George loved his gardens, I spent over an hour chatting with him about them, I avoided asking him any questions about the Beatles, which I believe was why our chat lasted for so long. A great guy with a brilliant sense of humour

Awesome! Have you been to Friar Park, then?

No, unfortunately not, I met up with him in a newsagent’s in Henley. We are both from Liverpool and he recognised my accent and we started chatting

@@tiswas What a great story. Happy for you and jealous at the same time! I came within shouting distance of George once...went to see him in Philadelphia during his '74 North American Tour...we went behind the stage while the Indian musicians were playing. He was sitting off stage...my friend and I yelled to him as loud as we could, but we never got his attention...which is probably a good thing...I most likely would have have a heart attack if he had acknowledged us! Security came rather quickly as ushered us out of there anyway...it was well worth the attempt, though...

What a beautiful, magical place. It’s on my bucket list to see it, though I know that will never happen. These are such beautiful photos, thanks for sharing them with us. A virtual reality tour would be awesome!

Hi Scott, I have never seen the photo of George inside the water cave. I would love to see more photos of all of the caves. Absolutely LOVE the virtual reality idea!!

I don’t believe that George Harrison ever took a bad picture during his entire life. So to rank one over another is impossible. He was truly a gift to us all. Great work and thanks for putting this out.

Visited there in 1969 when I was 6. My Aunt was a Salesian Nun who was there at the time. I think George was in the process of purchasing at the time.

Wonderful video, as always! Iike to think George's spirit strolls around the gardens every night at Friar Park-he loved his gardens at night because he couldn't see the flaws as well.

Great pic of George on the balcony! I don't think I've ever seen it before. I think that the last pic that you showed of George sitting at the pond, smiling, is the best one. Jmo

Incredible that rock stars in their 20's could buy these historic estates fit for a king. Sometimes a few of them.

Thanks for teaching me new things about George. He's the Beatle that I know the *least* about....although, admittedly, I am not an expert on *any* of the Beatles. I think their giant, sprawling estates are fascinating.....and how lucky those gardeners & caretakers must have felt being able to do something they love in such an epic place!

I think the photo when George Harrison had the perm haircut was around 1979 when he put out the self titled album George Harrison, that had the big hit Blow Away

I wonder if George was inspired to buy a big house with gardens after visiting John at Tittenhurst for that photo session around his wonderful estate?
@StrangeHistoryX
@StrangeHistoryX Год назад
He was certainly inspired by all the gardens and the lake that John was building.

I lived just by the bridge over the river Thames about 1/4 mile from his gate. We would see George around town on occasion. I never saw any fuss made of him or any other famous person, and there were plenty, back in the 70s. Famous is a totally different thing now and not in a good way.

Thats not even an insult, even if he was the worst Beatle its still better than 99.9% of modern musicians.
