I love the G-Man but he ain’t beating Toney. I believe Toney would have too much for him. He was a fighter who could do it all and crucially do it for 12 rounds. McClellan is one of my faves of all time, he was incredibly powerful and had a granite chin but I believe he had a stamina problem as he admitted he often tried to stop the fight in the early rounds. As G-Man stated ‘why stand there for 12 when I can get it done in 1’. And he was very successful at that which is evident by his record in 1st round knockouts. But Toney is one of the few fighters who was elusive enough to evade G-mans best shots and even if he got caught I believe he would have been capable of taking it as Toney is no joke in the granite chin department. I reckon it would have been a late stoppage or a points victory for Toney. But both were great middleweights and it was an absolute tragedy how G-mans career ended.
@@mahadkamran5914 it is possible that occurred. The G-man’s left hook to the liver would have stopped a heavyweight. He knew how to throw that body shot, with leverage, speed and power. Next level power.
He says Toney called him out, first. That would have been a great fight; their sparring sessions were incredible. That said, I think Toney would have handled McClellan comfortably.
The sparring video of these two was the second day of sparring. The first day of sparring it was reported that Gerald dropped toney with a body shot. One of don king's workers who also use to hang around at the kronk gym told me this on twitter.
That's fascinating. I wonder if there's more footage out there; I can believe Gerald's hook to the liver could put anyone down. And thanks for your work on this channel, RoidWatch. Both informative AND hilarious!
I gonna stop this nonsense once and for all McClellan called Tony and Roy Jones out and they BOTH dodged him McClellan spared with Toney and Roy Jones and they felt his power and they wanted NO PART of him and that is the TRUTH!!!
Toney lost twice as middleweight champ versus Reggie Johnson and lost by a mile to Dave Tiberi. Those were crooked calls - I was at the Johnson fight and Reggie shaded him by 2 rounds - 3 points with a two point round for the knockdown. Tiberi beat him all over the ring, winning 9 rounds. Toney's hot little manager set those decisions up. But he would have defeated Gerald.
I love Gerald, its amazing to see him today still alive and happy, god bless his sister who has done unbelievable work all these years! As far as the fight goes um the biggest James Tony fan so i believe Toney would have won james was the most skilled boxer ive ever seen.
I don't believe for an actual millie second that James Tony could deafeat a prime Gerald McClellan with Emmanuel steward in his corner McClellan would've knocked him out with a left hook to the body or a lead right hand to the head McClellan possessed the most Thunderous velocity & power with an iron chin with his kronk style fundermentals he was very accurate long range sniper
@@spirit1082 Everyone thinks they can take a punch until they meet Mcclelan. There is a reason he is a top 30 P4p puncher of all time when his career ended at only 27.
@@spirit1082 Thats the point, Mcclelan did punch harder than many heavyweights. He lost to those journeymen and then improved to the point that he was unstoppable, no middleweight on the earth can beat Mcclelan under manny. Didnt Toney get slapped around by roy jones? No one has ever done that to Mcclelan.
@@spirit1082 Mcclelan dropped toney in sparring with a body shot. You need to remember the fight would happen at middleweight so Toney wont have a heavyweight advantage. He got smashed by jones at middleweight.
@@mahadkamran5914 Gerald did not drop Toney with a body shot in sparring. Is there something you saw and no one else did even at the KronK Gym ? From the video I saw, Gerald tried to take Toneys head off and that never worked in his favor.
@@vlLEGTxSQUADX A chin wouldn't have stopped him from getting outboxed. Toney in his prime could beat anyone. He wasn't in his prime against Roy Jones Jr
