The famed scientist and inventor best known for the amazing work he did with peanuts -- he cooked up over 100 uses for peanuts incluing plastics and gasoline -- gave this rare interview four years before he died in 1943. It's an inspiring story about the importance of scientific discovery and putting ego aside in the search for facts and the truth.

There is no real evidence for that. It's just a rumor. If he was castrated as a boy, he wouldn't have reached normal height or grown facial hair.

I have to admit that I wasn't expecting that voice either. but he was a sickly child, so that likely had something to do with it. especially depending on his age here and the recording technology available likely altered voiced from their natural tone. brilliant man regardless.

This man is the US version of Da Vinci. He improved the color blue that was in crayons, and used in art. It was more a cornflower blue before, now a true blue. Reused paper before paper mills started making recycled paper,made tile out of peanut shells. He saved the southern crops by encouraging farmers to grow peanuts instead of cotton. Saved them from economic disaster because of the bowl weevil infestation. If anyone deserves a statue its this man.

He wasn't castrated. That was debunked decades ago. He was a sickly child who regularly had infections of the lungs and throat, which damaged his vocal cords.

The big thing I remember about his motivations was his grief when his younger brother died of smallpox when they were children. That's what got him into medicine

This is what I read: “But he was worth a great deal to Susan and Moses, who were grieving the loss of the baby’s mother, their beloved Mary. And so, just as they had done with Mary, they treated George as their own child. But the first years of his life were a constant struggle for survival. He continued to cough horribly, which damaged his vocal cords and would give him, to the end of his days, a pronouncedly high, feminine-sounding voice. But Susan nursed him through his endless illnesses. George also suffered from a stutter and was slow to develop physically.” The book is called 7 MORE MEN by Eric Metaxas

@@pappy374 That rumor was started because of his high-pitched voice, and it's nothing more than a vile rumor. Had he been castrated as a child so that his voice would have been affected that way, he also would not have grown facial hair.

He had Whooping cough 😷 he sat with people who hated him for the color of his skin and than wanted to take credit but they were amazed by his humble heart way opinion he’s natural no one out there made peanut butter, oils I did a report on him in 6th grade I was able to choose and so glad I chose him! Thank you 🙏🏻 I don’t get why people don’t know about this amazing Dr. George Washington Carver can we make a day honored to him he’s forever honored in me cause I don’t see color!

Carver is largely credited with the popularization of peanuts and sweet potatoes. He did not invent peanut butter, as many have been led to believe, but he did craft many recipes that involved their use.

I read that his voice is due to having started his life as an enslaved person and having been castrated by his enslaver. I am researching to see if this is true. I don’t know.

There's no proof of that. If he really were castrated as a child, he likely would've been much shorter and had trouble growing facial hair. Some historians think his voice was due to vocal cord damage from a childhood battle with whooping cough, tuberculosis, or other throat infections.

It was said in the documentary Hidden Colors, that he was castrated in the town he grew up in, as an effort to keep him away from white women. Not sure if that played into why his voice sounds like that or not.

No, he says essentially you'll be vindicated later - that people will realise you were acting with all purpose and good faith they may accuse you of lacking whilst unpopular - the most important thing is to have judged the value of the things you do for yourself. And in that way you need not seek out their praise it will find you if you judge well anyway. ;)

George Carver's needed to , Maybe that's the reason. why someone else is banking off of the patterning of his creation. There's an empire being built .on his creation alone.
