This song is a drumming beast live. Drummer Murata tam goes to town on this song written by the bass player Haraguchi san and lyrics by Hazuki the other lead guitarist.
I took no offense to your use of the word "oriental". I knew what you meant and what you were referring to. I do appreciate your explanation. On a lighter note, a very cool reaction video! This song is one of my favorites by Nemophila. Rock On!
Love the song, written by Haraguchi-san with lyrics by Hazuki. I like that todays choice of solo instrument is drums too - go Tamu! 😊 Oriental is an old term (first seen in the 12th century) and I think you’re right that today it means different things and different regions to different people, although it actually simply means “from the East”. I’m interested to know if anyone does actually find it offensive, or if they’ve ever read the book “Orientalism” which tried to attach the word to the west’s patronizing representation of the East. Up until then (1978) it seems no one had been complaining or attributing those connotations to the word. 🤷🏻♂️ Wokism has been around a while….
If you like the Nu-metal vibes you're going to love Hoozuki, their latest release. I'd describe Hypnosis as "middle eastern sound". I didn't even know that "oriental" could be seen as offensive... soon we'll be banned from saying anything that has anything to do with origin.
It's a shame we have to double check every word we write, but tbh everything offends someone somewhere these days ! Nemophila are an unstoppable juggernaut ! 🤘😁🤘
