@@stephanielekas583It's not about it being clean imo. I'm sure there are clean comedians today. The issue now is political correctness. This would be seen as highly offensive. Ppl are so anal about everything. If you want to take away making fun of stereotypes, that means you should wipe cartoons OUT. Things are cherry-picked in what is offensive. White straight people cannot say anything? Isn't it natural for someone straight to be uncomfortable with something gay upfront? They can do what they want but I don't want to watch. I am also a bit formal. In other words, I do not want to tolerate my friends having sex right next to me. Get a room.
Ain’t that the truth….. I watch television very rarely these days. I was a kid watching Flip Wilson and I used to mimic him. My parents were laughing so hard!!!! Good Times!
Nowadays, if you act like he did doing his Geraldine, people would be screaming that he’s racist!! But Flip was black, so people would be screaming that his guests were racist for being white!
Flip was hilarious, an these guys was on the edge of losing it in this skit. Good memories , an awesome comedy is the legacy of flip Wilson. U couldn’t watch his skits without cracking up.
I have it album to. Bought it many many years ago that's one of my all-time favorites. Flip Wilson was one of the all-time greatest comedians. I sure miss him
Hee-hee. Our nephew was given the Flip Wilson doll for a Christmas present. We made fun of it when he brought it to a family get together. Then we started to pull the string. We wore it out. "If I had known you were coming, I would have stayed home." or "I smell a fish and the wind is coming from your direction." Loved Flip Wilson, Tim Conway.
Always loved how Geraldine made it clear there are boundaries and don’t cross them. And always appreciated that Flip, a guy dressed as a woman got it, said it and kept saying it. RIP and know you are still missed 💐
I have post this before But you know Flip Wilson was Great Actor and he was a very Handsome man but when he plays Geraldine Jones 😂 she is a Very Attractive Lady 🌹 RIP Flip Wilson And Miss Geraldine Jones 🕊️❤️🕊️ Missing ya
Ahh back when you could smoke everywhere. Tv shows when Johnny Carson did it all the time. Airplanes were equipped with ashtrays. Heck I can even remember when you could buy Tylenol with Codeine over the counter!
I love Flip Wilson! He was so funny--and didn't use foul language and vulgarities. Genuinely a very funny man who was so underrated. I used to watch his show and really enjoyed it. I don't think he ever got the recognition he so richly deserved as a superb comedian. Someone who seems like he was a great guy in real life.
I can really relate to the Outfits that was worn back then.. They're back NOW... He was just Hilarious.. Also...he had major celebrities on each of his skits...
Geraldine had all the latest fashions and expensive boots many women would’ve given their right eye for. It wasn’t technically integral to the character. I wonder who it was that insisted on Geraldine’s wardrobe being so hip.
< still can't believe that Burt turned down Sally Field, married Loni Anderson, divorced Loni, and years later, when he was old and broken down, tried to win Sally back over. she didn't take the tired, old, worn out bait.
@@poohbearsauntie At one point he was the top box office draw in America and obviously hugely successful but he enjoyed himself a I little too much ,just because women throw themselves at you ,it doesn't mean you should catch them , especially if you're not single ...
Good grief. You told a lie. The thinking is simply, don't put adult humor, including drag queens in front of children. Allow them to keep their innocence.
LOL We don't want those perverts around our kids! Have you actually seen those "shows" or at least photos from them? It's nothing REMOTELY like a Flip Wilson character.
Back then, for a man to impersonate a woman was strictly for comic effect. There was a time when women weren't allowed to perform on stage, preteen boys played female parts. Flip was arrow straight.
@@michelefritchie6198 BELIEVE ME I KNOW..🤨.. I was raised in the 60's and '70's .Crossdressing was something actors did in a comedy sketch..and nothing more than that. If you talked about 'Trans' We wouldn't have had a clue what you were talking about ....🙄.You've got to learn to recognize a joke when you see it...🤷😅
Funny how no one freaked out about drag when it was Flip Wilson who did it. How about Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon and bob Hope and on and on . Drag was a not big deal, what is it now. OH the GOP is full of hate. that is the difference.
