“Top Of The Mountain”
My hike didn’t live up to its plan but It was definitely good to get back out there and hike
Lack of water and foggy first day hit me hard I honestly dont know why but the second day made up for it besides the fact my dog had a big cut on her paw
Which she is all better now
video was recorded using iPhone X

Enjoyed the video. Planning to do the loop (Lord willing) in October. You’ve encouraged me to start training for it a bit harder. I’ve heard it’s brutal. God Bless!

Won't hurt to give it a try and if you fail try again Lack of water was my biggest concern honesty but Oct could be different good luck

Maybe the title should be Georgia Loop attempt? I was hoping you made it all the way through and could say something about water sources on the DRT and BMT. I've been partway down that trail and I think you missed at least one water source, maybe two. There should have been water near the road crossing on 180 at Wolfpen Gap, I think down to the left on your way outbound. There's also a water source at White Oak Stomp. It was flowing in August when I was there, but if you stopped on top of Coosa Bald you didn't quite get there. It would have been less than a mile further at the bottom of the hill where the trail hits the road. Of course, hard as it was raining, you could have funnelled runoff from your tent, too, LOL. Cheers.

Looks like you had an awesome hike even despite the weather and not going according to plan! I just finished the Georgia Loop yesterday and it’s great! Definitely go back one day with better weather! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Nico Leis, I'm about to attempt the loop and would appreciate anything you can tell me about water on the DRT portion. If you happen to read this, you can find my email address on my own RU-vid page. I'm familiar with White Oak Stomp and was there in August, but I don't know about Mulky Gap or any other sources on that part of the loop. Many thanks.

Too bad you didn't the awesome view at Presachers Rock, but hiking in the fog is fun as well. You should hike from Woody to Neel Gap and catch a shuttle back. This is an awesome day hike, or overnighter if you have a bear canister. Just subbed!

Hey bro. I like your video. I live in Dawsonville and hike that area often. Through hiked in 99. Duncan ridge is no joke. Good on you for making it. Don’t sweat turning around. My dad always said “the Trail ain’t going nowhere, it’ll be there next time”. You’ll get it

I saw in another video you had to put your dog down, I'm really sorry about that, man. That's the thing about dogs, you know one day they're going to break your heart. I actually came to say, if you're going to be doing any more hiking with dogs, please feel free to reach out for some tips. There are some good Facebook pages and some good experience out there. I'm saying this because I saw how your dog was carrying the pack and there was some concern there. No judgments, we all start somewhere. My guy's probably got close to 500 mi in now on backpacking trips. Beyond that...not sure if you tackled this trail again, but it's a good one. Hike on...
