Our main detriment, is simple. It's that too many of our 18% with 4 year degrees, or better. Did not heed Dr. E. B. Dubois', second part of the quote he used. Dubois said, once we got those degrees. We would "Come Back", to our communities. I was a part of the big transition (integration), that led to that almost doubling of the number of degrees. Dr. Dubois predicted would change us, in a beautiful way. Well the cry in the 60s and even until today. Get out of our communities! No other group did that. I would say 80-90% of college degree folk, entertainers, athlete's and other big money earners. Do not live in or near, the communities that produced them. That single fact, is at the root, of our non progress. They are chasing white folk. Example, For all the doctors and Lawyers we produce, few set up offices in or near our communities. Once we stay around, the rest will take care of itself.
Good point have you read The Mis-Education of the Negro By Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson (1933) Chapter 2 - How We Missed the Mark Chapter Summary: After slavery ended, the U.S. government established the Freedmen’s Bureau. One of its goals was to provide schooling for the former slaves. But, just what kind of schooling should these newly free people receive? Many argued that they needed what was considered a classical or liberal education, one that included philosophy, religion, science, and history. Others argued that an industrial education, one that focused on practical skills such as carpentry, sewing, and scientific farming, would be best for the freed people. The well-known debate between Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois dealt with these two perspectives. Woodson’s position was somewhere between these two arguments. Woodson proposed that, above all, African Americans should be educated in a manner that would best develop their talents and build up their communities.
Are you kidding? Almost everyone wants to leave the ghetto! I don't want to be robbed, shot, or worried about my children falling into a gang. It is not fair to blame people for wanting to live in safety; most crimes against black people are black-on-black violence. Three of my good friends are dead! It wasn't a white person who killed them. Should black people move into a dangerous neighborhood to prove they are still black? If these actors, sports stars, lawyers, and doctors move into dangerous areas, the criminal element would eat them up. I agree we must fix these neighborhoods first, make them safe for the residents, then people can move in safely.

We have to be real. Europeans were under slavery worldwide under the system that this gentleman is twlking about....we had them under slavery. We make them walk from Arabia all the way to Caucaus mountains...took everything from them...I mean everything including language...so it doesn't surprise me that we went through the same. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth...and God just watched laughing at their misery when they were slaves and when we were slaves...I will not get into arguments here with anyone those that know history...know that we put the chains and the shakles first.... The cycle of 360 degrees is almost over and completed.
Thank you for view our program and providing your comments. The history of slavery spans many cultures, nationalities, and religions from ancient times to the present day. However, the social, economic, and legal positions of slaves have differed vastly in different systems of slavery in different times and places (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_slavery)
