BierTier explains EVERY VENT/GEYSER/VOLCANO!
I figured it is time to make my own version of a every vent, geyser, and volcano tamer series. In Pt.4 we are going over the HOT POLLUTED OXYGEN VENT, the OIL RESERVOIR, and INFECTIOUS POLLUTED OXYGEN VENT(once with a Clay output, once with an automated Kiln for Ceramic production)! Once again, those builds are extremely powerful! Watch now and see how it's done...
As always, if you enjoy the video please give it a LIKE and subscribe to the BierTier - German Engineer channel, and enable notifications so you can be the first to know when a new video is released! Thanks!

ABOUT OXYGEN NOT INCLUDED:
In the space-colony simulation game Oxygen Not Included you’ll find that scarcities of oxygen, warmth, and sustenance are constant threats to your colony's survival. Guide colonists through the perils of subterranean asteroid living and watch as their population grows until they're not simply surviving, but thriving...
Build Extensive Bases and Discover What it Takes to Survive:
Everything in your space colony is under your control, from excavation and resource allocation right down to plumbing and power systems. Resources will begin depleting with your first breath, however, so be sure to dig fast if you want to live.
Avoid Boiling with Thermodynamics:
Temperature control is a constant concern in space; too cold and you'll freeze, too hot and you'll fry. Keep tabs on ambient environmental temperatures and your colony's heat production to maintain a nice, cozy atmosphere for your colonists.
Enhance Efficiency through Complex Gas and Liquid Simulations:
Create interlocking pipe systems to swiftly deliver fuel and liquid to critical areas of your base. Plan well and be rewarded as your colony transforms into an imperishable, well-oiled machine.
Take Charge with Power Grid Simulations:
Choose from a multitude of power sources including coal, hydrogen, natural gas, or just plain old elbow grease. Manage power runoff, circuit overloads, and meltdowns to keep your colony running smoothly.

The Oil Reservoir has the potential to break! If you have a Dupe do the venting that has a low skill in Operating machines, the whole process will take enough time to boil the water inside the well and you get Steam. It is safer to either rescrict the access to the well or build it submerged in 1-2 layers of oil to prevent this. Cereamic piping and a Tempshift plate can also help.

That is true, that could be the case. Didn't consider that, thanks! I guess I'd just set the Backpressure value lower and empty it more often or restrict the access to a single dupe.

For the hot polluted oxygen vent, should I add a mesh tile between airflow tile and poxygen purifier (with some liquid like crude oil, petrolium)

Just want to make sure that no poxygen gonna mess up my colony

It’s really not needed, I had it running for almost 100 cycles without any issues. As long as the deodorizers have sand you’ll be fine. You could add an element sensor for your pump if you want to be even safer, but again, not really needed. I’m happy that you enjoy the series 😊

So glad for the Oxygen explanations since it doesn't come with the game.

If you have thermium, I'd guess that you can put metal or diamond tiles above the hot polluted oxygen vent, and have a steam room above that with a steam turbine above that. The gas pump made of thermium would be in the vent room and only pump out gas once it's cooled down below a certain temperature to a room with deodorizes made of ceramic. Finally, the resulting less hot oxygen gets pump to something like an oxylite refinery where one might not care so much about temperature. That might be power positive, since an aquatuner wouldn't be needed, though I don't know for sure. Such a system might work pre-thermium without an aquatuner, if the hot polluted oxygen gas has some room to funnel through before it gets pumped out, though I don't know how long of a funnel one would want. If the steam room has crude oil to soak up the heat at the bottom instead of steam, it might not even need a steel gas pump and gold amalgam might suffice. Anyways, always good to see different sorts of tamers!

I like the idea! I may make different tamers with more advanced materials later, but currently I'm trying to stay at steel and below. Non of my current builds should require any space materials :)

@@BierTier I got the funnel idea from here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DHDu8yGQeYg.html That's a pre-steel hydrogen vent tamer.

is there even a way for slimelung on clay to end up mattering? The only solid it wont naturally die off on is slime, and it cant get onto gasses from there?
@BierTier
@BierTier 2 года назад
If you handle it fully automated, it doesn’t matter at all, especially in an Oxygen environment . I’m usually rather safe than sorry and want to make sure my builds definitely don’t cause trouble down the line :)

You can build farm tiles from clay, and I think plants can inherit germs from the tiles they're planted on. I suppose in principle, you could take that slimelung through the path clay→tile→plant→food→rot→polluted O2. That's some serious lack of care required on the player's part, though!

My favorite game of all time. It is so fun think I'm well over 500 hours. So, many playthroughs even though some aspects can seem same/same from one playthrough to another - the variety in asteroids environments and vent/geyser placement changes enough to keep things very interesting. You can go into each game with a plan, but, always be ready to adjust. For me I guess my favorite part is watch plans come together, and the dupes are the best virtual ant farm around very relaxing.

Is hot polluted oxygen vent even worth it? Considering energy expenditure - it is easier to just seal it forever. 1,5 dupes worth of oxygen for 1000+ power - absolute waste unless I am missing something...
@BierTier

Is it worth it? Probably not. Is it easier to seal it? Definitely. But is it sometimes fun to do something because you can? I would argue, yes, it is :) I tamed a Infectious Polluted Oxygen Vent in my current Let's Play on my second planetoid. It was a fun little project to do in a real game if nothing else :)
