@@josephlindor3708 I did... Greek War of Independence: Haiti was the first government of an independent state that recognised the Greek revolution against the Ottoman Empire. President Jean-Pierre Boyer, following a Greek request for assistance, addressed a letter on 15 January 1822. In the letter sent to Greek expatriates living in France, Adamantios Korais, Christodoulos Klonaris, Christodoulos Klonaris, Konstantinos Polychroniades and A. Bogorides, who had assembled themselves into a Committee which was seeking international support for the ongoing Greek revolution, expressed his support for the Greek Revolution and compared the struggle underfoot across the Atlantic to the struggle for independence in his own land. He apologized for being unable to support the Revolution in Greece financially, though he hoped he might be able to in the future. But he articulated his moral and political support for the revolution, notably by filling his letter with references to classical Greek history, demonstrating a detailed knowledge of this history and powerfully evoking the contemporary revolutionaries as the rightful heirs of their ancestors.

@@Medjic you gave some good information here my brother, but Haiti wasn't able to helped Greece financially, but the Haitian president Jean Pierre Boyer did sent Greece a lot of commodities like coffee, cocoa, and other commodities so Greece can sell and finance they war of independence against the ottoman empire

Dominican here! I've been to Haiti and I absolutely loved it. Media is being so unfair with Haiti. In my country, you can perceive a lot of bad propaganda about the country, such as: they have no trees, they are the poorest and chaotic people on Earth and so on. I was sick of hearing all that stuff that our Dominican media tells us, so I decided to go to Haiti and I'm very proud to say that I loved the country, the people, the language, the culture... Everything. We are so alike and different at the same time that it is amazing to think that in just one island, you can appreciate such a variety of culture. Greetings to my fellow Haitians, from Dominican Republic. Love for you and your undoubtedly amazing country!

Ulises Jorge Bidó I agree... despite the things that has happened on both sides may have, Somehow the media fails to bring out the positivity in the culture, the people, the food, beaches or anything else that makes us special .... It's why when people from other countries bring up Haiti or the whole island itself... the first thing that come out people's mouths are the failures of the country and or unfortunate events.

Of course he did. Boyer marched with tens of thousands of troops less than two decades after Dessalines massacred thousands of Dominicans in Santiago and Moca after he was defeated by the French governor Ferrand, who was holding the city of Santo Domingo. Haitians made second class citizens out of Dominicans and worse during the 22 year occupation.

When I was in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, I was able to communicate directly with the Creole-speaking locals (I speak French passably, so I was happy that I made myself understood). As an American, I was warmly received everywhere I went in that country. The omnipresent poverty was appalling, but the people's pride in their country's historical uniqueness was clear, as well (I remember a small group of children who approached me one morning, and sang their national anthem in French just for me). Unfortunately, Haiti has been poorly served both by its politicians, and by the "international community."

You can't be black and not love what Haiti as a nation stands for. Haiti and Ethiopia are just two nations to be proud of 🇭🇹🇪🇹 EDIT: Lol, at those not getting the point of this comment. Ethiopia is the only African country to successfully resist colonialism. Haiti had a revolution after the French revolution and became the first black republic. We should be proud of these countries because of how they represent black resistance to opression and dominance. Nothing to deal with their economies (which btw, Ethiopia has been in consitent growth) that's a more complex topic; its about what they represent

Unfortunately I've never been to Haiti... Yet... and it's our Brother/Neighbor... and I keep hearing and reading all this negative stuff on media... and I'm sick and tired of it. Sucks that ppl don't know how to express they're feelings without pointing fingers. I can assure you that you have ppl praying for the innocent and hard working Hatians and we will all laugh, dance and enjoy while cheering. I've only had the chance to interact with only but a few Hatians. But when I was a kid I remember seeing these group of ppl walking on my street and I followed them to their location. My cousins and I saw like about 30 of them Kids and mixed of all kinds.. and I remember 1 man offering me Some cornstarch that they had cooked.. and I eat it :) loved it. Just know you have ppl praying for you Haiti.. there are still lots of Dominicans that care about u. Stay strong and avoid the negative!!!!! 🇩🇴❤🇭🇹✊💪💪

@jose iv rueda - I'm Haitian and also Pinay (Bisaya fr. Dipolog gyud) and know both countries pretty well! I actually think it's worse in Haiti because it's so small. If we get something like Ondoy or Pinatubo eruption, the rest of the country can help with recovery. In Haiti, there is no recovery! Only setbacks. 😥

Thanks for the great info! Like you said, so many misconceptions about Haiti. I haven't been to Haiti yet, but I'm from Montreal and have many friends who say Haiti is there favorite vacation destination. I know Saut d'Eau, Labadee and Jacqmel (for surfers) are often mentioned.

Hey Barby, as a dominican I thank you for not getting in much details about the relationship with us. Quite a controversy.
@majeafong4768
@majeafong4768 7 лет назад
Because it's a controversy doesn't mean we should ignore the reality of it. In my opinion I think it should be brought to life. And no offense because I have nothing against Dominicans, but as a whole people should address how oppressed Haitians have been by Dominicans until this day. It needs to be brought to light, regardless of your pride for your country.
@VolcyThoughts
@VolcyThoughts 7 лет назад
In America, Dominicans and Haitians have no issue. Idk what's the problem down in the homeland. I do find it weird that y'all don't identity with your African roots more tho
@joeymedina5659
@joeymedina5659 7 лет назад
SirVolcy in Dominican alot people who live in the moutians and farmland are ignorant and racist they don't expect that they have African roots,I'm Dominican and my mom is white domincian and her grandfather is black,and my mom accepts her African background from her Grandfather
@VolcyThoughts
@VolcyThoughts 7 лет назад
Nico _ yeah but the country is like 80% mullato meaning y'all have at least a third to about half African ancestry and that seems to go ignored. I've even met some who were hostile to the proposition that they have black in them.
@VolcyThoughts
@VolcyThoughts 7 лет назад
Ulises Jorge Bidó watch a documentary by Dr. Henry Louis Gates called Black in Latin America. He gets the perspective from Dominican historians and sociologists who explain that many Dominicans shun their African ancestry but praise their European.
