It is said during 1800, as techniques were not developed to grow viruses, it failed to explain. But theoretically the Koch's postulates can be applied to viral diseases too. As per the third postulate, the organism should cause same disease when introduced into a healthy human body, but it may not happen due to acquired immunity.

@Keanu Threeves How's the definitions of theory different? You didn't explain. We can't explain any of those with concrete evidence. Thats why they are scientific theories. Like gravity we can observe but we have no idea what it is. We can't replicate it. Same with string theory, evolution theory etc. But germs are observed and can easily be tested.
