George Yeo fully understands that the Han Chinese despised the ruling Manchus. The Manchus routinely humiliated the Chinese. This led to an inferiority complex that led to opium and reluctant to fight the foreigners for the Manchu emperor. I can't see any tangible result. The corruption continues, even gets worse. The CCP have no problems dealing with corrupt dictators, so the people in general suffer. Look at the breakdown of South Africa, for instance. The examples you say to look at- Africa and South America- are hopeless cases which never seem to get better. Socialism, socialistic and communistic leaning governments are ruining these places, and CCP support is keeping corrupt rulers in position. This will not age well.

The issue with the BRI is it centres on loans to poor countries. Countries like the US and Australia provide aid.

We were part of the Chu and fought against the Qin, however, some of us have Han blood in us...I believe I have a bit of all. I’d like to visit Asia someday. There’s so much ignorance and hate here in America...I choose not to involve myself in it. It’s good to have faith in the time when you were born but I sometimes think how life would have been different had I been born in Asia. I respect Singapore to the core of my heart, Lee Kuan Yew was a great man and I don’t think he’d be very happy had he seen what has become of today’s world, as with Deng.
