Here is a summary I wrote to help myself solidify my understanding of the video. In this video, George Lakoff discusses the relationship between emotions and our thoughts. Without emotions, he says, we are unable to reason, talking about the stroke victims as an example of this phenomenon in real life. He then mentions "frames" as concepts critical to understanding ideas that exist within frames- we couldn't know about a surgeon without first understanding the frame in which a surgeon operates, in this case a hospital. He goes on to begin talking about how neural pathways are formed and strengthened as we continue to think about certain things- at first the connection is weaker, but as the pathway is shortened and a quicker way between neurons discovered, the connection becomes stronger.

very good science summary from a cognitive neuroscience and linguistics professor. It's accessible to the layperson, but dispels many common myths about how we make decisions and think in ways. I wonder if this is in textbooks and which textbook you might find it in? it should be covered in a first year college psychology textbook, based on the content, general applicability and wide reaching conclusions. Can anyone find for me where this unified concept is covered in traditional education study materials?
