This episode was quickly written to replace an episode titled "The Bet" which was never filmed. The script by Larry Charles had Jerry betting Elaine $100 that she will not buy a gun. Elaine ends up buying a gun from a friend of Kramer's. The script featured a scene in which Elaine points the gun to her head and asks, "Where do you want it, Jerry? The Kennedy? The McKinley?" This is a reference to two assassinated US presidents, John F. Kennedy and William McKinley, both died of gunshot wounds. After reading the scene, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine) turned to Jason Alexander (George) and said "I'm not doing this", and the episode was scrapped.

I can certainly see why they axed that episode. All the other Kennedy references made during the series are quite clever and funny----this one would have gone over like a lead balloon. Kudos to Julia.

I have a real problem with saying you need 360 pairs of underwear in order to only do one load of laundry a year. You would only need 183 pairs assuming that many fit in your washer. Just like Larry King mentioned, I now understand why the show got canceled.

The really funny bit to me is that George of all people shouldn't find the offer of a post-dinner coffee strange. Estelle complains on the way back home in the episode where they met Susan's parents how they weren't offered any coffee (and cake) after dinner.
