With Trophy Active Protection System installed, the Leopard 2A7A1 is an improved version of the Leopard 2A7. Tanks are further protected from approaching anti-tank rockets and missiles by the Trophy Active Protection System. In some circumstances, it might also offer defense against incoming anti-tank high explosive rounds.
For a 360 degree field of vision, this system uses a fire control radar with four flat-panel antennas installed atop the vehicle. The Trophy reacts quickly to situations. The onboard computer determines the best moment and angle to fire countermeasures as well as the approach vector of the approaching rocket or missile.
