George defend Veronica (Young sheldon) 

George is the hero of this show. He puts up with Sheldon's ridiculous crap, his wife's crap, Georgie's crap and still tries to do right by everyone.

I love this scene. "Sure. Why not?" That's just great. He ain't even gonna sweat it. THAT'S confidence.

“Thanks for stoppin’ by” is Texan for “you have two seconds to get the fuck out of here.”

It was especially nice to hear the respect in Veronica's voice when she answers George with a quiet "No, Sir".

There's something so sinisterly pleasant when George says "Thanks for stoppin' by"

George may haven’t been the best dad, but he was the dad doing his best

I love this scene. Clint tried to be intimidating but George's little "Why not?" smirk clearly said 'You do NOT impress me.' And the punch being off-screen was better then actually seeing it. You hear the punch first and then the sound of a body hitting the floor.🤣

I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed that George immediately put himself between Georgie and Clint. Then when Veronica said "No, sir," he also put himself in front of her. George, the protector of the children. People forget that not only is he a dad to three kids (and about to be a grandfather), but he is also a high school teacher and football coach. His character is trained to protect children.

I think it’s sweet how Georgie tries to protect Veronica and I kinda wish they’d have kept Veronica in more of this show. She is a cool character.

I like how George Snr actually asks Veronica what she wants to do rather than Georgie who just says she's not going.

I love how, through the use of camera angles and the fact that he is standing with children, Clint seems quite large and intimidating. Then when George arrives it is made clear that he is larger and more physically imposing than Clint, which is also shown by Clint's change in body language. Great scene.

That "Thanks for stopping by" is one of the most accurately Southern things I've seen on TV. It's an f- off with implied violence while being unfailingly polite.

George and Sheldon show perfectly why Wisdom and intelligence are not the same thing

I really like that this was a collection of stories told by Sheldon himself, specially after he let's us know he has kids of his own now, cause during tbbt we didn't get that many good memories from his dad, except for the speech that pretty much got Sheldon the Nobel prize, but young Sheldon spent it's entire run doing justice for Sheldon's dad, almost like if, after having kids of his own, all he can remember about his dad is the good stuff

Mary: "Why is he sleeping on our front porch?" George: "I sang him a lullaby."

George: "You mind puttin' down my kid?" Clint: "Why do I hear boss music?"

Leonard adored Sheldons mom Penny would’ve adored Sheldons dad

I love how George handled this. He respected the woman's decision to not want to return to her mom.

“Thanks for stopping by” = “You got bout a second before Southern hospitality turns SOUTH”😂

"There's a bum sleeping on our front porch" made me laugh sooo hard, that's why the show is so good.

I love how as soon as he knows she doesn’t want to go with him that he completely blocks the doorway and creates a clear barrier between Clint and the kids. IE, if you wanna get to them you gotta go through me.

“Sure, why not” has gotta be up there with the most badass responses to a threat

I love how the father acts in this scene, the second the bf put his hand on Georgie he placed himself in that situation REAL quick

Very honorable. George knows what he has to do to protect his family and household; without mincing words.

I’m so glad that they made George a much better father than he was described by Sheldon in TBBT.

The meaty smack of the punch, followed by the sound of something heavy hitting the floor, then George coming back in rubbing his hand. This scene works on so many levels.

George is Dad of the Year! I love how this clip tells a story that gets written in the viewers imagination instead of the page of a script!

"Thanks for stopping by." The last thing one hears from a Texan before they get a good dose of castle defense.

George Sr, is a stand up guy, very under rated character on this show, this was his best scene on this show defending Veronica and Georgie against this guy

"That's my mom's boyfriend, Clint." Not even a father or step father. George had every right to sock that shithead, especially for manhandling his child.

I love how he looks annoyed and not threatened at all.

"Sure, why not?" Best darned line in the whole series!!

I love how George takes "You wanna mess with me?" the same way he might when asked for a beer. Completely casual.

George is the man’s man and this is only one of the many times He proves it. He doesn’t need to talk down to anyone, curse, or have an attitude to assert his manly dominance. He just owns it and shows that in his character.

Dude forgot there isn’t anything stronger than a loving father

Two things I like about this in particular: 1. George isn't depicted as weak because he has a big gut. 2. When George says Clint in that derisive tone, you can almost hear how he's remembering the bad kerning on that name from comic books in his youth.

Never f*ck around with a calm man who is willingly agrees with violence.

I've never watched the show but this makes me want to. The respect George shows asking Veronica what she wants and respecting her decision is incredibly heartwarming. Her response to him and George's sassyness while still kicking that guys butt is just so COOL!! Very cool scene all around!!

George was a Veteran of the Army and a Football Coach. The Army taught him how to hurt people - and playing football gave him practice at it. Wrong person to mess with, Clint. .

George was a great father. RIP George Cooper. You made the world a better place.

I don't watch this show but I really loved how George handled the situation. A true civilised grown man who's not looking for trouble but is always ready when trouble knocks on the door

Noticed how Veronica folded her hands defensively when she was alone? And how they unfolded when Gerorgie appeared and he kinda put Veronica behind her. And when George came around he waited for Veronica's cue to step in front of both of them.

Isabel May played Veronica and did an amazing job. I wish Veronica was an ongoing character on this wonderful show.😊

That “thanks for stopping by” should’ve told Clint more than enough.

This is why I am proud of George Sr. Protector of the vulnerable. Not afraid to get his hands dirty when he knows what's right. I also load the clip of him on The Big Bang Theory when he tells Sheldon through an old video tape of halftime "You learn more about who you are and what you're made of from your failures as much as your victories, even more."

Though Sheldon might've said a few times that his father isn't a role model, I think he got blessed with a wonderful father figure. He took a job he wouldn't have wanted because it provided a nice life for the family, he took Missy for daddy daughter dates and knew how to support her when she got her first period, and he defended his kids from anyone who tried to hurt them, and he didn't just do that for his children. This scene shows he treated Veronica like a daughter, and in season 5 Billy was like a son to him. He was the best father from the start. From the moment he got Mary pregnant with Georgie, he didn't let an unplanned pregnancy make him run. He stepped up to the plate to do everything for Mary and their child. Georgie in a later season imitated that example when he got Mandy pregnant. Mandy wanted to be a single mom, but Georgie still went to the obstetrician with her and found whatever sources of income he could so he could provide for Mandy and the child he conceived, even travelling to another country in a vain attempt to do so. It's so sad that when this happens, the church ostracizes the family. I know the church doesn't like sex before marriage, but I'm sure they do like a father who can step up to the plate and be a father financially, emotionally, etc and not just biologically. I wonder if in the course of Mandy's pregnancy and Georgie's journey with fatherhood, the church community will ever stop to think about that!

Gotta love George. Seriously George and Georgie are the best parts of the show.

Every scene of George in young sheldon just makes me kinda sad cause it's clear in tbbt that sheldon doesn't remember how his dad really was and everyone else just talks so ill of him that those horrible words about George that that becomes what sheldon thinks of him too

George was so calm in that situation. if my dad had seen a grown man doing that to me, he would've pounced on the guy before he had time to let go.

Friendly reminder. Despite being a big old Texan football coach, that likes brisket a little too much, George Sr. is a certified US Army veteran who did a couple tours in Vietnam. Never judge a book by its cover. Clint sure did and look what happened to him.

There are a lot of scenes like this on Young Sheldon. Georgie is just as protective and stand on what's right as his dad too. Sheldon and Missy too. I love the character of this family.

George wasn't being some violent brute, he asked Veronica what she wanted first, prioritizing her security, before getting reading for potential conflict, which he dealt with successfully. More men could learn a thing or 2 from this.

After watching the whole episode, I looked for this particular scene and watched it a few times. This shows who George really is, a loving and protecting dad❤

George has some young Dan Conner and some Hoss Cartwright in him.

Georgie is honestly a hero and a wonderful guy for defending not only his son but Veronica as well

It was awesome seeing George being a great dad for sure. But let's not forget Georgie himself! Even when Clint grabbed Georgie by the shirt he did not flinch once or stopped staring the guy dead in his eyes. Like father like son.

This just PROVES how Caring, George can actually be!!

George Cooper may not have had it all like he wanted, but he is a good example for young viewers to see in an age where wholesome values and protection aren't projected very much.
