Yepp, the large building is the HQ of the company in Heidelberg. They used certain specialized concretes that absorb CO2 in the elements of the facade of their HQ. The HQ however was not 3D printed. The other, smaller, two floor building was from Greek guy who was living in Germany for 24 years. If I understood it correctly he was working in the company and wanted to be the first to 3D print a house in Germany. Like the woman said they wanted to be the avantgarde of the companies codifying the standards and regulations for 3D printing houses. Germany lives and breathes regulations. Germans don't take a shit without regulations. So a company that helps codify these regulations can heavily influence the future practices that favor their own investments into R&D. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the finished two floor home of the guy. Two (or three?) years ago the Belgian inventors of 3D printed houses successfully created their first house. Check for the video; it should still be around YT somewhere.
The 3D Print is only shown as the walls of the ground floor in this video. The big building they showed is the HQ of Heidelberg Cement with the cement that - if I understood correctly - absorbs pollutants out of the air (or CO2?) The Heidelberg Cement people used this to advertise for their whole sustainability concept they seem to have going on. I am of two minds on this video: on the one hand I find it fascinating how new techniques are used to do things in a (hopefully really) more environmentally friendly way. On the other hand, I find it quite a hard plug for this one firm ... and it has too much of an advert character for my taste.
The first commercial 3D printed building in Europe was builded in the Netherlands and Belgium followed soon (I mean a real building for sale that’s being used and not a test or demo)
