Nice to see a lovely original "L" painted on the wall at the door way to the shelter, at 4:21 The "L" stood for Leichte, telling the troops that the shelter is not bombproof. Bombproof shlters had an "St" for Standig, painted at the entrance. I love the comms equipment in the other one. It looks like an amazing place to visit. I cant wait to see the next video.
They're to busy with propaganda and keeping the people dumbed down and divided to worry about a pot hole. Those politicians pockets are deep and to think they give a shit about the people is about the se thing as believing in Santa Clause....
I just want to say a huge thank you for your videos, I truly appreciate watching them as I live in 🇨🇦 and can't visit these sites but I hope one day I'll be able to go visit and see them with my own eyes and maybe be lucky enough to find some artifacts to bring home. That would be something I'd cherish till the day I died!
Great timing I just finished your last video lol!! This island is amazing so many features!! Imagine how much work it took to build these, just crazy to think about!! Was awesome to see some of the electronics and the cables still there today, even a little paint still on the wall's!! I noticed some hooks for the camo canvas and my mind went back what it must have looked like with the canvas over everything, no way you would see much anything from the air, if you even made it close to there at all!! Can't wait to see more from this place!! Thank's for sharing, stay safe and see you guy's later!!
You should seriously have your own show on either the History channel or the discovery channel ! I've been watching your video discoveries for the last couple of years and you are never a disappointment for sure! Thank you for your thirst for ww2 historical sites and sharing with us!
Since we don't know which island it is we don't know if a shot was ever fired to or fro. Can you imagine spending the whole war just waiting and nothing happens til you are told you are going home; then you see the destruction.
I know its 70+ years later but if they had even 50% of the foliage back then for camouflage this spot was well concealed and constructed for sure AND you say we'll have several continuation video. How Grand... Please keep up the excellent hunting and sharing my friends. Be Well til next we meet ...
Thank you for the adventure and seeing some amazing pieces of history ! Take care , stay safe and healthy wherever you maybe going next ! Doing well here in Kansas .
Amazing location and just crazy how much work they put into that. You never hear of this stuff in history classes. I'm so happy to be able to support you all to find this stuff and share it for everyone to see. Thank you for what you all do!
It's really exciting to follow your WW2 adventure, but I think it could be even more exciting if you brought along a metal detector, and went relic hunting on the sights you are visiting. I can't stop thinking... What amazing finds, there may be lying on the ground, and under the rocks.
I wonder if the small room with the small opening were communication rooms? They would hand a headset and microphone through the opening to the troops firing the guns to communicate with the fire control bunker. So great to see locations that have not been vandalized by people who do not respect history. I enjoy your channel so much because it’s like exploring with someone who has become the friend. Learning together about something we’re both interested in. Tell Eagle Eyes to be careful with the seagulls as they might carry him off lol. So many positions in one area. If the Allie’s bomb the island it would be hard to miss anything.
Wow..what a wonderful find. I absolutely love every single video that you do. We see true history with our own eyes. You are so enthusiastic as you explain what you have found. Just keep on doing what you do so well. I get anxious when I get my notifications on your videos. And I love that your son is old enough now to enjoy this with you. This is just the little old lady in Texas loving what you do. Stay safe in your journeys. God Bless you and your family..🇺🇸💕🇺🇸
How cool to read Wanda and very much appreciated. I am fortunate to have EE coming along and i am so impressed with him. He is so strong , really takes interest in what we do and he can go so far in life i think. Thank you our little lady in Texas and we will see you out there in the next adventure my friend :)
Very interesting 10:00 now due to so many incoming comms links here, leads me to suspect this was a gun director or possibly rangefinder located here. Das Funken raum? Passing out targets from the Sturmbahnfuhrer to the gun pits? A LOT of wires centred on here. Calling out "zwei drei vier Grad Feuer" BOOOOM WHOOOOOOOP BANG! 13:27 there is a part of a vehicle there in the left a mudguard or wing? The can thing and other piece LOOK like part of an artillary tractor. One bit was a fuel tank. These were used to move guns around.
Wow! Amazing footage. I'm surprised they left anything. Love to explore there. Very enjoyable video. Appreciate you and the history you bring to us! I was in my kitchen and heard you speak. You sound a lot like Werner Herzog. He's not only a great director, writer and producer but I enjoy his voice over documentaries. Thanks for showing us this beautiful island!
Is that Guernsey or Jersey? Or maybe im wrong... I worked at Channel islands and the habitants told me that they were most fortified Island in the world. I visit a lot of bunker, positions, gun emplacement... Etc. It was stunning. Like your videos. Keep up the good work and greetings from Croatia
I love all the finds that you shared with us! And I also love the fact that this is the German perspective being that I am American. Do you ever name the locations of your finds? Keep up the good work!
@@WW2HistoryHunter that's probably a good thing actually. That way all these sites will be preserved for a while longer until they cave in and become reclaimed by the Earth and nature.
Its would be interesting to find out which island this is. For me the channel islands were the most fortified islands during WW2 especially Jersey.I enjoyed the video🙂👍
with all the trench works,it would have been interesting to see an overhead view when an air raid siren went off - be like ants on a disturbed mound! all the rocks, wow, cuts down on the amount of concrete works!
Thanks historyhunter for the great video ..the old German barracks are still in great shape all things considering.. totally cool ..would of loved to explore it in person
Your videos are so entertaining and educational. If my son and I ever make it to Germany we're going to hangout with y'all. Seeing this stuff with your own eyes would be great.
What an amazing site. So much construction on such a small island. Some of those bunkers near the gun pits would have been "Ready Rooms" were the crews chilled while on duty. The tall cut outs near the exits would have been for their rifles etc. The shoreline looks perfect for a bit of magnet fishing or the ROV ? Would love to be able to see all this in person. Can't wait for Part 2. Thanks guys! Cheers!
It's 4:10 in the morning here and just came across this on my phone. How did I miss it? That island is beyond beautiful. Position is definitely out of this world. The Germans sure utilized every possible space on the island while using the natural materials nature provided. Very heavily fortified. Intricate tunnel system. Protection wall for that one Barrack was a brilliant idea with opening for scout to stand guard. Connectors and AEG Kabel something to see. Very smart idea using the cable/Kabel rock (pyramid) indicator so troops were able to place, repair, and add more when needed. Good find EE with Barrack. Very interesting and well structured. Sorry to hear the seagulls were giving you a rough time EE. They can be quite nasty if you infringe on their territory. 😁 That huge Barrack was quite the find with the sleeping quarters, dinning hall, washroom and toilets. Everything needed to keep the soldiers safe and comfortable. Yes that 1/2 corrugated metal pipe would be an effective shelter from the rain, for the native sheep residing in that area. Happy I came upon this, better late than never. Thanks again for sharing HH & EE. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
So many details out there and love your great comments Laura. This place it totally awesome we think and i would have loved to figure out what once was there. Thanks Laura and greetings from us.
Fan Roche I’m like 70% sure it’s Helligoland, an island off the northern coast of Germany which I believe is known as the most heavily fortified island in Europe.
@@SupermarineSpacefire44 Helligoland island has a Large harbour and a largish town even has 2 airfeilds its also over 30km from closest large land mass. we can clearly see land mass much closer than 30km. No way its Helligoland it was a major fortified island and Naval base in WW1as well. so it also douse not fit the narative of the Vidio of an Island with no history outside of WW2. My guess is also somwhere of Scandanavian coast
@@SupermarineSpacefire44 ah thanks. that makes sense. HH isn't german but maybe lives there. i found a map that is crazy difficult to follow for that whole northern area...
@@WW2HistoryHunter HH Greetings from India?? Think you got that wrong pal. Unless you actually are from or at least inside India lol HH if you don't mind me asking where actually are you from because I can't tell with your accent
You show so many great things . The Germans were building and preparing years before the war to have built so many military installations they had to been building for many years before they started the war. Thanks for sharing always interesting.
Awesome island. Is it the only fortified one, or are there more in the vicinity? It is so cool to see, the germans transforming an island into a huge stationary battleship....
You are correct this island is full. I am surprised it didn't get bombed into oblivion. Like other places has this been mapped for the layout? I am going to need a second life to map all these places. Great video. Stay safe out there.
IT was under fire from Allies fighter and bombers several time during WW2. Fantastic location and so much more to show later William. Thanks my friend and greetings from us.
HOLY MADONNA!!! Is this near the Pas De Calais, where the Germans were expecting the invasion??? I have NEVER seen anything like it before ... even in Normandy!!! I cannot wait to see even more!!!
Those running trenches might be worth detecting. Do you plan to return to the motorcycle hunt with the submersible? Thanks for the tour of the island installation! 👍
I know that you explained that the island your on had the most structures per square meter of land, but if my memory doesn’t let me down I was under the impression that the channel island of Jersey was the most fortified island during WWII, mainly due to it being a) the only part of the United Kingdom and protected territory occupied by the Nazis and Hitler was not about to let it go and b) it was an R&R reserve for the German military with a lot of high ranking officers and Nazi party officials going there. Perhaps I am wrong, the memory isn’t what it was, and if you haven’t been there it would be a great place for you to explore with many of the installations still standing and in very very good condition.
Well if you look at area available in square meters and measure how many square meteres the island had work done to this is the one with most square meters of placements , bunkers , trenches etc. Thanks for comment and for watching.
Do you know if any of these areas actually saw any type of battle or is there any history of it having any battle. Thank you so much for doing what you do.
Oh yes in 1 day job done the Germans were high on pervatine amp het and nuts to think those defences would stop the allies if they hadn’t of gone west might of been a different story
Looking at all the rubble was this area bombed or shelled by the Allies or is it deteriorated from the salt water in the air. You can’t hardly walk around with out stepping in to a gun location or bunker. Your right, they used the whole island.
