I have a 2006 ,, bought new . Hand done all my own service work . Just changed all fluids . It has 35,600 miles . Just recently had to replace front tire . Gets 100 miles to the gallon .
I have a 2012 Buddy 50 that I bought new. I ride it alot in the summer and fall. (Michigan) I replaced the battery with a Lithium Ion battery. That and the spark plugs are the only thing I've had to do. I use premium gas, Royal purple oil, & once in awhile, put a capful of Seafoam cleaner in the tank. I absolutely love it.
Awesome job Andrew! The Buddy scooters look like a great value for money! Might have to add one next to my new Vespa for my wife to enjoy....many thanks!
@@janesta786 honestly great, hasn’t been bad on upkeep although I do have a small shed to protect from rain and snow so would recommend a cover if that option isn’t available
@@janesta786 2 can ride, and it even has foot rest built in for the second person, I’ve personally never done it but others in my town have, just double check your model before buying to be sure
Genuine Scooter manufactures their own Brand 2 cycle synthetic oil .. THATS THE ONLY OIL I USE I installed a prima windshield ..gained 5mph top end then I installed a "Soooterworks" NON catalytic exhaust..keeps engine running cooler.. less restriction gives me 5 mph faster on the top end... Sounds cool also... Between the windshield and the aftermarket exhaust I gained 10 mph top end! ( No rejet carb ) BTW all speedometers on all scooters read 5 miles an hour faster than you're actually traveling
? I live in Iowa (just got my Buddy ❤ it so much) Do I store it in the house during the winter months? And do I start it in the winter 1 time a month and let it run for a bit?
Congratulations! You can store it inside if you want. Don’t start it inside though if you can help it. Try to find a decent day to get outside and run it for like 15-20 minutes or go on a short ride if it’s not horrifically wintery out.
As a dealer,do you have a Canadian contact? Well done video as well. I need one of those…yamaha quit exporting the zuma50 to Canada, not much choice now . The 2 stroke is old school,I like that. Thanks
Hey there thanks for watching! Don’t know who imports the PGO scooters in Canada. Here in the US a Genuine Scooters in Chicago. Maybe you can buy one over here and then ride it across the border and have a great story to tell when you get home.
Nice video! I live in SC and just starting my research. I don't anticipate driving everyday. Should I find something with fuel injection vs a carburetor?
Sorry! Thought I wrote back to this. If you’re not going to ride for a week or more at a time, fuel injection is your best bet. Good luck on the search!
Technically you’re over the GWVR limit but even I am at 250. If I remember correctly it’s best if the rider isn’t over 220. That said, I don’t think the bike is going to spontaneously burst into flames but try not to give the bike full throttle on hills because it’s already giving a lot of effort to carry riders like us. Congrats on slimming down! Let the bike be your motivation on days when you’re not motivated? Thanks for watching and enjoy that scoot.
That would be a bit tough to fit in with the time it takes to do a video/customers waiting on their bike. You may find something like that o the channel called Mitch's Scooter Stuff, or Vespa Motorsport's channel. Thanks for watching!
My 2019 buddy 50 it started jerking is I take off and it's gotten worse as you riding down the road and started making a whining noise and it's making a flopping noise I don't know if it's got a built in it for the shaft drive can someone please give me some feedback on this
It can be done but you’d want to check the oil levels more often because the extra weight will take a toll on the scooter by adding more heat while riding.
Do air horns fit this scooter? Just ordered a Buddy 50 from Vespa Motorsport and it has yet to arrive from the warehouse. I see an aftermarket one on your website but unsure if it will fit the Buddy or if the 50 will even generate enough power to run it.
Find the closet one, and then see if they know of a good shipper who can bring it out to you. Expect to pay $500-1000 extra for that though. Transport is not cheap.
Install a scooter works non-catalytic converter exhaust system on your buddy 50...$130 .. you will increase your top end speed by 5 mph I also purchased a primo windscreen windshield and gained another 5 mph.. my buddy50 now does 40 to 43..(GPS measured.. all scooter speedometers read 5 mph faster than they actually going) .. I can do 45 on a slight downgrade in 50 to 55 down a steep hill another great thing about the scooter works non-catalytic converter it allows your engine to run much cooler which is better for the longevity of the engine
@@VespaPortland Sorry that I'm late with my "Thank you". I LOVE my "Buddy". Question - I've a scratch on the plastic fairing - would I be able to use a compound and buff it out, as I do on my truck?
the scooter I got has a plug in charger.. what is it for?? also.. if not ran for awhile.. can I put carb cleaner in ot or does it have to go to the shop?
Three wheel scooters? We have the Piaggio MP3 500. It has 3 wheels but does not hold itself up like a Spyder or Ryker. It acts like a 2 wheeler vehicle when riding.
After the initial break-in you can have the scooter derestricted. Derestriction removes a ring in the transmission. That ring basically keeps the drive belt from reaching the outer edges of the variatior sheaves. Those outer edges are where the belt needs to get to reach those higher speeds. Think of a 10 speed bicycle and how you need to get to the outermost edges of the largest gears to attain the highest possible speeds. Hope that helps!
If you're the manager/owner of this dealership, how did you get it started? I love scooters, I buy and sell them, ride them, and I want to start my own dealership one day in NY. Any tips or advice? Thank you.
Got tired of my lousy corporate job, got an SBA loan and purchased an existing dealership. The former owners were ready to retire. Finding that kind of timing may be tough. Could also reach out to the manufacturers you’d like to represent directly.
@@VespaPortland Good for you man, best of luck and thanks for the advice! I just bought a RH50 sport and its been awesome so far. 2 stroke all the way, especially for small displacement engines.
@@VespaPortland Depends upon the type of halogen light bulb, there are LED H4, H7, H1 etec. available for cars could be installed on scooters if is of the same type.
It depends on your state’s local laws. In Oregon and Washington you need only a drivers license. In California you need a full motorcycle endorsement. In Nevada I think you can just ride it with nothing. Check your states local moped laws.
