Poirier's last camp before Makhachev was BSD another grappler, and Poirier was also training with Gamrot, and he never even tried guillotine vs Makhachev, he was more focused on defending the takedowns instead of trying a guillotine. Poirier was definitely better prepared and more experienced to fight vs Makhachev's wrestling compared to his previous Khabib fight.
That was a great quote by gsp, but khabib most likely told and prepared Islam for Poirier using that switch on him, considering Poirier tried that switch twice on khabib and it didn't work. But despite preparing for it it still worked on Islam, which says alot about khabib level of grappling and wrestling, he didn't know poirier was gonna use that technique but he still managed to shut it down twice... Khabib is the better wrestler grappler, Islam is the better striker and his offensive jijutsu is more very versatile and lethal. According to Poirier is stronger but Islam's squeeze was otherworldly strong, same thing with olivera the moment islam touched his neck oliviera was immediately tapping from the strength of the squeeze. Also about poirier even tho he was more expirience in this fight with Islam compared against khabib, khabib fought an absolute peak physically Poirier (he was 30 years old) after a win over max, where as Islam fought an older Poirier.
Khabib is uncomparable to any fighter because Khabib never lost never got cut never got dropped. Just pure domination and Islam is the student of Khabib and his father GOAT=29&ZIP.
It’s great to see GSP still fit and healthy with his head screwed on. To make it in such a difficult sport is one thing but to retire with a healthy brain and body is another.
I’m very much in line with everything GSP said. Some points to consider: 1. Comparing Islam’s grappling skill to Khabib’s based on their performance against Dustin is unfair. Khabib fought Dustin 5 years ago and Dustin never experienced that Dagestani wrestling before. He has been obsessed with trying to improve against it ever since. He didn’t overcome it, but Dustin is much better in defending compared to 2019. 2. Khabib is the better pressure fighter in terms of his relentless pursuit of a takedown. He will nonstop shoot until he gets it. Khabib’s ground and pound from top while maintaining control is better while Islam’s submission skills are superior. 3. Where Islam has significant advantages over Khabib is his striking. He doesn’t need to relentlessly pursue takedowns, he can stand and trade with the best of them. Dustin is one of the best strikers in the UFC in terms of grit and power and can put you away in any round and despite all that, Islam outstruck him everywhere and this INCLUDES the exchanges where Dustin’s hands weren’t low and they were actively exchanging. Islam was countering him very well. Some haters tried to discredit Islam bc he didn’t put him away earlier and bled. Imagine how superior you must be to everyone else for someone trying to criticize you for having blood the first time in the octagon. What’s funny is Dustin is the one that had more facial trauma. He also took criticism for not finishing Dustin earlier which is bonkers. Not only did Islam win every round, that ankle swivel takedown in round 5 when everyone is slippery and tired was a career highlight masterclass when you consider it then led to a D’Arce choke. An Islam that goes through adversity and gets a finish anyway is much more dangerous moving forward than an Islam that may have gotten a kimura in round 1 and quickly won. Everyone take notice, Islam IS that dude and will be in Mt. Rushmore convos of all-time greats moving forward.
@@jackdaniels2905 Well yeah, sure, it's been americanized through the generations, but at its origins, the name is French, with him being from Louisiana and all, same with Cormier.
Well newton was great in physics. Being great in physics and searching for God in universe are 2 different things. Often the great mind become sinister, which shows great mind and a nice spirit are differnet. Muslim too have great scientist and discoverers. Being Muslim, we want Gsp to embrace islam and be safe from hellfire. We are not forcing it upon him, we are praying from our God, same way christians try to spread their religion and ask from their god@ItsameAlex @@ItsameAlex
Why you muslims always trying to convert celebrities to islam when you like them. Dude is french canadian, there's no way he become muslim. (Doesn't mean he disrespect islam) but you are the only religion obsessed with converting everybody around you, it's scary
GSP is 100% spot on with that golf swing or sweep or whatever it's called that Islam pulled off. You watch that clip of Islam doing that move in slow mo and you can see Dustin was ready to throw his right hand and a second late from Makhachev, things could have gone differently but credit to Islam for taking a risk and doing that sweep in time
Correct, one analyst said Islam waited for Dustin to throw a punch so that he would be off balance which would help Islam to execute the move.. real tactical stuff there.
@@morpheus19 Yeah that's the point of this move it's a drill for when your opponent decides to take a swing you can swing the leg through since his balance is momentarily off
Hello Coach Zahavi I am a fan living in Korea and I am interested in MMA and I am working out hard to prepare for my fights. Recently, I am learning jiu-jitsu and studying with your videos, but there are so many videos, I am worried about where and how to start and how to watch them in order. I would like to ask you which video should I start with if I am a beginner in Jiu Jitsu and MMA and study with your video content? Thank you so much for all your videos😊
I love how islam was so smart on that gulf takedown. He waited that Dustin land his foot, as soon as has dusting set his foot, islam quickly did the gulf thing, truly high IQ move.
@@shboulato_crypt0504 No, watch it again, in slow mo, first he cant see the strike loading, second, he is clearly staring at his feet, and AS SOON AS it set on the ground, the foot, he immediatly start his technic, he is brillant.
In DPs first fight against Khabib he had no clue what he was about to go up against (in terms of grappling). For Islam, he knew and prepared accordingly but despite that he had very little resistance to Islams grappling (when Islam wanted to). That speaks volume about Khabib's and Islams' grappling skills. With that said, DP did a lot better than many thought.
nice comment from GSP on how risky the golf swing would be, because opponent might strike, but with Mackhachev, actually he waited until Porier lift his arm to strike, and at that point, Mackhachev did the swing. It shows high fight IQ

Also, you people try to enforce your liberal culture upon other countries, and then say we can't even pray for a guy from our God. What a hypocrite community you belong to , my friend. Disrespectful
Miss GSP in the octagon - MMA legend! I do believe right here, right now Islam is the P4P best MMA fighter in the world, and he is getting better - now that's scary!
We never fight the same fighter twice, but we may fight the same name twice. I’m so happy he mentioned that. Everyone wants to say Khabib is better than Islam bc he made Dustin look easier but we have to keep in mind that the Dustin Islam fought against had already fought against Khabib and Oliveira. His grappling has improved a lot from then to now. It’s not a solid comparison to me. With that said, Khabib is still probably better but I guess I just don’t like that reasoning.
The sound of the video is a bit too blown out. I'd suggest shooting somewhere quieter and turning off the wireless microphone dps sound dampening. It tend to make voices sound electronic.
Hi Coach 🫡 when i did hyper extension a coach told me just do half reps to keep the spine straight. I told him it is light weight and it is good for the spine to bend and to go all the way up and down. But now im confused what is right? Even the neck curls should i go all the way down and up?
