Man, I really feel like I can't really give you any advice here. You're fair, concise and balanced, and aren't presenting your beliefs in any heavy-handed way, so I think you have a large potential to reach a wider audience. You have great insight, demonstrating that you've truly thought these things through, and this is a great idea. I can literally see it as becoming the future concise biblical overview. Great work, Brandon. I'm proud to be an early subscriber and glad the algorithm's working for you with your numbers growing. I think you deserve it.

My only suggestion would be to put in timestamps for your subheadings, that might be handy. And are you limiting yourself to ca. 30mins per video? As I feel there's scope for so much more. Maybe not for all books, but dense ones like Genesis or King's, take the time you need to do what you have to. Which is basically asking you to do more work, I know!

Two years ago, I decided that things were crazy in the world, and I needed to get closer to God. I had not been involved in a church on a regular basis since my childhood, and I am 63. I bought a beautiful new Bible and a Concordance. I decided to read the Bible from beginning to end, something I had never done. So many problems! When I got to the story of Lot hosting the Angels, and him having to protect them from those that wanted them for sex- what, they can't protect themselves? And then he offered his two virgin daughters? No one would do that. I put it down for a month. I went back and read through Leviticus. And I have not read another page. The bible is a sick book, about a sick God. Preachers cherry-pick the verses they want you to know, tell you what they mean, and if you never read it for yourself, you will never figure it out. Thank you for this series, and your channel. You are confirming what I had decided for myself two years ago.

I'll always love the Tower of Babel story. The one time in human history where everyone got along and stood together and then God was like, "Well, we can't be having that!" 😂😂😂 Seriously though, this was great stuff. Great overview of probably the most influential book in human history. And even though I know it had to hurt when you eventually came to no longer view it as you were brought up to view it (I've been there) I'm glad you can still appreciate the artistic value of it. And I'm reminded of a Genesis joke: After God made Adam, Adam complained to God that he was lonely and needed a female of his own. God said, "Ok, but it'll cost you an arm and a leg." And Adam said, "Hmm. Well, what can I get for a rib?" 🤣

The Bible has trees existing long before oceans, it also promotes whales are birds that adapted to flying in water after about 4M years the adapting was finished. 3 species, things that fly, things that swim and things that walk on dry land. Another common misconception: Eve was deceived and she deceived Adam later. Nope! She just does all the talking in this scene and is the one to physically pick the fruit. Adam is standing right there the entire time, silent, and he passively takes some of the fruit Eve picks. Gen. 3:6 "So she took some of the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her. And he ate it."

And god being omni aware of everything also doesn't know and doesn't ask eve her take or else he'd hear (yet he also knew before creating them) that eve used gods own words to attempt to not eat the fruit. Which would be rewarded given how god says he is at first. Then she gave it to adam who didn't say or do shit a male who knew all in the garden like her yet somehow didn't think the fruit he knew was the do not eat fruit was in his palms and he choose to ate it which god who for some reason asked adam not eve of things & adam who was present at the same meeting with god as she was who said "don't eat this fruit" meaning adam not only shows he didn't listen to god but saw the fruit and ate it by choice so god should've killed adam right off and either made eve asexually reproducing or killed adam and made a new adam cuz god already created adam knowing he'd choose to sin. so adam caused all the down fall of all males and sin for mankind in the world yet god played favorites he decided dick who chose to eat the fruit without protest was the one to lead women anywhere? Weird sounds like guys wrote this to brainwash women to follow males off cliffs. Truly very fake story god makes no sense and is inconsistent and what he does is likewise before we even get to he knew before he made them what would happen yet also shows in the narrative he doesn't know things as he can't find them.

These were things I came across myself when I deconstructed * How can Adam and Eve be sinners and held accountable for disobeying god if they couldn't know it was wrong to disobey god in the first place? * the Adam and Eve story is myth because logically it makes no sense. * How can you disobey when the tree itself that you’re eating from allows you to understand the concept of disobeying. So logically they didn’t disobey because they have no concept of what disobeying even was until the fruit allowed them to understand what disobeying was….. * Cain marries outside his family despite him supposedly being the only 3rd human in existence. * Tower of Babel makes no sense mathematically or scientifically. From the 100 years between Noah and the Tower of Babel, there wouldn’t have been enough population of people produced to create the tower. It’s like a small family reunion building a massive tower… * Tower of Babel violates Freewill. • abraham likely didn't exist. • ... or moses • there was no exodus (no sign of hebrews in egypt, no signs of what 2million people + stuff stamping the earth would have left behind, no encampments on the sinai peninsula... it's so bad that archaeologists who went to find evidence of the encampment (i.e. refuse piles, latrines, dropped stuff) by mount sinai couldn't find... mount sinai itself, because the mountain appears to not exist) • the israelites didn't kill all the canaanites - they WERE canaanites (it appears that they were all one collection of people, and at some point the "israelites/jews" became the dominant faction) * In the stories of the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac Jacob) we read about camels and caravans of camels, although the stories happened before the camels were domesticated in the Levant region and before the trade routes of camel caravans opened. The reason it was even mentioned was that the books were written later, in the days of the camel trade, by people who did not know it was a relatively recent development. * Not at all unusual for hymens to break on their own, so it's pretty much a guarantee that this God-ordained legislature had innocent girls killed

When I was studying this, I was being told the whole universe was created in just the first verse, and the explanation unfolds from there. I was also told the light for the first three days was God himself. But that wouldn't work for a morning and an evening, because they also say God's light is omnidirectional and shines everywhere all at once.

I would add, or clarify, that Genesis explains natural disasters and political/military defeats in moral terms. The flood and other phenomena were the result of sin. Successive defeats and enslavements were due to disobedience, not to the weakness of their god. This got the prophets off the hook for all their mistakes. The eterna promises of better days has served their purpose down to this day. Amazing

I love this! If I may suggest one thing: "Secular" may be more inviting than "Unholy," just a thought, but overall, I love this! I'm here for it!!! The only reason I suggested a name change is that I wanna be able to share this with Christians without scaring them into thinking it's evil right away. Personally, speaking only for myself, I hope for my Christian loved ones to come to something like this with an open mind because, for them, this is a thing to be met with skepticism already. They are the skeptics here, not us. My hope is for them to better understand how someone can live a secular life without words like "devil," hell," "unholiness," or "evil." I can only bring myself to understand secular things without holding myself to unrealistic "holy" ideals. I'm sorry if this is socially wrong, I have some social awkwardness, and I'm never certain if I'm saying the wrong thing. I like this video, so I don't mean it as an insult in any way to anyone. I have medically diagnosed mental health conditions that nearly fade away without religion. Devils and demons used to be very real to me, they still are to my mother, for example, and she would never read or watch anything titled "unholy." I was of the same mind back when I was "in the faith." The title of this video alone woulda scared me. I can't promise my parents will ever watch anything "secular" either, but I can promise they'll NEVER willingly watch anything "unholy." Just some friendly food for thought.

This is an exciting series, but I have some recommendations. The 10 points have quite a bit of overlap and I think you should try to isolate each point to itself, especially the book overview. I'd prefer the overview in a much more traditional and sequential explanation. Beginning middle, end. "Our story starts with X, who is given Y by Z" Etc, etc. You summarize it as if we already know a lot when some people might know nothing. It's done and also interjecting with themes and interpretations which you go over in their later sections of the video. I'm making this recommendations because I think you're awesome and I want to see more . Thanks and keep it up

Here's a huge biblical fallacy. God first created light. What kind of light was it? Who knows. Then, on day 4, God created two lights, a great light to rule the day and a lesser light to rule the night. I think it's safe to say that those two lights he's referring to were the sun and the moon. He also created the stars on day 4. Wait, isn't the sun also a star? I guess somebody forgot to tell God that. Also, since there weren't any stars for the first three days, where did light come from? Oh, I forgot. Plants were created on day 3. I guess somebody forgot to tell God that plants need sunlight for photosynthesis to survive and not just water. You know, this "intelligent" designer isn't really that intelligent. This is all in Genesis chapter 1.

I remember when I took a religious studies course at the first university I attended. It mostly just focused on the Abrahamic ones - not so much as to possibly train prospective preachers, but it still focused on the big three more than the rest. One day, the professor played Religulous. I was the only one laughing throughout the Christian stuff, and one of my classmates got mad at me for that. When she asked me how I could laugh at it, I said, "I was raised in this. It absolutely deserves to be ridiculed for being taken so seriously." I was not quite non-religious then, but I was certainly alreadh on my towards being such by the time this happened. Similarly, I got similiar crap when Passion of the Christ first came out. Back then, I had not started my journey to becoming non-religious, but even then, when some people asked me why I wouldn't watch the movie, I kept telling them, "Because unlike you apparently, I've read the book, and not only that, did so multiple times, studied it, analyzed it, wrote about, put it through the cross-examination rigor and all that. I don't need a movie that takes massive amounts of liberty with the source material being presented to me as 'the holiest interpretation.' I'll stick with Ben Hur or Jesus Christ Superstar for that, thank you."
