Attempting to drive left sector is only going to contribute to a huge diversion of forces at the front (i.e. you'll go left, the discus has to come around back right). Vesteinn teaches a very rotational approach to throwing, you drive right sector line and land towards the center to throw the discus. This is very later on on Gerds career whereas when he was throwing 70m plus, it was a lot easier to see that he didn't drive left sector.
