My Husband was a Police Officer. He would come home with a heavy heart some days and would try to leave it all with his badge, but there were days he'd head to the barn to be with the horses ,goats or chickens and I knew he just needed to decompress. Then he'd come in and sometimes want to talk, other times not. I never pushed . He lost his battle to Mesothelioma in 2010. God bless all who serve and protect us. You may never hear a thank you... so here's to you...THANK YOU !

I started 9/9/194. I retired 3/8/2023. It was a lot of good days and bad. But, I hope I made a small difference in someone's live in a positive way. God bless those that still walk the line.

My Daddy was a Chicago cop for over 30 years,then a US Marshal for 6. So very proud of him. He's my HERO always. As a kid I thought my Daddy was Superman.

He was a hero to me as well. My husband was a cop for 26 1/2 years, my son is a cop too. The badge weighs heavy on the families as well.

I was a Firefighter/EMT for 20 years. This song hits me hard in my heart. I’ve seen miracles and I’ve seen the worst. The weight of the badge changes you over the years. You can’t control it. I pray every family out there who has a loved one wearing a badge will understand and accept this. It is only fitting that The King of Country would do this tribute. It means more than you will ever know, George. Thank you so much and God bless.

My father was a volunteer firefighter for 11 years. Now, 20 some-odd years later, I'm a paid-on-call firefighter for our town. Been on for 3 years now and he still jumps most of the time when my pager goes off, and he always pulls up the scanner feed for our town so he can listen in and make sure I'm okay

I served for 40 years wearing the badge in various units over the years. My wife used to tell me to have fun when I left for work. When I got home she was waiting at the door with the babies. I asked her one day why she would tell me to have fun. She said that was her way of telling me to be careful. She couldn't say be careful. She said she would start thinking too much about all the things that could happen. I retired as a Sergeant. Had to have 2 surgeries from injuries over the years and she stuck by me. After I retired, her mother told me that my wife would cry when she knew I was in harms way and she was so relieved when I retired. I never knew what she went through. I really appreciate this song from George Strait.

coming from a young kid who had no respect for police, but so much respect for our Veterans(almost 30 now). I feel like we should normalize saying "Thank you for your Service" to these men and women as well. So for all our first responders and men and women in law enforcement, EMTS, local Fire Depts. Thank you for your service, and trying to be the Heroes our communities need.

Just left federal law enforcement after 15 years. It's bittersweet but I couldn't take seeing only the bad in people anymore. 23 years of my life were spent in combat, preparing for combat or hunting down, terrible people, who've done terrible things. I want to smile again and believe in people again. What a fantastic song. Stay safe, all of you!! You've got families to come home to!

That's the worrying and waiting I subjected my family to. I've had a great career and I've been blessed to come through it. I have some scars, both visible and not. But I've lost brothers and sisters along the way, they didn't get to the end. All were taken too soon. Their families were forever burdened by the weight of the shield. Thankfully I can hang mine up. God Bless those who gave it all, their families, and all who support our law enforcement.

I was working with 2 police officers last night and showed them this video, they were going back to the station to make sure all of their coworkers were able to see this video and hear the stories. As the daughter of a LEO, this song hits. I never knew when my father was on shift. I think my parents did that so my sister and I wouldn't get worried. As an adult, anytime I heard that was a shooting back home I would feel sick until I got hold of my father or my office would look into it because I was on shift. On 03/19/2022 while George Strait was performing this song at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock, AR, the North Little Rock police, EMT and Firefighters were helping a young lady that collapsed at the beginning of the song. As the song played with George unaware of the badge at work, he played as they did just as they called to do…The meaning of this song was alive, in action and only the fans around this young lady witnessed the true weight of the badge. They protected her, they took control, made sure she was going to be okay. At the end of the song, she unfortunately was wheeled out by EMS. Thank you, North Little Rock, AR emergency personnel, you wear your badge with honor, and I pray that young lady is okay.

As a child I didn’t understand the weight of my dad being an officer. I was proud of course. I was used to him being called out during the night, popping in for holidays to eat and leave again. As I got older, I started to worry.. and pray he’d come home every day. I thank God he made it through, and has been retired for many yrs now. He carries the weight of all the faces he recovered, all the families he had to notify and hold. I’m sure there’s a lot I don’t know. I’m glad he still goes to eat with the men he worked with, and that they made it through too till retirement. Let us not forget our DNR (department of natural resources). God bless everyone with a badge.

Absolutely beautiful song for our brave men and women who put their lives on the line every moment they walk out their front door, and put on that badge. My husband was a Trooper for almost 20 years, and watched a fellow officer killed and took 3 bullets himself to protect complete strangers. It takes the bravest of the brave to risk everything, for those they never knew. Please show kindness and understanding... they have a job that not many could or would do. I am so incredibly blessed and grateful to have such a wonderful blue family, and will always love and support our men in blue. I was a firefighter/paramedic for 20 years. Started as a volunteer and got a paid job soon after. Unfortunately I was medically retired in 2022 due physical and mental injuries from the job. I miss it. I miss it every day. I miss putting on the uniform, having coffee around the table at the firehouse with my brothers and sisters, solving the worlds problems. Nothing else like it. God bless those that wear the badge.

My late husband and my son are/were soldiers...and you thank them for their service...and most of the come home...WHO YOU SHOULD REALLY THANK ARE YOUR LOCAL POLICE. THEY HAVE TO PUT UP WITH YOU AND THEY PROTECT YOU!!!! They are in more danger that most military. Yes, I love and was proud of my husband and am proud of my son. I appreciate the thanks, but they come home from work...and the job. BUT THE POLICE DO IT FOR LIFE and they are always in danger. And that is around home! They are real HEROES all of them.

What an incredible honor! To have a retired officer give a collar devise from his original uniform, and a replica of his own badge, to Mr Strait is a sign of the deepest respect any man of service can render. It would be the equivalent of me giving someone my original shooting badge from when I was in Marine Boot Camp in 1976.

I am a First responder (Volunteer FF) with 32 years, a retired LEO with 20 years. My Father is 82, he had 30 years as an LEO, my brother is an LEO with 18 years and is also a Volunteer Firefighter for 20. I guess you can say it runs in the blood. We have seen our ups and downs, the heartaches and births. I pray for all our first responders no matter age, or years on. We go to place that folks are running from. I just a great friend (brother LEO) get shot, survived and is home within the past few weeks. Please watch each other, Stay safe.

I raised and lowered the flag for 10 years on a military bases. I went on to be in charge of those who were tasked to do the same after me. God bless the USA.

Respect to all the first responders who take their jobs seriously and protect and serve our communities. On the other hand, shame to those who hide behind the badge to harm others in the name of the law. I'm looking at the officers at Uvalde who stood around scared and backed away like cowards.
