I had the priveledge of seeing Gerry at The Beck Theatre in Hayes, Middx. He was a great performer and a lovely guy. He will be truly missed. Loved everything about you Gerry. 🙏🙏
Saw Gerry and the pacemakers, the kinks,Marianne faithful, gene Pitney and Bobby shaftoe ? Live All on the same bill on the Broadway cinema stage in Eccles Salford. Best seats 50p,37 1/2p and 25p cheapest seats November 1964 .I rember the curtains being closed and the kinks struck up their. Guitars and the the curtains opened and the kinks ray and Dave davis came on from different sides of the stage hopping across the stage playing their guitars to you really got me .fantastic
I also saw Gerry, The Kinks Gene Pitney and Marianne Faithfull in Winter Gardens Bournemouth late in 1964. I was 12 and my friend and I were allowed to go in without an adult. We were pretty close to the front. What a night! Screamed my head off!!
Gerry is so funny, and always was. His management didn't let the humour come through like they did with Lennon in the Beatles back in the day. All the effort was put into developing the Beatles and the Pacemakers were slided into light entertainment. This band should have been so much more.....
They were far better than the Beatles. It's a shame they broke up just a few years after they started. I could never understand why he didn't make a huge effort to go out on his own. He still had so much more musically to give. An absolute Legend! They don't make em like this anymore. It's sad! RIP Gerry. You'll never walk alone.
@@reneemallicone6839 Thats a ridiculous statement....., aside from the fact he wasn't a song writer and John and Paul were probably trhe greatest songwriting partnership of the 20th century. Gerry's problem was he and his band quickly became out dated and by '67 and the summer of love , they were yesterdays news . You either moved with the times with a little self reinvention or you were left behind. Of course the guy had talent and he was a pro musician all his life so he did very well really, but he was not a premier league rock star .
@@MrPhilfridge Same thing I was going to post. Little if any songwriting ability and songs were written by others. Failed to advance with the times. Beatles with L&M continued to advance and changed their sound on every album. Like Rubber Soul to Revolver to Sgt. Peppers to the White Album and Abby Road. Just WOW. Such a progression. Gerry was great for the time, and I still love those old tunes to this day. But he was limited by his inability to advance to the next level.
RIP Gerry. It was an honor to have met you before your concert with Leslie Gore many years ago in Greeley, CO. Awesome concert. Thanks for the sigs on the pics/albums.
The body ages, but my God, when Gerry sings, it brings me back to my teenage years, when you awoke from sleep, you never felt the pain that life had yet to give you, that is why a memory is worth gold, thanks Gerry for that memory.
The Cavern Club opened its door as a jazz club on Wednesday 16 January 1957. After Gerry Marsden persuaded Ray McFall (the owner) to let him and his band perform at The Cavern Club, it quickly became the centre for Rock & Roll. Punters flocked to see The Beatles, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes there, instead of listening to jazz music.
I'm the one was the first song I ever sung when I was 5 when I was 56 I went and saw Gerry perform live and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
His voice was still good as he got up in years. So many legends lose it after they get older but he didn't. Absolute legend. Extraordinary performer. I thought his band was far better than the Beatles. He had those Boy next door Good Looks. His smile was infectious! Another Legend gone. RIP Gerry! You'll never walk alone.
+Doug H. in VA He's just a pub turn now mate, these guys should know when to quit whilst they still have a good reputation. Like you say when he was on top of his game on the Ed Sullivan show -- All he's good for now with that coat is shouting 'Tutti Fruity Ice cream'
Gerry and The Pacemakers tocaron en versión moderna el himno del club de fútbol Liverpool “You’ll never walk alone”. Que buena presentación y es bonito regresar a casa y dónde inicio todo.
I grew up with Gerry and the Pacemakers and I loved the group but he has lost it now which is sad. I guess we all have to get older but there has to be a time when we have to accept that and give it away.
The key board should have used a piano sound with more of Gerry's hits, (with some strings). Only a thought from a 60's teenager. Was this unrehearsed , because the band seem rather unsure about the song structures at times. Not really doing Gerry justice.
Not the original Cavern of course, but I hear they tried to recapture the original atmosphere by sprinkling 20 gallons of urine around the place and putting flakey distemper on the ceiling to drop on the fans, Cavern dandruff, which confused many as most of the audience lost their hair many years ago. You can't put a price in memories, apart from the price of admission of course.
Ralph Guiterrez and Phillip Wood and all the other bad coments. You need to listen to all the crap nowdays like i bet you do. all sampled and put through VOICE CORRECTION NOT TO MENTION NOBODY PLAYS An insturment ON STAGE. all done in a studio and then brought to the live stage act. without people like Gerry and all the rest of the old groups - artists - bands ect you would have nothing. OH AND HOW FUNNY ALL THE LATEST CRAP HAS TO EITHER SAMPLE COPY OR STILL RECORD THESE GREAT SONG WRITERS AND THERE SONGS. I REST MY CASE
How pathetic we all become There is nothing else to say. At least I do not put my febility on video for others to see. He was great in his day...unfortunately this is the night...he should accept that. I seriously adore what he did, and truly appreciate it was part of my youth, ......but Jerry, our 'best before' time was a loooong time ago.
I just saw him on the British version of This is your Life. Filmed in the mid 80s. His original band was there. There were only 4. Gerry his brother on Piano the drummer and another guitarist.
great keyboard player carrying the band mmmmmmmmmm dont let the sun catch you crying is fair apart for a few bum guitar notes lol the keyboard player is a magician mmmmm
That's what they said about The Beatles in the early '60's! What about Adele, Ed Sheeran. Liam Gallagher, Robbie Williams, Madness - the list goes on. Ageing is part of the story!
Do you know when to give up making negatives comments , don't expect someone 70 to sing the same as they were in their 20's . People are enjoying the show , if you don't like it , don't watch it .
im the one a very poor rendition very pale and empty what happened ? mmmmmm where was the backing not the way i remember it in any shape or form sounds like they have not got their act together poor gerry someone else on on here commented is gerry tone deaf or is the band out of key still they did their best no doubt mmmmmm the keyboard player is holding it together mmmm
