My poem 'Pickup Line Protest' shortened for Good Magazine and 247 Townhall's 'If I Were President Series.' Filmed at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. www.georgewatsky.com
Brown Eyes Princess I interpreted it as a president taking going to war very casually, like the average person would ask a friend if they wanted to grab a pizza and watch a movie.
Ahhh I love Watsky so much it's just painful. I know that every time he writes he gets to choose the angle that we view him and select the nicest light, etc... But I have yet to meet anyone else so honest and eloquent, so like... Dammit
That was extremely intelligent, witty, and oh, so true. I was thoroughly entertained, perplexed, and enlightened. What really captured me, though, is Watsky basically saying that we have/had these atrocious presidents simply because it's LEARNED behavior. If I were offered presidency, I would decline solely because of this fact.
I was on my youtube home page and it said that one of my friends liked a video of his, so I'm like "Hmm...must be good, let's check it out." YES I'm so glad I did because this guy is absolutely amazing.
Dude if you put this to some hip hop jazz and adjusted the speed here and there this is golden just take out the part where you think your ass is golden or they will dub you midas
He always inspires me and makes me think. I was watching before Ellen. Keep on changing minds you've got the tools to open the eyes of these blind sheep
Rap has lost its glory, these days anyone can make a rhyme and put it to a beat. It's people like George that bring back the once magical melodies to the beats and make it something more than a song.
This kid is soooo beyond his years, in terms of lyrical finesse and the depth of his messages. I don't generally care for the rap genre, but I keep clicking on his vids right now. That says something.
You know, I usually think quoting some clever line on the internet is just embarrassing, but I've got to show love for Watsky. To me, "Yo, America! Wanna get a pizza and go to war?" perfectly summarizes the ideology and contradiction in the modern American way of life. Plus, y'know, cracks me up!
If he were president, no one would be able to follow what he was saying. He would start speaking really fast and everyone wold freak out. It would be fucking amazing
This is something of a masterpiece. I want to see more of these poetry. Your arent bad a t rap, you are quite good. But i fukcing love these. They mak eme think, Please make more.
If I were president I would hire Noam Chomsky as my chief advisor and every school would sing John Lennon in the morning... That would truly be incredible.
I actually would vote you, i see you always having a point in your talk. You aren't afraid to say your oppinion in your words, not to soften it any way. You see clear goals and your willing to carry them throught, no matter how heavy they are.
I'm not American, I'm not an economist, I'm not a politician...I'm just me--young and ignorant to the world that surrounds me, but that doesn't mean that I don't see it. The issues that keeps on being set aside, not only in America but also in other parts of the world. So don't be a prejudice that discourage the people that voice out their opinions. Be a listener, because sometimes the only way to fix something is to listen first. Now, if I were president I would start with the homeless.
I love how he thinks , well his half family is from eastern Europe, and I'm from eastern Europe we think the same ,especially when he is Polish and I'm Lithuanian. ;)) Love this guy sooooooooo much ! ;))))
"And the next time a politician comes up to me at a bar, as for some reason, they often do, and says 'God damnit, George, you must be wearing space pants tonight because your ass is out of this world.' I'm gonna say 'My great ass is not the point.'" Hahahaha, best thing ever.
@Westjetish "This video came out two years ago...." And RU-vid's been around for over 5 years now. The comment section on these videos are not formatted for good discussions. And there are people from around the world with different grasps on politics, the English language, and history. If you want my opinion of this poem, it is a lovely poem very eloquently expressing his point of view in an effective and comical way, as is George's style. I agree with him that it's learned behavior.
everyone is hating on Ron Paul. Sorry that he has YOUR best intrest at heart, and is fighting for YOUR rights and YOUR property. but if you want the government to keep stealing from you, and driving into the ground, thats just another one of your rights Ron Paul is happy to protect for you.
@hyrumsutton is it just me or did you not read the description that says this is a poem he shortened to be featured in a SERIES with the "if i were president" title. it's political, if you can't tell.
