Intellectual, philosopher, social-critic, forward-thinker, visionary (mind you, these are all terms I have seen/read people describe him as on various clips of him). I doubt he'd appreciate any of these brands we ascribe him to. He probably would feel them to be too narrow, too limiting.... He kinda defies defintion.... He's .. beyond that.
I'm sure he'd have had some very interesting thoughts on today's political and PC situation. The right and left would have likely shared equal portions of just deserts.
@@peacock1426 If you're daydreaming (or should I say day-scheming) about future dreams to be realized, it's very productive. I think his point was that kids shouldn't be over-saturated with info, they need time to be kids and use their own imaginations.
@@Mandrake591 I understand his point but at the end of the day it does them no real good unless you want them to grow up to be an artist, then sure yes. Daydreaming is like playing video games. It's just entertainment. Planning your future in your imagination on the other hand is completely a different thing.
Also if I could have my childhood back, I'd spent all it's time reading books, then my chances of becoming someone matters in the future as an adult would have been tremendously increased. - A miserable adult who wasted his childhood by being a fking child!!! Lol
Just one more reason why I love Carlin. I feel like we share the same values bc my wife and I don't let our kids watch movies in the car. Look out the window and people watch. It's important
Every morning I look up to the sky. Usually dark so I see stars. Every day I look up to the sky for airplanes, clouds or weather. Everyday. I pause and reflect. Everyday.
Man, he would have so much material from the woke liberals. It would have to be a marathon comedy show. Do a couple hours, take a nap and come out with all new stuff for another couple of hours.
@@mikeroberts8609 Thinking it would be entirely one-sided when it comes to extremists may be the biggest disservice you could do to the man's legacy. He was no partisan when it came to calling out bullshit.
3:13 Jesus, I wasn't expecting to hear something so beautiful that rings more true today than it does back then and even relates to grown ups like me. Nicely put.
I wouldn't argue it relates to adults as well. Never forget one of George's other bits, "The longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, *something is FUCKED up*. Something is *WRONG* here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption..." Among many other similar and loveable bits he did, the world is to fucked up not to acknowledge it these days and it either messes with you or you get over it and stop giving a shit (in which case you don't need to daydream anymore, the world is your oyster, and all the entertainment you need). The only other way to live in this world without it either changing you or breaking you is to become blissfully ignorant and unaware of the reality of things and how it only gets worse with time.
Hate to break it to you, but it's always been fucked up, and you're just noticing it now because now the parts of it that you've considered your world are being targeted.
@@hankthetank8039 couldn't have said this better myself. When you were alive as a kid you saw the world through those rose colored lenses that hid the truth directly underneath your nose, the adults of the past may have said that the world is a messed up place, but the fact remained that that was not the world that you in particular were living in. Not yet at least. You had to experience the injustices first hand to be truly sure. between the false promises and the plastic politicians. The war crimes and the conspiring military cover ups. The world has been fucked up for as long as this earth can remember, and everyone is realizing that at many different stages of their life, and by the the time you speak up that something isn't right, they'll have already written you off as naive for your misknowledge. If by some miracle the reciever of your revelation hears you and decided to help to make that change, only then will you have found the chance to begin making things right. Everything this world is built upon is run by ordinary people, working ordinary jobs, if these ordinary people who work together are able to create towering buildings and marvels of machinery that shun mother nature. Then just imagine what those same ordinary people could do when they decide to no longer work a job created out of necessity and instead decide to devote their efforts to toppling those tyranical tool bags who seem to hold all of the money and all of the power. How's that for an idea?
And you just sit back, hold your toy and comment about the world f'ed up, and wait for the savior. I believe you and knuckleheads like you are one of the reasons
She can't help that she knows she does it but finds it difficult to control. She does try tho she said in a interview she called it her terretts thing or something like that. I like fucked up people who admit it and try and do something about it even if they fail it shows strength of character.
@@iamthatiam44444 She reminds me of myself. I'm autistic and I do the same thing. I try not too but I do. It's not even trying to be disrespectful, it's just how your brain works.
The biggest problem with families anymore is the parents want to live their life through their kids whatever the parents didn’t accomplish they want their kids to accomplish instead of letting their kids dream wonder and think about what they want to do when they grow up
Yup. My father wanted me to be what he wished *he* was. Instead, I accomplished things far, far beyond his banal, terrestrial desires. However, he disconnected from all of it once he realized that in less than a quarter of HIS lifetime, I'd affected more lives and made impacts upon the world that he didn't like, believe in, or care about. All because they weren't about baseball, stocks, & golf. LOL Yes, my father was THAT 'imprisoned by media/man'. lol Extremely sad, but... none of my concern.
I will say that most people become famous in their late teens or early 20s and one or both of their parents gave them a early start like 5 years old. Tiger Woods, the William sisters, Michael Jackson, Shirley Temple, another interesting fact is most professional singers got their start by singing in a church. Without parent's involvement, most people would start to late, 18 and your just starting to learn your craft and the odds are against you. I can bet you that in the past before the internet that over 90% of any professional guitar player one or both of their parents is a musician. I like to tell you how many times I heard a guitar player say I didn't start playing guitar until I was 15 and years later they add that they started playing piano at 5. There is a very young girl on YT, her channel is Ellenplaysbass and her father is right there helping her. You can tell she loves what she is doing and I agree it should be up to her. If I had a child whatever they wanted to do I would help them. I would never force them.
George was an unusual individual with an amazing way of communication and humour that could melt away whatever was troubling you and just make you laugh❗️ Genius level comedian who is missed ✌️ R. I. P . MR CARLIN
If a human is truly intelligent, their PoV always DOES swing deeper into both the Light and the Dark. The tagline of my book reads: "Time is the only resource for which no creature may bargain..." Once you realize just how limited your Time truly is... other things occur to you. It's easy for those epiphanies to cause one to lose nearly all hope, too. Unfortunately.
A year ago I didn't know the name George Carlin.. But I now know he was one of the funniest people I have ever had the pleasure to watch... I have laughed so much I genuinely thought I was going to have a second heart attack... I had to pause the video for 20 minutes until the ol ticker calmed down LOL :-D
@@joeydoherty368 I can't guess cause other highly intelligent people have taken the jabs which they now regret. Robert Malone and Jordan Petersen come to mind.
Totally fucked it up. When you're born in this world you're given a ticket to the freakshow, and when you're born in America, you're given a front row seat.
I think he aimed for 94 out of optimism and in gest but at the same time he mentions his ambition is to keep doing what he does until it becomes impossible. I feel was definitely smart enough to understand his odds weren't great health wise but he simply refused to lose precious time thinking about it.
Always loved George and miss his brilliant mind. That said,...dang, if I don't say so myself, Rosanne actually looks quite pretty here. Can't say I've ever thought about her that way but she looks great in this video.
George sure gave you alot to think about. Can't say I agreed with everything he said. He could be hard to listen to at times. He covered so many topics. He wasn't holding anything back and spoke his mind. His opinions on things like religion he may have gotten his answers upon his death. I thought he was intelligent, entertaining, thought provoking for sure, funny, and certainly trying to make the world a better place in his own way. I enjoyed listening to him more than not. Rest in peace.
Wow, I’ve never seen this! Roseanne and George talking is something I didn’t think I’d see. George normally being so sharp and critical, it’s always great seeing him have respect and admiration for a person. You can see it in this interview. Ahh if only he reached his goal of 94…
Living that long is not so great...My 96yo mother now is very hard of hearing, depressed most of the time, and knows she is close to death...not a happy time for her at all...If i make it to my 80s, that will be a good time to die...I will be looking into the "Right to Die" situation at that point.
I had a pain in my chest that felt like someone stabbed me with a 9" knife and every time I tried to breathe it felt like they were twisting it. I went to see a doctor and she said, oh, I think your fine I am going to say you just had some gas. I said you did not hear what I just said, that was no gas. She said if you don't believe me then you need to go to the emergency room where they have more tests than we do. I now believe what I had was a chest cramp. That was scary enough to get me to change what I eat.
@@sacredgroovetube couldn't hurt, improving your diet, but people that live healthy lives die young, same as those with unhealthy lifestyles do not. i'm gonna say that genetics/luck of the draw play a huge role.
GC was one of the best citizens to grace the USA culture because he was not only extremely smart and funny, but also very courageous and told the truth about Americans, whether they liked it or not. RIP George.
Actually seeing these two speaking face to face is surreal for me. Like finally seeing two of my biggest heroes come together. I wish George was still here today. I missed my chance to meet him and most of my other idols in life because they've already passed on, but I still have some chance of meeting Roseanne someday. Keep kicking strong for me and all your fans, Roseanne! ❤
George carlin was one of a kind he was straight out about the truth.. "" say it like it is "" sadly he passed away at the age of 71 10 years later of this taping...
I have to guess, that it was the heavy drinking and drugging, that shortened his life. He seemed so slender, even in good shape--not the typical overweight American that gets heart problems...I think without his substance abuse, he might have well lived another 20 years!
When we were kids my dad would only let us play his records on very low volume, he didn't want our mom to hear it, lol, the seven words you can't say on tv and all the other funny stuff, he did the hippy dippy weather forecast on the Flip Wilson show, scattered darkness thru out the night and scattered lightness in the morning, very funny man, miss him. RIP George.
'I love my unstructured time..' cool.. He described exactly what I achieved.. Freedom and self reflection.. And a unplanned 1 month roadtrip to enjoy life.. I feel him
Hate to tell you this, buddy, but Carlin and Roseanne were cut from the same cloth and have a deep mutual EVIDENT respect for each other. Here are two people you can trust to say what's really on their mind, and that is a beautiful thing. The love in this clip feels good to me.
I always liked Rosanne's witty personality, she was good looking as well for an overweight person, many women in their cases are so bummed up, she was not,, anyhow, is nice to see her again, I loved her laughter, specially when it came out spontaneously, that was so contagious, an awesome woman,, loved her. salu2.
@@twobirdsflipping3217 you doubt that I'm familiar with the term "respect" simply because of an obvious observation? .. are you familiar with the term "Sanity"?
@@twobirdsflipping3217 You call someone a jerk and assume they don't know what respect is because of my comment.. yet it's ME being petty? 😃 How does someone is who's more sensitive than a cracked tooth and absolutely no sense of irony have any interest in George Carlin in the first place? You do know that "petty" is the soil that comedians grow their jokes from, right? That's why so many jokes start with "Have you ever noticed.." That comes from the place of petty. That being said.. look at all the other comments about her interrupting him.
To think he only lived 10 more years after this interview. Didn't make it anywhere near his 90s, unfortunately. We lost a great one when he passed. Miss his wisdom and wit.
Two of my favorite people I like watching. I miss ole George. Man, I so wish he was still alive today. Wouldn't be so fun to see him do a satire on YT about what we got going nowadays?😆😅
I had an aortic dissection that required surgery to replace the damaged artery with a prosthetic. They stopped my heart for quite a while. In many cultures historically when your heart stops you're dead. It changed my perspective on mortality.
I had a lot more than an hour a day of "unstructured time" when I was a kid, and apparently it ruined me because I still "daydream" an awful lot, to the point where I don't do some things that really need attention.
