Nice restoration! I found your video looking for info on this lantern. Found one today, someone had trown it out with the garbage. Very rusty, but worth a try.
Feuerhand have been around for a very long time, and make probably the worlds best hurricane lanterns, your's is a slightly rarer 'Sturmkappe' version, made after WW2. how you can tell the difference is, the ones made before WW2 were marked 'made in Germany', and those made after the war were marked 'W. Germany' after East and West Germany split from each other and Feuerhand move their production to West Germany. I have a pre war Feuerhand 'superbaby 175' in nice condition I picked up at a secondhand markets where I live in Australia. 🙂
Do you have any catalog or reference site to look up the old models? I bought a similar one same brand but with a what looks like a bigger tank for oil. It looks a bit rusty and worn on the paint. But I'd like to know how they came from the factory.
I bought a Feuerhand 276 Baby Sturmkappe, with the extension reservoir for a bit under a liter of lamp oil, giving about 3 days of burn time give or take. It's very rusty and in yellow, you can barely see the lettering. But I'll remove the paint and perhaps give it some cold blueing treatment as you give with firearms. I prefer the somewhat metal look.
@@Andreas0705 Yes, I now have 2 of them with the larger reservoir as well, and they are both the 'Sturmkappe' version. I havent found any catalogues so far, but there are different groups you can google for more info.
The amount of time, energy and effort you put into that thing is way more then the company ever spend on it. If you charge 10 euro's per hour just restoring this...I. mean, common. Germans still make these things for 40 euro's a piece brand new.
