I caught wind of this blade in a email from Gerber and decided why not. The Gerber Ayako is here on the channel. It fits really awesome in pocket, just wish the blade steel was a bit better.

This knife is great. I had one I used to carry daily and lost but for what it cost its really nice and better quality than most knives at this price point.

Purchased this from Amazon for my daughter who wanted an EDC knife and she loves hers for all the uses she has. I bought one for myself and for New Jersey carry works out pretty good and no issues. It got loose after a bit but with my ifixit kit, good as new. The thumb hole is not for initial opening but mid opening it. After sharpening it, retains a great edge. Not a bad budget edc knife.

Nice budget knife, like the look and pocket feel. Have arthritis in hands, so not a fan of the opening fumble. I saw it listed some where as "friction" opener, and is a quick open against the thigh after coming out of the pocket. Boker auto remains fav EDC.

I also thought the blade was a tonto but the blade has a curve at the at the turning point and is not a direct corner so it’s technically not a tonto blade but I got cause I love tonto blades and it’s the closest knife that is a dutiable tonto pocket knife knife. Also I love your vids and humor.

Dear sir 1st. The first time you pronounced was the right way. 2ndthe tip style is a slightly modified Japanese tanto. Gerber almost made it into a chisel tip 😔 which is a shame, seeing it now is less appealing than before. Im looking for a "true" Japanese tanto folder. Thanks for the video

To open something like that, use the side of your index finger. I cringe at everyone who tries to used their thumb, I can flick it open with my index finger in one go. Just a helpful tip :)

Solid video. But for some bonuses. Some editing to show the knife details. Blade steel type, blade length. That’s kinda stuff. And links in the description to where your can buy it. (Make an amazon Affiliate like and you get a cut) and some size comparisons with some popular knifes. Just some thoughts

I love your videos although I do recommend doing the hair test it really dose well showing how sharp and how fine the sharpness may be that the paper test can’t show I got got the same knife and I got it for the same reason

I picked one up with gold handles.. after opening and closing it a 100 times I can just flick it open with a quick loose wrist flip...

Remindes me of their katanas. A miniature version of the small sword the samurai pigybacked with their long sword. Movies mostly depict them using it for honorable suicide instead of self defence though? Lol. Idk. Always though they made simple as blades wicked as hell somehow. 🤪

The opening and closing got better for me after a month or so of use, but the middle joint is now loose on mine and the blade is very wobbly. I don't know how to fix this issue.

after maybe a week of use my AYAKO is wobbling like crazy, is there any fix to this? I'm this close to hammering down on the bearing to see if it'll tighten up, kind of annoying I've barely used this knife and I spent $29.99 on it

gerber advertised this as a totally different looking knife. so i just ordered one on a whim, then i got one with a long flipper, less tanto looking blade, and a stiff impossible open. this was a waste of money. cheap pocket jewelry. i'll find a place to put it and make it look pretty lol.

That is one goofy knife. Seems to cut ok so I won’t call it an F-Bomb but the overall design of it just kills any chance of it ever being in my pocket
