@@lennoxlewerenz1366 naja, jetzt übertreib mal nicht. That's only you opinion. Olaf is not long enough in office to judge that, he hasn't done anything major wrong or right yet. Worst one takes the one with the particular mustache and second maybe Ludwig Erhard or Kurt Georg Kiesinger
@@Kugelschrei yeah you are right. But you can see the way he talks how he presents himself bodylanguage whise etc. He knows he ain't making major decisions here. He doesn't say what he stands for in interviews and how he talked to putin. He sat there like a coward with his hands and feet while putin sat there legs opened and relaxed. He and our secretary of defense just leave me speechless
@@lennoxlewerenz1366 Yes he doesn't have the sparkling charisma of Trump, Boris Johnson or Putin, but I don't think that is a bad thing, as long as the political agenda fits and decisions are made that suit the situation and satisfy the people, our values and the economy. Politics have become too much of a playground for entertainment lately. It's presentation over content nowdays, not a healthy development but I assume in times of social media this attitude takes over for the worse. Yet I agree, he has a lot to learn still presentation-wise.
@@solomioist Of course you're right, but let's appreciate that by "president" he probably means the politically de-factor most important / powerful person of the respective country. Not everybody knows the setup of different countries, and given that foreign countries hardly concerned by the German president, I can forgive him his mistake :-).
Saw the US Sedan Service logo on one of those vehicles, never saw it before so thought that it was some kinda Government funded thing. Turns out it’s a privately owned luxury transport company.🙃
Disrespectful treatment of the chancellor when he opted to use Mercedes s class vehicles for his travel. Why does the secret service insist of uncomfortable hardware/family SUVs rather than proper sedans.
@@penguinsixshorts I don't think it is. Nearly every European leader is given a suburban regardless of what car they use back at home. The german chancellor even here, when some middle eastern leaders have S class cars in Washington.
@@FrecciaNeraM36 Do you have a problem with Middle Eastern leaders using a S class? Maybe their ppl demand it and the Europeans are more shy. Why should the secret service / white house treat Europeans better than the Arabs who been more loyal allies in the last 50 years.
Die S Klasse passt nicht in die A350. Außerdem haben die Amis da so nen Tick komplett zu übertreiben wenn’s um Sicherheit geht, also fahren sie gern in ihren eigenen Wagen
I was wondering what's interesting about a German Chancellor's motorcade in the states. Nothing. Except one thing I noticed, watching the police vehicles/bikes. What's the thing about those bikes with " Beiwagen" (sorry, I don't have the English term at hand right now)?
I think you mean "sidecars"--the thing on the side. They aren't used for passengers but are added to give stability to the motorcycles on ice and snow. They will remove them in about a month.
"Golden Triangle" is the business improvement district for that part of town. A BID is private group that is funded by the various business in the area to help clean and maintain the streets in this area of town. goldentriangledc.com
I will never understand the motorcade concept. Let's "protect" someone by parading them around and using the lights and sirens to announce to the entire area that they're here.
There are two things to distinguish: 1.) The actual security motorbikes: They're perfect to rush forward (ahead of the actual cade), block an intersection until the cade arrives and then repeat. So the way is always cleared and the crate does not need to stop (stopping being the biggest security risk for a cade) 2.) The formal motorbike-cade (the one driving directly in front of the dignitary in a triangle shape): It's a matter diplomatic protocol (at least in Germany): - 15 Bikes: Head of States during State visit - 7 Bikes: Head of States during unofficial visits; Chairmen / Presidents of Parliaments and Head of Government during official visits - American - working
these motorcades do have a purpose. For example blocking signals etc. Maybe just take a deep breath before commenting the next time assuming there were some folks at the same point as you were thinking about what's the best way to make sure a foreign leader will make it through washington unharmed
It‘s crazy to see how much of a big deal Americans make out of Olafs presence. Meanwhile in Germany he can (but he of course doesn’t) walk freely on the streets and no one would bother him or put him in danger. But I think in America the safety measures are way more higher than in Europe bc everyone and their mother has access to guns and dangerous weapons. So it makes all sense
Most US government buildings in Washington DC have a centralized heating system, with steam being generated at a dedicated building and pumped via pipes throughout the city. Sometimes the steam escapes and that's what you see. The system is very old and inefficient, but still in use.
Big show??? Have you seen the US president when he is abroad? That's a big fu**ing show... EDIT: German politicians are pretty chill when it comes to protective services. They usually only have a few body guards and/or an armored vehicle, some take public transport or a bike... Some even travel with normal airliners like Lufthansa or Eurowings in economy or business class (I work at an airport in Germany and boarded a few German politicians). Some of them fly casually without any protection, some are accompanied with two or three policemen within the airport or have personal bodyguards with them - all depending on, I assume, how high of an political position they have and whether they request it or not. Travelling abroad might be different. They probably don't get to chose their security detail (or lack thereof), because the country they are in is now responsible for their safety. Depending on the country, own security personal might not be acreddited to work (or limited, like not allowed to carry firearms etc...), so the country has to provide sufficiant protection - all of course based on a risk assessment... And with the president of the US, that is pretty much considered super-dooper-ultra-high, no matter where he is... Other country leaders might not have that high of a security risk.
This was filmed at 17th and Pennsylvania NW, the edge of the White House grounds and there are plenty of buildings around here. Here is the google street view from where I was standing. goo.gl/maps/RiUsfyAvMSMByRT3A
Gold fringe means the Country has Surrendered... Just like how America has 3 flags... The flag of Peacetime is blue stars, white background with vertical stripes. The second flag is the flag of war... Or what we know as "old glory"... The third flag is the flag of Surrender which is "old glory" with yellow fringe and tassles... This flag has been flown at all State and Federal Buildings ever since Lincoln turned the United States of America into the Socialist Corporation called UNITED STATES.... You think the civil war was fought over slavery??? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😁... Ever wonder why your name is all CAPS on Legal and Government documents???? Like your "Berth" Certificate... America has only flew the flag of Peacetime for 3 years since 1776...... 😘
