As a kid it never even occured to me how sad this short really is... when you get down to it, it's simply a story of what so many among the elderly feel on an everyday basis: crushing loneliness and the necessity to somehow cope with it.

Wow the level of perfection is fantastic with this. The camera angles are impressive. The musical adaptation, even the background sounds. Fantastic acting as well. :)
2:24 I think that part is the funniest because of the face he makes and along the noise he makes too. The fact they used an actual senior citizen is awesome.
I first saw the original animation when I was a teenager. I play chess myself and loved it. This adaptation os absolutely what I had been waiting for. Its perfect.
