Mr. Benson knows everybody who is anybody in the business. Blues guys, Jazz guys, Rock Guys. Only his sound could come from Pittsburgh. When I drive into town through the Ft. Pitt tunnel and come out the other side, the city smacks you in the face...and at 52 years old I still say "Wow! This is George Benson's house!"
My wedding 💍 theme SONG..@ the mission SAN JUAN BAPTISTA MISSION...near Monterey.. what a Day and what a song... IF only LIFE COULD STAND STILL FOR A SPLIT... SECOND..thank human talent sound and photography
The thing that I love about George is that...it is all about controlling emotion....I guess almost like Freddie King on downers, but in control. Although, Freddie King was in complete control, but George Benson to me anyway captures Freddie King in a sentimental way.
My husband was a jazz guitar teacher & professional on the road w/some big jazz groups. He went home to be w/ the LORD on Christmas Eve. I listen to Benson playing Breezin & I think of my husband as he sounded Sooo much like him. I get tears every time.😢😢😢😢😢
If he sounded like George he sure put in the time it takes to be great. I hate to hear that he's gone but to live is Christ and to die is gain. R.G. Lee was once told by someone that they were sorry to hear that he had lost his wife and he said "I've not lost her. I know exactly where she's at." I hope this comforts you.
Sounded just like Benson....played guitar when learning at 6yrs old. Was busy at our Baptist church till covid. Thank you so much for your reply. God Bless
Very cool, yes, but I don't think George would be very happy at quite a few people on this page calling this instrumental piece a 'song'. No singing to be heard. Here is a link for a George Benson song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RpEfAV1T5b0.html
When I was young, I read a local critic in Pittsburgh blast Benson for taking up singing when (in the critic's view), Benson was a great guitarist but not a singer. Of course, Benson has a GREAT voice, terrific singer. It was one of my first lessons that critics can be complete idiots.
@@tomsanders9491 I don’t doubt you saw George Benson at Ravinia, (whatever that is) but I’m not wrong, this clip is from “The Old Grey Whistle Test” which is a British TV programme with no audience, not a live concert.
@@alanhowell3646 Ravinia is a concert venue in Highland Park, Illinois. Your previous comment sounded as if you disputed the concert. I don't doubt that this clip is memorex. Most artists rely on tape
My mum and step dad used to go his concerts back in the early to mid 80’s.......they would come back buzzin. Many, many hours in the car with George as the soundtrack. Absolute bliss.
Just saw Mr. Benson at the Rolls Royce dealership in Scottsdale , Arizona. He was there to test drive a RR and was so friendly and upbeat. I’ve been a fan of his music for many years and it was great to see him out and about.
My sister got married in 1982. I hosted the bridesmaids breakfast. My background music was The George Benson' Collection- a double album of greatest hits.
Wow. Nothing but the best. What a classic performance. I remember when this first came out; in fact a brother of mine put together me an awesome cassette tape and “ Breezing “ was one of the songs on it. I’ve been listening to George Benson’s music every since. And must, I’ve never seen a bass player play while at the same time playing a tamarin with his foot. What great rhythm and timing he must have.
He is so excellent to watch and listen to, especially when he's playing jazz guitar live. I am so grateful for these videos we can watch whenever we want! I always loved George Benson and remember hearing Breezin' on the radio when I was a little girl.... He is so ultra talented.
The master! This reminds me of driving down Gulf Boulevard on St.Pete Beach BLASTING this tune with the top down (the CAR top, not mine lol!)..great times, great music, GREAT memories.
I saw him in concert in Seattle with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra & his band. It was amazing sound there & still to this day the best concert I've ever attended! George was spectacular!
One of the greatest Jazz Guitarist of all time. His voice is brilliant too. Brings back my childhood memories. Thank you to my Uncle's for introducing me to Jazz back then.🙏
Back in the day when there were only cassettes and no CD's I wore out this album cassette at my job. I worked 7 floors underground at a major bank packing up cancelled checks for return to their original banks. I had a huge area to work in and was all by my self packing and sealing those checks into boxes. I had a playlist for the night: George Benson, Billy Joel, and the Beach Boys (I'm from SoCal). I handled $6 million of negotiable bank drafts a night at the age of 19.
George and his band here are so smooth and effortless, and this such a sweet tune, that it's easy to miss just what a fierce groove they're in. Smokin--
I saw George live at Stonybrook College. Singing, dancing, moving and groovin and of course, playing this here guitar. What a great artist and showman. Handsome and charming to boot.
I’ve been jamming to Mr Benson for years!!! He’s absolutely amazing! All his music makes me think I live on a island with no bills and pure happy living
LOVE this GEM!!! For some reason it reminds me of the time when I 1st heard it was driving in my convertible (1977) through Times Square at midnight and does every single time!
Perfect example of honouring the recorded tempo when playing live. You can tell how happy with the groove he is as soon as the song starts. He makes eye contact with the fellas as if to say “yeaaaahhhhhh...”
Bonjour tout le monde ... Je vis au Brésil où nous avons des musiciens et des chansons incroyables comme Bossa Nova. J'ai toujours aimé G. Benson. Des câlins à tous.
Talking about this song yesterday , remember it being played on radio 1 and advertising the album ! I was hooked on George and bought Nature boy album . Super guitarist with a great voice !
