I saw in another video you had to put your dog down, I'm really sorry about that, man. That's the thing about dogs, you know one day they're going to break your heart. I actually came to say, if you're going to be doing any more hiking with dogs, please feel free to reach out for some tips. There are some good Facebook pages and some good experience out there. I'm saying this because I saw how your dog was carrying the pack and there was some concern there. No judgments, we all start somewhere. My guy's probably got close to 500 mi in now on backpacking trips. Beyond that...not sure if you tackled this trail again, but it's a good one. Hike on...
Yeah I'm currently looking for a different backpack for my new dog And looking at different things to help with my dog whether it's improve her comfort or just safety And I do not turn away any tips when it pertains to hiking, whether it's for my dog or myself Feel free to message me with any concerns you have. I might learn something
Thanks so much for a great video - very helpful!! My husband and I are planning on doing the BFT next month. Can you provide a link or more info on the red coil you wore to keep the bugs away? Thanks again!!! Happy Trails 😊
Thanks appreciate it This video is when I first started hiking I haven't used one of those red coil in a while now However, I can say that the Black Forest trail was one of the trails that mosquitoes bugged me to death I plan to do this trail again. Maybe in fall I recommend you wear something breathable but long sleeves But the red coil your referring to it's meant to be worn around the wrist, however, the mosquitoes were bothering my face I pack a face bug net now but I haven't used it But here's the link You was asking for they sell them at the dollar store. a.co/d/aoejixh
Just came across your video. Great job! Me and my hubby are hiking Art Loeb/MST/Big East Fork, up to Black Balsam Knob, and Tennet Mt. I am a vet tech. There is paw pad balm, you can put on your dog's paws, for extra protection. The booties are also a great idea, if she'll wear them. 😊
Yes thanks I was thinking about it however sadly my dog got cancer and had surgery but never recovered to full health But I will be using them on my new dog
Great video bud How is your dog doing now hopefully she's okay Also those free standing tents are good just gotta to set it up you might be putting trekking pole in wrong The pointy part of the handle gotta be pointing towards the inside of the tent that's what happen to me also it seemed like you had some slack hope this works for you
Yea my dog is doing good next trip she will have some dog booties And yes while editing the video I noticed I could have made the tent a little more tighter
Looks great! Me and a few buddies are doing the Colbert Ridge to Mt Mitchell 8.9 mile hike and the Black Mountain Crest hike. About 20 miles total and we are sleeping out there as well. Any recommendations on gear that you would absolutely recommend? Also, I didn't want to dress too warm or underdress as well.
Yea I would definitely dress warmer bring layers from what I heard and experienced temperature there are usually a lot colder Bring a good warm sleeping bag to I did get a bit cold I had my fall early winter sleeping bag with me
Hi Nick. Beautiful scenery and rapids. nice to see you hiking again. My husband and I use to hike at Bushkill falls almost every October. I am waiting for the snow on top of the mountain 😀
Thanks for sharing this video of your backpaking adventure. Lovely. Where I live here on the top of the mountain, I love having a lovely walk in the forest. Please visit my Channel and Subscribe if you like the content. Cheers
Most relaxing video I’ve seen in a long time makes me want to get out there and take the hike. Hopefully I’ll be greeted by Chewbacca lol. I would definitely be sleeping by there stream.
Glad both you and your wife recovered from covid. It's a shame you had to go through that. Glad you brought us out here for an overnighter. Enjoyed having you get us caught up with how things are going for you and that you're able to be back out in nature.
Enjoyed the video. Planning to do the loop (Lord willing) in October. You’ve encouraged me to start training for it a bit harder. I’ve heard it’s brutal. God Bless!
Nice looking views from the top brother! I go to school at Western Carolina so we are fairly close if you ever want to get a hike in together, I know the area pretty well. Hope you are enjoying being down this way from up North brother!
