My favorite clip from Seinfeld S08E15. George uses the theme song from The Greatest American Hero as answering machine message. Watch in 480p. I don't own this video - (c) Warner Bros. Entertainment and National Broadcast Company
Doesn't work in today's world. People can just break up through text messages now. Granted not the classiest way to break up, but the message is clear and you're probably not going to see that person again anyways.
George Kam doing something like that would have been considered awful back in that time. You have to understand that the 90s were a different. Out of all my girlfriends I’ve ever had I’ve never actually been broken up with in person or has broke up with someone in person just cuz of how different todays society is
@@bladegtr34 people can break up by simply ignoring each other I've done that to so many chics now haha, I just stop talking to them when I get bored and they get the message that it's over, but they've done it to me as well so it's all good what goes around comes around haha
Every time I get this song stuck in my head, the shrug is also stuck in there. Sometimes I'll catch myself singing the song in my head and doing the shrug irl.
I can separate the actor from the character, even if that can become a challenge at some point, but Kramer seem to become more of an asshole the longer the show went on. He was funny but the old shtick of him coming in n eating Jerry's food n making weird noises went from cute to annoying in the last days of the show. And that incident with Elaine's bike always bugs me.
The weird part is how funny it was when I was young, but it's even funnier now that I'm older, because as an adult I've actually done a lot of what Jerry and his friends do.
Producers thought that Jason's singing (as George) was too good. So, after Jason left the studio, I pitched (de-tuned) the music track a little flat, making Jason's singing sound a little sharp. Producers happy. Me too.
+Jonathan Wolff thank you! I have always wondered this... Jason is crazy talented in so many ways and his voice on the machine always sounds off to me and now I know why... too funny
@ryan barker I get it,and I'm only 12,it was from a TV show called Greatest American Hero,a show about a guy who received a suite from some aliens and lost the Manual, and had 2 figure out the powers the suite gave him, like invisiblety, not just super strength and flying abilities, also a kid showed him how to fly. So again I get it and I'm only 12.
I got drunk once and made my own rendition of this as my voicemail. Missed a call from my boss the next day. It took her a few moments to compose herself before she actually left a message.
Using his answering machine to screen calls while sitting in front of his cassette tape collection and watching a movie that he physically rented from the movie store. Yes, children, this is an accurate depiction of life during a time called the 90s.
Speaking of renting movies, let's not forget about Blockbuster: that delicious smell of their signature popcorn wafting up your nose as soon as you entered the doors, the way they laid out the shelving so you could explore multiple genres all at once, running into a friend or family, better times man. Better times.
I think Larry David found him and thought “Jerry’s a good start, but this is exactly the guy I could play out all my wildest comedic fantasies through.”
When I was a teenager, Kramer was the funniest to me. In my 20s, I thought Jerry was the funniest. Now in my 30s, George has me dying. I think Elaine is funny, too, but George takes it for the win.
i saw the entirety of seinfeld when i was 19 and immediately i loved george, kramer was always pretty cool but to this day george is my favorite character of all time
George actually would’ve had to go through some trouble finding an instrumental version of Greatest American Hero to sing over in 1996 which makes it even funnier.
BEST ANSWER MACHINE MESSAGE EVER!!! HAHAHHAHA!!!Love how he shrugs his shoulders on "where could I be" LOL. Watching Seinfeld stuff makes my day especially when I am having an bad day. It just cheers you up.
Believe it or not George isn't at home, please leave a message at the beep. I must be out or I'd pick up the phone; where could I be? Believe it or not, I'm not home!
This is even funnier when you realise that Jason Alexander is actually a talented singer. He has been in multiple broadway shows and movie musicals ( he's the lead in the 90s tv version of Bye Bye Birdie and he was in the Brandy version of Cinderella - the best version - as the king's secretary) He also has a tony award for best actor in a musical.
Link by link... You're on the brink... It's written here, in blood-red ink! Unlock your heart, it's not too late, or you'll be dragging something more than twice this weight!
I heard the original song "Believe it or not, I'm walking on air..." on some movie I was watching the other day and ever since I've had this version stuck in my head and had to look it up. God, I love Seinfeld.
I swear this show is a classic!! Today I was in the car with my mum and the original song came on and we broke into song singing this version. we were cracking up the whole time!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

There are some things kids of a newer generation will never understand. Making silly outgoing messages for the machine was one of those simple pleasures in life.
This episode's name is "Susie". I was not ready to find such an iconic and hilarious scene on that episode. Caught me off guard, laughed my ass off just last night again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In college I sang this on my cell phone but changed it to "I could be at work, but I don't have a job." My dad thought it was the funniest thing. RIP pops 🙏
haha he is great american hero, just like me. coca-cola and Elvis Presley. Hello American friend, if you see balloon in sky high above house: never mind it, it is weather balloon or rock and roll concert.
As a kid I didn't get this show, but as an Adult, I see the vision. I see the genius. It's too good. George's shoulders and his "Gee I wonder" face just take me OUT every time LOL!
