Having talented multi instrumentalists who can switch on stage with ease is not so uncommon in groups today but 40 years ago? It was mind blowing. I still carry that emotional charge whenever I listen to this magical music so emblematic of my youth. Long live the Giant!

Tightest band I ever saw. This stuff is wtf more rhythmically complex than anything anyone else was doing.

The most remarkable band of the 70s. Hard to say, if this was rock-music. I think, it was far beyond any cathegories of music at that time. I still enjoy listening to what they did.

Derek said they wanted to be seen as a rock band, not as ProgRock.
@sepp2gl
@sepp2gl 4 года назад
@@andreasoberndorfer5476 Maybe that's what they wanted, but it is not, what they actually did. The complexity of their music was completely beyond pur rock-music. They were almost perfect in this kind of music, but when finally trying to get more commercially succesful at the end of 70s, it wasn't their kind of music. They were far too excellent to be humble. For me the end of GG marked the end of prog-rock in general. I took me quite some time to re-open for bands like IQ lateron. BTW: I am German, but let's continue in english language.

GG was always on my list of top prog bands, but did not think that 40 years later I would be listening to them twice as much as Genesis or Yes in past year or so. Good bootleg, wished they had found a way to be both musically successful and earn in their youth! That must hurt, but the music does endure, and past us too

The intro is a re-arrangement of a theme from the song Giant (first album). It then goes into a variation of the Cog in Cogs riff before the full band enters.

Remember everybody listen to Yes,Genesis and all the big prog bands in the 70's,at the time GG was obviously not for the masses .Now many people my age tell me they listen to GG and hardly ever to the huge prog bands who got rich.Such a shame GG still doesn't get paid now we have the www.If they are still around they should tour and finally get paid for their incredible accomplishments
