mihoyo (genshin impact developer) actually fighting ccp by moving their server to canada and singapore, they even change the company name so they can get away from ccp, so its kinda sad how you think anything that comes from china is under ccp control and have no mind of their own, so can i start blaming you guys for all child labor and human rights violation by the western companies like apple, nestle and nike to you guys cause you also from the west? brain 404 huh? im disappointed by this channel
As someone who does play this game, I agree with nick's sentiment, it is a gacha hell, but it is quite fun, definitely only play it if you truly have self control.
I have self control, but honestly the true suffering is in the Artifact farming. Gacha hell is nothing compared to that and is what caused me to drop the game.
So just to clarify a couple thing, the video is mostly right with a couple exceptions 1) You get 180 resin a day and you can get extra just by playing 2) Mihoyo got so tired of China's bullshit that they made a branch in canada and moved the global server there Not saying you should or shouldn't play it, just making sure you are informed about it
Oh I didn't know about the second part. That makes me significantly more comfortable with giving them money tbh. Because this is the type of game I willingly support. Sure it has it's flaws. But if I like a game. I will support the devs. And I LOVE genshin. I'm no whale can't afford to be. But I drop the odd buck here and there if I have some spare change.
Fun fact: Noelle is a character who's basically limited by her constellations. She's a jack of all trade, master of none, and is really good once built properly, you can use your effort to build other characters which focuses on specific attributes, but Noelle once build properly is basically a one man army, and all she needs is a geo battery character.
@@Ikarugashi i already have 1 team built, i need another team but i want to do mono geo team build so yeah I'm praying 2.6 got noelle in there somewhere
If you are not planning to spend months on it, you don't need to spend any money It is perfectly functional as it is, and exploration + combat are extremely fun and fluid. Plus dialogues and quests are written very well, and doing them is a pleasure - especially the ones starting from Liyue Install it, try it for few hours - and you might be surprised of how much fun you having with it
@@brianhm23 i am simply addressing people who have pre-conception that you HAVE to spend money on this sort of games to be able to progress (or whatever)
At first when the game came out it was indeed close to Zelda BOTW but after a year of monthly updates and expansions, it's difficult to say that anymore. Not to mention the game is still very young, as in there is still a scheduled addition of 4 more regions(because the map is divided by region) to be added and we are currently are on 3(game came out with 2) And when I say regions, I mean continent size ones and so they have to insert parts of it piece by piece. The first 2 regions are not even fully inserted, there are still parts of their respective territories that are to be added in the future. As for how we know all this info? Well the devs themselves tells us or leaks us the plans including a full picture of the whole game map in which we can see that the current map is not even 1/4 of it.(it's also excluding underground maps) So yeah, when Maxor says the exploration is Genshin's strongest part it is because the devs also knows and planned for that to be the case. Also the game devs, Mihoyo, are making steps to leave Chinese censorship/influence and so I don't think they themselves wants to be used as a Chinese spyware.
the game company sadly doesn't actually really like most the rules and stuff chinaa does but like they live there and work so they can't do much they moved a little out but still near
Just sayin, I have played Genshin for almost 2 years now (and still playing btw) that I can confirm that what Max0r said was all true, except very exaggerated
@@martinSyaah in a sense yeah, your main dps can handle so much damage before getting KO'd so that's why healing is a big factor in the game. You also have to get lucky with artifacts with stats like HP and Defense in order to keep up with the hits, but also ATK and CRIT for damage
Honestly, after 1.5 years of constant 6 week upgrades, Genshin has way more content, exploration, and interesting quests and grinds then BotW, Ive sank a solid 120 hours into BotW and love it, but ive sank 600 hours now into Genshin, thats the big difference, its as if when you finish BotW, you would constantly get new upgrades, improvements, story, new game elements, and new events to mess about in. Yes it has gacha, but considering you can play the full story and get 100% completion with 0 spent, its really not an issue.
Caleb, Micah’s brother, used to always post the reaction time stamp way back in the early days of this channel and do it anonymously at times. After Nate pointed this out, it became tradition to thank anyone who posted the time stamp with “Thanks Caleb”
Genshin Impact, aka the “side project” of a game company founded by Evangelion fanboys, Mihoyo. (Their main baby is Neon Genesis Bayonetta May Cry, aka Honkai Impact) It’s their sixth game. SIXTH, not first, as many not familiar with the company would attest.
@@funnynamelol3156 That's a small portion of the community, and I get why: Without Honkai's success, Genshin wouldn't exist. If the community didn't love the company that made said game, Genshin wouldn't have a name either. That being said, that's just a small portion. They're loud, yes, but not indicative of the whole community. There's also another small portion that are overprotective of the game (gatekeepers), and hate anyone from Genshin coming into the game. Some are within justifiable reason (the Genshin anniversary fiasco comes to mind. that sure pissed a lot of people off in the community as well), and the rest are just stupid (trying to drive away Genshin content creators. Remember Tectone when he wanted to try?) Most Honkai players love people coming in to enjoy the game or the game's lore (And meta. Don't forget about the meta and numbers) They are usually either horny, depressed, or both.
The Luhua Pool Massacre is more a reference to Tiananmen Square, I would say. Nanking was Japanese super funtime during WW2, so I imagine China would be more than happy to remind the world of that particular incident.
I have been stuck in this damned game since month one, and I love it! Edit: Went through picture gallery and mightve been playing a few days after it came out, damn
So way back when this video was posted, Max was basically 100% correct. Now though? Only about 80% correct. With Inazuma came more content, more story, more characters and an absolutely gorgeous new set of 6 islands to explore. Max originally said the story wasn’t much to look at back at chapter 1 out of 8 and we’re not even at chapter 3 yet but the game is going places. Dark places. Also, Chinese surveillance state begone because they are now Hoyoverse in Canada because they hate the CCP. China is still getting fucked over by their decisions but the CCP can’t make Hoyoverse do anything any more besides censor things specifically for the CN servers. And yes, Genshin was very much like BOTW except now we’ve got suic1de, depression, anxiety, more suic1de and abuse. Maybe even substance abuse, but that’s unconfirmed. I did say the game was dark.
Playing these kind of games for free really isn't that hard. Just gotta have self control and be smart with the resources you get for free instead of throwing them at every banner.
Gacha is not a problem if you have self-control and ability to manage resources, cause genshin has guarantee system. You literally can play without spending a cent, and get characters too, though you don't really need any particular ones to progress the game Genshin is COMPLETELY different from Botw, it's been a year, can we stop comparing already Also, Maxor's video is fun but kinda outdated and misleading
as for comparing Genshin exploration to Elden Ring exploration, there's a huuuuge difference in Genshin, you can climb and hover - which means there are no "walls" in this game that could stop you. You can even freeze water and make yourself ice paths. Second, loot in Genshin is usually hidden behind mini-puzzles or clever placement, so looking for it is fun Third, fighting in Genshin is tactical; when you see a random group of enemies - you wanna rush them simply coz you enjoy your combos and fluidity of battle (killing monsters gives you nothing), while killing regular mobs in Elden is only done for grind And finally, map in Genshin is huuuuge and packed to the brim with all sort of hidden things. Very often you backtrack and suddenly find something you have missed, sometimes praising devs for their sneakiness tl;dr - in Elden, you explore coz you need something. In Genshin - you explore coz you the process itself is fun and engaging
"in Elden, you explore coz you need something" I'm sorry but that's completely wrong. Ask anyone who is actually enjoying Elden Ring and 9 out 10 time they'll tell you otherwise including me. I agree with all the points you made about Genshin but please don't try to downplay Elden Ring while doing so. The sheer variety of terrain and enemies in ER is simply unmatched. I'm playing both and both have some of the best exploration, although both are very different from each other in what they're trying to present in the matter of exploration.
@@armaani11 i'm not trying to downplay it per se It is just that both games have different goals/focuses. Souls series focuses on combat with bosses, while genshin focuses in exploration. And since i was talking specifically about exploration aspect - this is how it ended.
@@gidi3250 this comment is definition of "argue for the sake of arguing" yep, every game has "these" walls i'm talking about walls withing the map, like terrain that makes you do awkward walkaround
The temptations to spend money are present and is difficult to deal with if you dont have self control and if you actually enjoy the game. Its either months of grind or a single top up to get the characters you want/need. Basically a massive trap. Still, the game itself is enjoyable. And its free! Exploration is quite rewarding and the actual combat is fun. It honestly depends on your own expectations of the game, and whether you can deal with the RNG hell that awaits you or not.
I agree with the gatcha problem, but I have played genshin for over 6 months now and haven’t spent a dime. I really think that if you have a good grip on the mechanics of fighting, you don’t need more then you are given, and leveling characters will get you wishes to get more characters without spending money
@@LoveKrystal471 That age of consent is mostly for California, as I've heard many times of how multiple states have a different age threshold, but that's just gonna earn us some headaches
@@Charle4217 Most states are 18. There are nuances of course, like Kansas having the age of consent be 17, but only if the older person is under 24 or 25 I think. Above that, it's still 18.
Mihoyo is _very_ good at making games, and not slowing down anytime soon. They did close their global server for _Gun GirlZ_ , but _Honkai Impact 3rd_ , _Genshin_ , and _Tears of Themis_ seem to be going well. There's also the upcoming _Honkai: Star Rail_ . And they keep changing things up, so no two games are the same, yet they also test systems they then apply to new games in their old ones. And yes, you _can_ play these games completely for free if you have the self-control. Or no spending money. That's because you can earn the currency needed for the gacha while playing the game, then wait for a banner to rerun when you have enough to guarantee you'll get who you want. If you're patient enough. I'm not, but I chose that. Interesting thing is that _HI3_ gives you trial versions of story-relevant characters to play as in the story mode. It's only in endgame content like Abyss and Memorial Arena where you'll feel the sting of not having the most powerful characters and their Best-In-Slot gear. And their open world section gives you an entirely different slate of characters, and different gameplay mechanics to go with them. Plus the story and characters are very well-written, but you must be prepared to face severe depression playing it, because the characters go through Hell. Contrast with _Genshin_ , where all content is accessible, and you can complete everything with any party of characters, but having certain ones _will_ make things significantly easier on you. You _could_ play with the starter and free characters, or you could pull for the most OP characters in the game and then use them to melt all opposition (which some say turns out to be boring). Either way, the exploration remains just as fun, and the story and characters are again well-written. Unfortunatately unlike _HI3_ there's no way to replay quests or cutscenes. Fortunately you can find VODs on YT or Twitch showing these things. You don't have to actually play the game to see what it's like, unless you actually _want_ to. And by the way, currently only 3 of the 8 planned regions are available. Mihoyo has a plan for the next 12 or so years based on when they're going to release each new region and the content that comes with them. Like new characters and new enemies. But I find both games a lot of fun, or I wouldn't actually play them. The fact I haven't dropped them says a lot, seeing as I dropped the likes of _Revelations_ , _Scarlet Blade_ , and _PSO2_ over the feeling I was grinding for little or no progress. Plus the localization on _Revelations_ was incomplete, weird, and just plain bad. Too bad, since I liked the classes, swimming and flying.
While Max0r only chooses to play as women, part of Genshin's exploding popularity is great amount of male characters to simp for (I totally did not sell my soul to Kaeya, thank gods he's free). Like, there's a high chance the first thing you encounter in this fandom is Zhongli thirst. The part with the boys in the coal mines is double funny when you play the game and realize these 3 are some of the most broken characters, with Bennett and Xingqiu appearing in like 90% of team combinations while still being 4★s. Also self-control part is true. While I do not spend money, I do spend any Primogem the game gives.
Its pity one of your reason not to play the game is because its from china even tho the company (mihoyo) is so tired of chinas bullshit that shackles them to be more creative and want to leave the country and actually build a new base outside china like on Canada and Singapore... And when it comes to spyware i dont know any issues about that in the game and i play since day 1 and the only security issue that the people want to fix back then is the 2 factor authenticator that already implemented long time ago and and this maxor video is already old now that this topic is miniscule now compare before and of course maxor exaggerate everything on his video so thats that.
Genshin is a game that makes me bitter explicitly _because_ I enjoy the gameplay, but a significant portion of gameplay elements (like characters, weapons, and the ability to keep doing stuff in the game) that I want is locked behind extreme RNG or time-gates, which i actively hate dealing with. It's the sort of game where if it just released as a full priced AAA game, and let you unlock stuff through general gameplay like quests and exploration (and, you know, was _finished_ ), I'd probably buy it at full price, which i do not do for many games
For the 3 characters that Maxor called "very bad" I'm preety sure he was joking as 2 of them are probably the best and most used characters in the whole game. He's just memeing.
They're the most used characters because they're free and are given to you just by doing the quests. Saying amber is one of the best in the game is like actually believing that wii sports is the most sold game ever.
@@AceLeader101 Did you even watch the video? The 3 characters that were called "bad" were Bennet, Xingqiu and Razor. Now I won't say much about Razor but Xingqiu and Bennet literally are irreplaceable for what they do even by 5*. I don't know where you got Amber from. She's not great and decent at high constellations but she was never part of this conversation. Also I've never heard anyone call wii sports the most sold game ever. It's the 4th most sold so kind of a wierd thing to bring up.
@@nabi7701Naw don't try that, you got it wrong dude. He literally complains right after that it's because they were guys, anyone with half a brain could tell what he was talking about. However he *did* say that amber was very bad later on, which is where I got lost on your comment. Trying to convince people who haven't played the game that he's exaggerating but also saying nothing more then "the 3 characters he said were bad" is fucking stupid, how are they supposed to know who you were talking about especially when you got it wrong anyway?
As someone who has played a lot of Breath of the Wild, I'll say that Genshin Impact is much more than just "Anime Breath of the Wild". It's clearly inspired by BOTW, but it has so much more to it in terms of gameplay, story, exploration, music, etc. that it fully stands on its own as a great game. Don't let a saying like that make you think that it's just a BOTW copycat, because it's not.
You need self control when playing this game because of all the new characters but atleast they let you try each new character that comes on the event banner so you see if their own worth getting
The thoughts Nate had on the Chinese government after they finished watching the video are my exact thoughts on the matter. In fact, when it comes to any country that has fallen under a dictatorship, i blame their shitty tyrannical government, not the people. I really hope for a day when enough people from such countries work up the courage to pull a french revolution on their shitty dictators.
You can actually play it without paying. I pay on my main account (but not much I've only spent like 50 in the span of 7 months), but I don't pay on my second account and I have a decent amount of good characters there. It just takes a lot longer than those who pay but you can still be just as good as others.
Skip to 4:35 to skip the intro. Also the joke flew high above your heads that the average Genshin fan doesn't know that the age of consent is 18; Some characters here are not of that age.
I’m one of the few lucky enough to have almost all the characters I want without having spent… more than $200. I’m sorry, but Ganyu and Hu Tao were worth it.
11:52 Close, but not quite right. You got the general gist of it, but you’re thinking of the Tiananmen Square protests and massacre. You confused at least the name with the Rape of Nanking/Nanjing Massacre, which was actually the Imperial Japanese Army’s doing.
My first roll after coming back to Genshin was the loli puppet, that cat ear girl and the rock throwing chick with the anti-projectile barrier 2 5 stars and a 4 star not a bad roll
I enjoy the game and haven't spent anything on it since launch, but I can DEFINITELY see why people wouldn't have a single reason to want to play it The main story is good, but the side stories are usually boring af The combat is good, except the recent 6-7 months of new enemies have gotten stale The resin grind was alright at first but got incredibly boring 3 - 4k resin in The sound tracks and world design is fucking top tier, debatably my favorite out of all the fantasy styled games I've played The wish system isn't something I can hate anymore as I've said fuck it and moved on to playing the game as it casually goes ^ To add I also had ZZEERROO cases of winning a 50/50 on any banners from launch to 2.1 Overall I can say I've enjoyed my time with the game, but again, don't expect 3/4 people to even consider trying it
The genshin fanbase gets really triggered when you compare the game to botw, even if it is absolutely still true to this day. (I enjoy both, but yes guys it's true) The big difference is that it's constantly updating, constantly getting new characters and events that give it new life where as breath of the wild is kinda stuck where it's at. I wouldn't go into the game with the idea of "why would I play this game when Ican just play botw" cause that's like saying why would I play a modern fighting game when I could just play streets of rage. There's so much more to find and do in this game while being really f2p.
"If you can play BotW, I don't really see the point" I'll at least say that Genshin's story is 100x better than BotW, IMO, so that's at least one reason. Also, Elden Ring isn't accessible to everyone, nor are their combat systems comparable.
People gets hook by the character hype but in reality you can finish any event with the free characters. You don't even need 5 start Artifact set or weapon.
Mihoyo AKA Hoyoverse DOESN'T INSTALL CHINESE SPYWARE INTO THE GAME.......there were such confusions when the game came out, but soon patched (just like Denuvo in western games)....and guess what now Hoyoverse shifted their office from China...............I don't know who recommended you this video but really guys it's not a video after watching which people will be exited to play the game.......IT'S A MEME VIDEO AND IT'S 90% CONTENT IS WRONG without context.
i played Genshin Impact is kinda lame, when its about finding or cooking food to heal, because most of it is just to revive your characters. And i didn't payed anything.
China have alot of talented game dev but sadly due to the government the game country never make any half decent or high budget game until recently with Genshin, Black Myth Wukong and another game i do not remember but seem very FF and DMC like after Honkai and Genshin the country does start to make more 3d game though sadly most are still pretty bad beside Punishing Gray Raven
Its unfortunate they both seemed to turn off the moment they heard china. I mean man, I dont like the ccp either, but at this point china is so present in everything it hardly matters where you go or what you do. Game is fun
Its not anime BotW. It looks very similar and there are similarities in exploring. Climbing, swiming and gliding (which literally ALL open world games will have from now on so if thats a disqualifier, youre shit out of luck) The core mechanics in Genshin is almost the exact opposite of BotW. Not one character, blocking and smacking but a team, dodging, tag teaming, switching and combining their elements to create combinations. And even if it was literally the same, you think the story is? If just cuz it looks similar "you might as well just play BotW" then youd have even less reason to play Tears of the Kingdom. Cuz there is even less of a difference between TotH and BotW than there is between BotW and Genshin... But I imagine youd play it for the story, would you not? You think the creators of Genshin wouldbt be sued into fakking oblivion by Nintendo if the games were _that_ much alike? Nintendo sued a youtuber doing a reaction video cuz the guy in the video he reacted to was *whisteling(!?)* the theme of Secret of Mana. You really think theyd let someone copy/paste their game and make BILLIONS of dollars a year from it? What idiot would even believe someone saying its just a BotW clone? It makes absolutely 0 sense if you spend a single second to actuslmy think about it. Its literally just butthurt BotW fanbois being upset a similar game getting attention, this happens with every game ever. If all the reasons, "people said this" is *_the_* dumbest and laziest. You dont have to like it, you dont have to play it, you do you... But Jesus Christ, thats a stupid reason.
Honestly, botw and Genshin are two different games. Genshin did obviously borrowed a lot of concepts and functionality from botw but it has its own takes on just about everything else: stories, characters, the environments (some areas look the same), combat, Gacha (you can completely clear the game without spending), etc. It's one those of those games you play for the exploration aspect, basically, it's a casual game. Botw is better overall, of course.
love the game..hate the RNG which is...part of the game... so i take a vacuum like 6 months ago and decided to have fun with elden ring since release day
Yooo! Nick has played Warframe! That’s awesome to hear because I play Warframe A LOT. Fucking hell, I’m Mastery Rank 27. That’s high by the way. “We All Lift Together” is SUCH an amazing song. And fucked up.
