install video on RU-vid I didn’t see anything by bk1. Its very similar just a different center console bezel
Hey Tim, hope all is well. I noticed that you have the tablet back in. Will you be doing an update video on that? Mine has been quite a pain, so I'm interested to see what you have done. Also, any advice on wrapping that top piece in carbon fiber would be greatly appreciated. I've gotten every other piece done, but I Just can't nail the "window" section on the top piece, the wrap keeps tearing when trying to stretch into all the corners. Much appreciated!
I may be doing a follow up on it. And yeah that top part is a pain to wrap. Took my wrap off of it because I wasn’t happy with it. Haven’t redone it yet though.
how are you? i have been watching your videos for a good time now but decided I wanted to put a this tablet into my car but I have the 2013 2.0t but with the navigation system but I cant seem to find a bazel for it idk if you know where I could get one
I noticed you have Netflix on the tablet, have you tried connecting that tablet to the radio via Bluetooth so you can hear the audio from the tablet thru the car?
I use the on that sleeps the tablet when disconnected from power. Then I have a 5 second display of setting in the tablet display settings. That way when the car shuts off the tablet sleeps after 5 seconds.
Tim, you have motivated me to start doing MODs on my 2014 2.0T... I want to update my center console with the tablet also but I have the stock NAV unit...Can you offer any guidance?

Working on the mustang definitely opened my eyes quite a bit to the idea. Not sure I want to put that much money into it right now. Seriously looking at doing coilovers though.
Great video Tim! I'm curious if you experimented with any other tablets? I see the modifications you made to the bezel to accommodate the physical buttons on the Samsung. I'm wondering if I can get the Tab 8 or the 8 inch Lenovo tablet to fit the bezel. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I didn't try a larger tablet. The inner part of the bezel is completely removable but in not sure if it would accommodate an 8" tablet and give enough room to secure the tablet to the rest of the bezel.
@@VehicleEvolution - Thanks. I ended up going with a 7" Huawei T3 Media Tablet -- no physical buttons, just some pre-loaded nonsense I had to dispose of. I'm a big Samsung fan, but there's no way I would have been able to dremel that cut-out as cleanly as you did.
I’m using the Maestro SW but I had a defective module. They are sending a new one and I’ll finish the video once it comes and I know everything is working right.
Hey I did the whole install today and everything works great but no sound!!! Any help? I tried connecting the blue/white wire to the red and still nothing
That system has an amplifier as part of the premium stereo setup. Your wires in the harness for the speakers need to go to the amplifier for the sound to work.
I’ll have to look and see. I got a message a while ago from a subscriber who ran into the same issue and he sent me photo of the set up when he got it working. I’ll see if I can find that
The only ones I use is the one to turn it on when power is connected and the one to turn it off when power is disconnected. That way it comes on and off when the car turns on and off.
I set a rule for when you shut the car off it goes to home screen and it shuts off automatically without having to manually exit dashcommand. But I'm still having the battery drain issue. Have u figured something out about this? Maybe root it and delete unneeded crap?
No. I get the charge symbol but the problem I have had is that this tablet is slow to charge and the dash command app seems to use a lot of power. Looking for alternatives at the moment.
I wish I did. Looking into different tablets and programs. Possibly some.kimd.of quick charge device mounted in the glove box and hooked to it. Not really sure yet.

Hey Great video. I'm in Ontario Canada . I got a 2016 Genesis Coupe GT 3.8. I suggest carbon fiber. But it may look better in Matt black cabon fiber. I tried using gloss ...it kind looks fake. Im also using same APP dash command. I'm finding very accurate works great! Thanks

Tim, my tablet will not shut down when dashcommand is running unless I go back to my home screen and minimize the app. Seems like the app wants to run, power or not despite my AutomateIt rules. Did you run into this? Thank you.
@@VehicleEvolution - Thanks so much for the prompt reply. I think I have it figured out. When I turn the car off, it locks the screen and turns the display off. For some reason, I wasn't able to simulate it with an AC plug, but it works in the car. This has been a helluva project and I thank you for posting all these very helpful videos. I still have to re-wrap the tablet trim -- keeps tearing on the inner corners when I try to stretch it. That's easily the toughest piece of the three to get it right. The Metra kit just took time.
