We are making our way up "north" from South Carolina on our US east coast road trip! 🚗 Being from Germany, Phil was surprised by a few things regarding infrastructure, cities and universities! 🚧🏫🚦 Did anything in this video surprise you?

Who should come to New England! New England is a northeastern region of the United States comprising the states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. It's known for its Colonial past, Atlantic coastline, changing autumn foliage and forested mountains. Boston, Massachusetts, the region’s hub, pre-dates the American Revolution, and its Freedom Trail passes sites that were critical to the nation’s founding.

I’m surprised Phil didn’t realize that most College & University campuses in the US are gorgeous with nice architecture (old & contemporary), great museums, nice sports facilities, and lots of green space / gardening. Where does he think all that tuition money goes!? 😂 Princeton University (Ivy League school) in the town I grew up has an annual endowment of $26.6billion……. and it goes up just about every year. That’s roughly $3,159,520.13 per student per year 😅…hence why Princeton is essentially a “pay what you can” university. Anyway, come visit my boyfriend and I in Brooklyn!

You picked one of the most beautiful neighborhoods to walk through in Raleigh. Most of those homes are over 100 years old built from about 1850's to 1940's. Motorcycle Helmets are required in NC. That Church on Duke campus is called Duke Chapel. A Methodist church. It is so beautiful inside and out.

I'm a truck driver in Utah and there is tyre debris on the side of the highway here as well. Most of it looks like commercial vehicle tires. The rear tires are typically retreads then that peel off or explode because the driver may not have watched the condition of their tires.

The tricycle thing is called a slingshot. You can find them for sale at motorcycle places. In the mountains of north Carolina you can rent them. Popular near the NC/ Tennessee border. If you go from Cherokee, NC to Gatlinburg Tennessee. Best way to go is over the parkway. At the top of mountain near Clingmans dome is a pullover. You can straddle the NC/ Tennessee state line. At the other end of parkway leads you straight into Gatlinburg Tennessee. From there a lot of people go to Pigeon Forge. Home of Dolly Parton and her theme park Dollywood. Lots of things to do.

Trucks tend to blow tires like that and because they have so many they don't necessary need to be replaced right away. They do clean them up but there are just a lot of trucks in the US so they can't clean them all up immediately.

Yeah I heard that around 100 people in total went missing and 19 people died. It was very bad in a city just 7km away from me and my own city was halfway closed so people wouldn't drive their car into the flooded area + they had issues with the waterworks from the flood so they put on a emergency reserve of water and asked citizen to refrain from using water if possible since they can't deliver as much water now as we might use. It was pretty crazy tho

"mennonite" are not uncomon in Germany so he would allready know these people. I hope you refer to the same people as I do because in Germany these people are a Christian minority where women wear skirts all around the year and are not allowed to do makeup or cut their hair and they read the bible all the time like at least once a week and stuff. They also sometimes tend to have big families. I was friend to a girl who's family is and she invited me to her bday as I was 8 or so and her stepmom made us read the bible for 1 full hour. I also had a girl in my class who has 11 sisters and 1 brother and she was heavly against her familie's religious belives so she menaged to get them to let her do whatever she wants or else she wouldn't be happy and so she allways wore pants as the only one in her family and got a haircut as the only one in her family. My town also had a church for them. I hope if its really the same kind of religion than we have those people in Germany or else I'm sorry if I thought of something else with a similiar name

Growing up in California, the highways in the south and Midwest always seemed slightly foreign to me. The highways in California are more compact. They don’t have those big grassy medians or grass embankments on the side, at least by the coast. Interstates in the Central Valley do have those big medians but that’s it. I’m shocked at all the tires and other crap on the road. At least in the part of California I live in, you would not see big pieces litter like that on the road. You might see a plastic bag or a few cigarette butts. Maybe it’s different in other parts of California

I'm pretty sure you can put an entire car together with all the crap parts on the side of the road, if you keep driving long enough. It won't run, but it will be a full car.

Route 66 is incredibly overrated. I prefer Interstate 10 that runs through southern New Mexico and Arizona.
