"The majority of the money is going into Wall St and Ads…" so true... why is Elon building 3 of the world's favourite companies? George is really Elon's closet competition.

They told us learn to code. And then when we did, they shut our voices down. It's like with the Monarchy who forbid the teaching of the bible and reading. Once the masses learned to read, instead of reforming themselves, they tried to reform or regress the masses. The controllers aren't going to give up that easy if it's not beneficial to them. So what do you see with new growing competition? You see SEC regulations, disasters, and smear campaigns. We can't free the economy without a free market.

Yes his assumption for example that the grid will stay the same and always be from polluting sources, I believe is incorrect. Smart grids, movements to solar due to wildfire power cuts as well as large scale geothermal and solar and wind farms with better battery storage will mean a very different energy mix in the next few years.

@snitox
@snitox 3 года назад
Friendly Competition for innovations doesn't exist in capitalism today. Never have. The innovations you see is because red teams and blue teams inside firms are doing friendly competition. The same thing happened inside in the USSR during the cold war. Neither the USSR or US were competing for money. Just delete this notion from your brain. Capitalism entails monopolization and is incentivized to not compete.

i don't get the mapping complaint, mobileye only takes 10KB of data for 1KM of road for all needed FSD features, you can fit map of entire planet's roads in 1TB. Without mapping the car will drive like a driver that has never driven on that road, all the time, even if the SW has driven that stretch millions of times, why leave that advantage on the table?

Like this guy's approach. Seems like his vision of the future is more spot on. Agree with what he said about Level 2. What company really want's the liability of level 3-5. He seems a little crazy but maybe a crazy genius. Have to look for more on George. I though NYK Autonomous Future was a little too Utopian but they live near Boston. I would love an EV and Tesla has helped us get closer but George is right that I think EV's have a way to go (power grid, battery constraints, etc.) Just went on a road trip that took me though rural Nebraska and had I been in the highest range tesla not sure I would have made it. I may could have taken a different route but I only saw small gas stations for 400+miles. Best I could have done was plug into a 110 outlet for hours.
@Nphen
@Nphen 3 года назад
Thank you for this balanced comment. I think I got too caught up in some of NYK logic. It would be really tough to make the robotaxi model work anytime soon in many rural arras which represent the majority of land area in the US.

I've ridden motorbikes on race tracks at 150mph, and I definitely used both of my eyes :-) And I'm trying to brake from 150mph down to 70mph, and get my turning point correct, so I need distance points, etc, as well as peripheral so I can look past where I am and allow peripheral to kerb exit. Speeds above can cause headshaking, which shakes the vision. That's really difficult.

George is not doing good robotaxi math. 1.4 billion cars on the world's roads. 1 camera systems have been involved in fatal collisions involving cruiser motorcycles. These are motorcycles that are low down, with pairs of red lights close together, low down. At night time they can look like a car in the distance, but they are actually a lot closer. Teslas have a number of these fatal collisions in the media. Would stereoscopic cameras help with this?

Interesting guy. Has some truly good insights in some areas. In the end, however, there are a lot of very important factors being ignored by the "early adopter," technocratic mentality. There are reasons why the OEM's will not disappear anytime soon. One of them is POLITICAL CORRUPTION. The reason that wasteful and overpriced ICE cars have dominated for so long is the power of the oil companies to influence geopolitics. If the "power of the 99%" truly determined the course of the world's people and technologies, then what the "1%" does wouldn't matter. However, it is the "1%" that control the world, and that isn't likely to change anytime soon. Bring on the hate now.

Toyota locked down the ECU on 2 of their top selling cars, Comma doesn't work on these cars. It would be very easy for all the manufactures to lock down their ECU's. There is a new car every year, IMO it would impossible to crack the ECU's on every brand of car, every year. That being said, I love my openpilot, it is the sole reason I picked up a 2021 Rav4 instead of a Honda CRV.

49:00 Just remove it. With the internet it's not necessary. Something like Khan academy, which is free, is already way better. Save that money and let parents and the children have independent free education. Maybe check whether they're learning some minimums or have some reduced educative system, but mainly remove it. More than 6 years of forced education is too much in my opinion. Something important would be to remove exams, and replace them with challenges that they can try again and again. You pass the knowledge block when you pass all the challenges. Infinite attempts. And projects for socializing and trying more complex problems.

love George. interesting take on capturing the low end market. however if Tesla robotaxis become a thing, there may be no low end car market left. we shall see.

The reason for V2V is to track cars. This is like cars with cameras and the ones that talk back home. Even if your car doesn't have it, all the other cars with cameras can see you and report.

This was a very entertaining interview, I don't usually watch these sorts of things all the way to the end but in this case it was quite interesting, great job on the questions too, lots of things were asked that I wanted to know about.
