Today 12 years ago my oldest brother past away at the age of 51 due to cancer. As a child and young adult I spend hours listening to and sharing our love for music with him. Genesis was always there and especially Follow you follow me. It's always bitter sweet to listen to this song. One sentence out of this song is tattood on my arm in rememberance of my brother. Thank Genesis for all their great music!❤
We had the original a few weeks ago walking down the aisle together . Lots of memories from when we 1st went out in 1980 or 81 going to a Genesis concert at the N.E.C in Birmingham ( UK ). Nearly 30 yrs later we met up again , we have always been there for each other , not just the sharing good times which anyone can do but also helping each other thru the bad times . The lyrics to this song are perfect for us
Not a lot of songs anymore that you could break down to such the basic pieces and still have something so beautiful. This is wonderful and I'm happy to have heard it.

My wife followed me from NY to CT, then a few years ago to FL. Now as my time grows short i want her to follow me to heaven when 30 years or so her time comes

The secrets of the longevity of this band as trio are: lack of ego battle, sense of group and real triendship. Genesis was Banks, Collins and Rutherford.
@@TherealShabbadang Hackett said bad thing about the band in 1977. He said he was tired of playing songs like "Supper's Ready" every night. Tony Banks was dominant in compositions at that time BUT he created best songs compared to Hackett at that time. Peter Gabriel don't plays Genesis music. Your repertoire sustains your show. The same can't be with Steve Hackett. He too cash with the music of Genesis. He left out the band and never was call to go back. I think Steve could focus first in you art but since 2012 he cash with the music of Genesis. He don't were strong as composer on the band as Banks, Rutherford and Gabriel.
I always think that as soon as Phil starts to sing the first few bars that Im in totally relaxed and swept away but his voice. so glad we saw Genesis in concert.
This is the song that really led me to Genesis as a very young kid and yes I continue to follow them while I live :-) Was so happy to finally get to see them live in October 2021 :-)
@@IntoTheWhite04 Who do you think plays the drums when recording the songs? Chester Thompson played when they did concerts and Phil played the drums when Gabriel was lead singer back in the day.
My first Genesis tune back in 1981 doing bongs down in my best friends basement and really never heard of Genesis but heard this and never looked back.. My favorite band and always will be.

It’s a beautiful song,one of the most simple songs they have done but that doesn’t make it any less great. Like fine food,sometimes it’s just about a few great ingredients coming together. One of their best and opened them up to a new market of fans

This song was on the ATTW3 album, released in '78. Mike wrote these lyrics....apparently, after he married the woman whom he is still married to, in 1977. Which I think gives this tune depth and total authenticity.

It's actually pretty easy if you're a musician; you're keeping time mentally anyway, so this is just transferring that to your hands while you are singing. Now, the guys who can sing lead vocals while whipping out lead guitar parts at the same time (or wicked bass lines, ala Geddy Lee in the band Rush)... THEY blow my mind. :)
Upon first listening to this song I was impressed by the soothing vocals. Asked myself, who is that? That song & voice were meant for each other, I don’t think anyone can top it.
Well it is not my favorite Genesis Song, but still we can hear they are brillant musicians. No drums, but the groove is wonderful and they are really together. Okay I prefer songs like "Firth of Fofth" or "Ripples", but still they are playing great.
To all of my friends who argue that no Gabriel and Hackett equals no Genesis, this one song proved them absolutely WRONG. PS It's my favorite of theirs, the karaoke crowd always loved it!
