Well when this model Gerber came out. Black and Decker jig saw shanks were standard. Wasn't until later that Bosch came out with the T-Shank, which is a better style. Perfectly functional as an EDC saw blade. My blade retainer snapped off recently. Over 25 years of service. Can't complain. I requested parts from Gerber and they sent me the current revised model with no jig saw blade retainer. I got a new multi tool free of charge with a new sheath. Good deal. I will fix my Gerber myself. I got my $50 worth out of it. It would be nice if Gerber came out with a new Centerdrive with scissors AND a T-Shank blade adapter. My first Gerber has a combo serrated blade, full 3D P2 Philips, medium flat with bottle opener, mini flat, fiskars scissors, can opener, rem grit b&d style jig saw blade, and a full length file. Pretty much all the tools you need in a bind as an American.

@@diezelle57 So the new replacement, no longer made in Portland Oregon. Has a much better sheath. Onboard tools are a plain blade, medium flat with bottle opener, large flat, small flat, full sized file, serrated blade, lanyard hole, full 3D P2, can opener. Lacks fiskars brand scissors and the jigsaw blade adapter. Stampings on frame were changed. New pliers have more defined stampings. U.S.A. logo removed on new model as it is not a USA product anymore. Plier lock buttons changed slightly. New plier heads have better match up and tooth alignment. Manufacturing defects are present on new model. Only cosmetic but apparent. Overall, improvements were made and complex tools were eliminated. My model would be the MP600 Pro Scout. I sent a picture for warranty on the jigsaw blade adapter. I didn't want to send mine in. They would likely replace it and not repair it. The website has the MP600 which has the tools that they sent me for $65. What I have is the MP600 Pro Scout which is $67. All these models on the Gerber website say they are made in USA. Warranty replacement is assembled in USA of global components. Combo blade on mine has different geometry from the new Pro Scout. So, the jigsaw model with scissors is still available. Warranty response seems to have overlooked the image I sent and went with the only model number I could find. MP600.

@@mackjones7688 Yes but the jigsaw blade holder has never been modified and this is the incredible problem I was reporting.

@@diezelle57 I wouldn't call it a problem so much as a cost-saving decision. As I said. The original design was conceived before the T-Shank design was invented. You can still find some of these blades in the states if you look. While I agree that they should make a T-Shank adapter and update the design. That costs money and the U-Shank blade adapter is lower profile than a T-Shank adapter. Easier to fit in a chassis. Blades are small and easy to carry so if you can find them. They are still convenient. Simple search on Amazon or Grainger has many affordable U-Shank replacements available in multi-packs for around $11.99.

@@mackjones7688 I find you very accommodating with GERBER. As I show in the video, the problem is not only with the U-shank profile but with the thickness of the blades that the blade holder can accept. The Rengrit saw is woefully bad. So give me a link where we can find millimeter thick U-shank jigsaw blades. GERBER has been selling MP600s without modifying its blade holder for more twenty years, I don't see what could excuse this stupid stubbornness and disrespect for its customers. LEATHERMAN has modified the blade holder of the Surge! Another pathetic example: GERBER never supplied the removable inserts for the Strata wire cutter, ever! And the Strata was still in its catalog last year! Let's move on to the Armbar, GERBER will never agree to put a lock for the deplorable bit holder. Etc.

What you need to know also is the spring clip Snaps off after multiple uses. You then can’t drill and tap the hole for a grub screw because it’s titanium. It burns your drill bits out and will snap all your taps. You can’t buy the clip as a spare part from Gerber and fix your beloved Multi tool. They send you out a Brand New replacement! Some people might appreciate this and it’s a generous offer from Gerber. However it doesn’t feel the same in your hand. You have to spend another 12 months wearing it in.

@Unrealtechn0 Finding jigsaw blades that fit (shank and thickness) the GERBER blade holder becomes very difficult. Sometimes I look in the stores but there are only T-blades left ... Anyway, I give up.
