Ray Drew got arrested for exactly the same thing over and over decade. If Athens police were that worried about pedestrians then they would have shut that down back then. Drew was on a scooter.

I was in Athens a couple months ago and started to do exactly the same thing at 5:00 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon. It's packed with kids all around and a ton of all sorts of store signs. If I had not had to stop for all the pedestrians I probably would not have seen the one way sign. Athens is packed with one way streets and alleys. It's pretty easy to accidently turn on a one way street there. It actually requires a little experience to negotiate around Athens with skill.

Police protect politicians and serve them by collecting fees from citizenry. They dont have to protect and serve anyone else! They are allowed to lie to the public to gather enough info to charge . They aren't the giod guys they are made out to be .

I’ve drove down a one way plenty of times the wrong way during the day! It’s no excuse for me or him but it happens! Because when I read the take , I assumed he had more than what he had and did more than what was said but that’s why UGA loses so many recruits the coverage is wild!

Knew a cop in Tuscaloosa. I asked him how they dealt with football players. He said most traffic violations, particularly involving alcohol or drugs. They would have them park the car immediately and take them to where they were staying and tell them not to come back out until the next day. He did say they notified someone one with the football team. P.S. he said it was the best way to handle things if you wanted to keep your job 😮

i have seen dozens of people do this in Athens with the cops around and usually its just the cop telling them to turn around, no ticket no nothing. and if they were truly worried about the pedestrians, they would stop all the J walking that happens downtown and its not just the students its the adults as well, they will just walk right out Infront of you on a green light without a care in the world and the cops will just sit there and watch. hell they could prolly pay for the entire police dept just off j walking tickets they could be handing out.

There’s more to this than just driving the wrong way. I guarantee there was some words said and that’s when the arrest came.

There is no way he should have even been arrested. He should have been written a ticket and sent on his way. If they want to make a statement put a notice in the local papers stating the issue.
